The drummer is Myron "T-Rex" Grumbacher. I met one of his friends (Greg Bissonette) from the Woodlands Hills drum club at a drum clinic in Madison, WI. He mentioned Myron during his clinic, so I hung behind the crowd getting autographs. When I got to see him, I asked if he knew Myron, because Myron was the reason I switched from playing bass to drums, and he replied "yeah, he's my best friend". He asked me to pardon him for a sec, and walked to the back. I thought he was going to duck out on me. But he came back out and told me to follow him to a room in the back. He had Myron on the phone, and I can still remember him saying "Hey Myron, you won't believe this, somebody besides me knows who you are, and he lives in Wisconsin." Anyways, I got to talk to him for a bit and found out a lot, like why he left the band (Kids), etc. Both he and his friend Greg were totally chill and nice as hell.

I was also a big Myron fan. I saw him in Hampton VA in the early 80’s with the white kit shown in the Promises video. Absolutely became a huge fan of his playing style and stage presence. The whole ban was extremely tight, and perfect for her vocals and singing style. Glad you got a chance to talk to him and hear his story. I met another drummer hero of mine, Larrie Londin, at a clinic in Fairfax, VA - right before he passed. It’s very cool when guys like Greg, Myron and Larrie take the time to just hang out and share their experiences. Real pros - not just rock stars.

Her first hit on the radio and haven't heard it played in YEARS, very rarely is it ever mentioned when talking about her music. I know it's a hard topic but it really makes you think. Considering our current world right now in many cases hell is for children could be very relevant now. My #1 song of hers always has been always will be.

She was a perfectionist. She made sure everybody in that band was on the ball. She married the guitar player but had no mercy for mistakes. It had to be tight and perfect. That is the mind of a true performer. She was relentless about perfection. I saw her live once and it was perfect. Like listening to an album except for the added live components.

1981/1982, my junior year of high school and Pat Benatar was riding huge on the radio with this song. She is one of my very favorite singers, period. She got me through a lot of crap from my parents with songs like this (abusive home). Her music rang so true with me. This song still sends chills up my spine. I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. She has no match as far as I'm concerned. She now opens the door for so many contemporary singers, and they owe her a hell of a debt. I grew up listening to Pat Benatar and many others of her generation back then. I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is keep it up. One of the greatest female vocalists of all time!! Her choice to sing rock cost her her family and that is hard! They paid for her vocal training to be an opera singer but she loved rock and roll. She left home on bad terms and went for it. She made it big! To this day she does not speak to her father. He is most likely gone now and I am sure that funeral was a tough one for her. She loved her family but her father did not like her singing rock and roll. The guilt of making him mad and her love for him must have been hard as hell on that sad day. Going your own way is the right of every person. Her father wanted something different and was mad as hell about her choice but he still loved her. How could any father not love their child? I would not want to be her on that day when he was laid to rest. It must have been so hard for her.

I had a female friend in college. No love interest whatsoever but we loved each other. I also played football at our College as a running back. One night she came by the bar where I worked as a bouncer and asked me to walk her home. She told me about an experience she had the guy that she had previously been very interested in. He slept with her and although she agreed it was clear to her that she was used. She was left very empty and this hurt me for my friend. I don't know why, maybe God just brought this to me, but I heard this song on the radio late that night. I kept hearing it inside of my head up until the football game the next day. It's the first time I rushed for over 200 yards in a game. I cried almost the whole time knowing that I couldn't truly understand her feelings. All I could do was just be her friend. 20 years later we're still friends.

Buckle in. I remember hearing this on W ABC and W NBC New York radio. Then I would wait with the pause button to try to record it. Of course after three hours you go to the bathroom and you hear the end of the song. Anybody else?

I hope you know, as well, that her lead guitarist/producer/husband, Neil Giroldo, is also from Ohio. Specifically, my area of the state, Northeast Ohio. People like Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders, RikOcasek and Benjamin Orr from the Cars, Jani Lane from Warrant, Marilyn Manson, Dave Grohl from Nirvana and the Foo Fighters and Maynard James Keenan from Tool were all born in this part of Ohio. Joe Walsh from the Eagles and the James Gang and Trent Resnor from Nine In h Nails also got there musical starts in the same area.

Pat started out as an Opera Singer. Her father wanted her to remain in Opera. Her fight with her Father about it prompted the title "Love is a battlefield".
