    hey I am interested in the Finance sector, as warwick has been ranked as top 1 but the jobs people got into is like amazon.. so I was wondering whether it has been ranked correctly?>

    • @Mambo5elizabethandolivia
      @Mambo5elizabethandolivia  8 лет назад +3

      Warwick is renowned for it's finance courses, and graduates go on to work for top employers like Deloitte, EY, PwC etc. These companies are highly visible on campus because they go through large efforts to recruit from Warwick, evident by the numerous networking events and workshops held virtually every week. So if you do not feel a job at Amazon is suitable for you, there are many other companies hiring Warwick students.
      Of course, we cannot distinguish whether or not university rankings are in fact correct or not, as all the existing rankings are based off of different criteria, some of which are subjective, but Warwick does consistently rank highly in Finance which suggests there is something attractive about the course.

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for making this helpful vid
    Whats the accomodation like? Got any recommendations (bearing in mind I will be studying Economics)?
    cheers

    • @Mambo5elizabethandolivia
      @Mambo5elizabethandolivia  6 лет назад +1

      Hey, it honestly depends on your budget for accommodation and your preferences, such as whether you are wanting an ensuite etc. During first year, you are placed with a whole range of people who don't necessarily study the same course as you, so it wouldn't matter if you study economics as you will be placed in a mix of people :)

    Hi was wondering if you could answer some questions for me. Often I find that it is hard to get specific details but that is what matters. So a few questions. I am thinking of applying to warwick for maths, I know they have a very good reputation for the subject.
    However there are specific things I need to know, firstly How many hours a week does the average student spend studying? high numbers are not a bad thing, Just I know some people that went to polytechnics and got good degrees with very little input. They still work menial jobs because the degree was not worth much. I would rather have 50+ hours a week, because it means the degree is actually worth it. However I do have financial limits so will either need to wait another year and save up or work part time at uni. If uni work is a 60 hour week then I need to have a year out to save up. if Uni work is 40 hours a week or less then I can work part time and be fine.
    Secondly and more important what are the class sizes like and supervisions/seminars. I have heard that seminar sizes are large and there is little chance for interaction with the lectures? is this true? that would put me off Warwick. I think for a subject like maths there should be seminar/supervision classes of no more then 5/6. I know other universities have this.
    I am aware that the supervision system of Cambridge is unique and rare, however there are several other high standard universities that have seminar/supervision classes below a ratio of 6:1.
    What is the actual standard for Warwick here?

    • @Mambo5elizabethandolivia
      @Mambo5elizabethandolivia  8 лет назад +1

      Neither of us study maths but Elizabeth has 15 hours a week and I have 8/10 hours a week. It really depends on the course... But we know as a fact that maths has more contact hours. Double this time for seminar work and also some extra time for your own independent revision. It should not be more than 50 hours a week... I have a part time job that I work during the day, evenings and weekends and it hasn't got in the way of my studies :) you just need to find a balance between social life and work life, you may think that university is for study but there are other things to do such as paid work, societies and clubs? So perhaps don't out rule spending a year out to save up money, this definitely would make your university experience more enjoyable.

    • @Mambo5elizabethandolivia
      @Mambo5elizabethandolivia  8 лет назад +1

      Answering your second question, it still depends on the course. Maths is quite a big sector of the university so I'm sure that the lecture hall would be full of students... Seminar sizes vary, it's not as many students as there would be in a lecture hall, but it is not one-on-one tutoring. It will usually be less than 10 people, at least mine is. Hope that answered your questions :)

    hey can you please tell me about the duration of extended visa given by British government after study time for job search ?

    • @Mambo5elizabethandolivia
      @Mambo5elizabethandolivia  7 лет назад

      Hey, I am afraid that we wouldn't actually know the answer to that. You can look on the Gov.uk website and I am sure that you can find something under the visa section on there :)

    • @yankobel
      @yankobel 7 лет назад +1

      There's no extended visa. Basically you have 4 months after the end of your programme to find a job in order to switch to tier 2 visa, which is a hard endevour. If you don't secure a job, you leave the country, so be aware of all the risks you're gonna take.
