So much growth in my respect for Post over the last few years. Proving he isn't a one-trick pony and that he is an ACTUAL musician that truly loves music. And more love for your abilities, Michael, every video I watch. Keep up the great content... We, as music-loving musicians, are loving it!
He is one of my favorites, which is saying something cause I'm not into a lot of modern pop music or whatever genre he usually does, but he caught my attention when he covered Enter Sandman by Metallica, and it was pretty darn good. He's got an interesting voice too, and it always draws me in for some reason.
Have you seen Post’s cover of “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright”? It is several years old. That video was the first time he got my attention as a legit versatile artist.
This was the closing clip of a benefit for damages sustained during the freeze in Texas. Matthew McConaughey hosted and produced it, that’s why it said that at the end.
True....glad someone mentioned that. I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere Post Malone is from Texas or has some connections there? Idk, much about the guy but I’m not surprised he stepped up for this benefit. That fact that he choose to cover a killer song and then knocked it out if the park is bonus. ✊🏽
@@mikedeuce13 Correct, it was two hours of songs and covers by Texas artists. Highly recommend checking out the video. Lyle Lovett, Gary Clark Jr, Los Lonely Boys, and many more.
There’s a young guy named Logan Halstead who has a song called Dark Black Coal. The picking in that song is great and even better knowing that I think he’s still in high school.
I hadn’t gotten into Mr. Post until a year-and-a-half ago, my lack of effort. I was seeing a bunch of non-musical stuff with him, and he kept winning me over. Then, dove into his music and don’t regret it. He comes across as appreciative, very fortunate feeling, a very fun, engaged, and curious...very kind and respectful to others.
Glad you came across this video by suggestion. I’m glad you noticed everything about the performance including the beer, and overflowing ash tray. If you know Post Malone, you know that he is addicted to cigarettes! LOL he will always surprise you and never disappoint you. I highly suggest you watch and or listen to all of his music. He is talented, gifted, raw, real, and above all Humbled and polite. He has true manners. The Nirvana concert was spot on and I know he made the entire band, proud! I really hope you dig further into his music, and all of his performances from RUclips. I love Posty I have to watch him every day and it never gets old. Andrew Watt is really talented as well!
He said "I'll love you till I die". Best opening line in music. Its truth, it's Universal, it's tragic, it's raw. Everything music is supposed to be. In my humble opinion.
I remember seeing an interview where Sturgill says he wrote this song using every country trope he could come up with, and got pissed it ended up doing as well as it did.
No surprise. I have a friend who won a country song-writing competition doing exactly the same thing. Started as a porch party joke....load in every corny cliche you can think of.
There is an interview with Sturgill saying he regret's writing this song and he basically said he hates playing it. Yet it is one of my favorites from him and i think it's a lot of other peoples favorite too.
Post is a great musician!! You should check out some of his stuff. Some of it is nothing like his covers so it’s really interesting and very cool seeing him play sturgill and Dwight. Feeling Whitney I think you would like it’s a beautiful mellow tune
I knew Post Malone when he was doing open mics in Dallas and Fort Worth. He's a lovable guy, a good rhythm guitarist, has a unique voice and before the long hair, face tattoos he covered different songs back in those days. So when everyone is shocked he's covering a Country artist I'm not. He use to cover Bob Dylan, Hendrix, Nirvana (was his favorite go to), Staind, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson. He's talented but he's also a fan of modern music and I'm glad he's in the mainstream limelight cause it proves the music you make can be whatever the hell you want to do.
Posty is legit. I actually got into him because I heard his cover of Don't Think Twice by Bob Dylan and couldn't get enough of it. I like a lot of his pop stuff, too. He writes good tunes.
Sturgill is one of my favs right now and love that Post is switching into Country. I just saw Paul Cauthen Live in Boulder and he was amazing - Check out Holy Ghost Fire, Prayed for rain, Slow Down, Saddle- theres so many and would love you take on him!
Post Malone is a freaking chameleon! Playing whatever sounds good to him and typically tearing it UP! In addition, if you ever see any interviews with PM he seems super genuine and gracious. Class act. Also love his nod to Dwight when he's strumming the guitar/left arm stretched out..
I've gone 20 odd years not every wanting an electric guitar's elongated fretboard. But watching your videos has changed my mind. I've always felt you don't need so many frets to make heavenly melodies. But you've changed my mind. There is some beautiful logic in the upper register madness... that just cannot be recreated on a lower pitch. (I play a simple classical)
idk if you've heard it or not, but the cover of "cocaine blues" post did with billy strings is absolutely AMAZING. the smile on post's face the entire time is so great.

that opening line reminds me a bit of the one from Peter Rowans Lonesome L.A. Cowboy I been smoking dope snorting coke trying to write a song forgetting everything I know till the next line comes along.
I went to a party in the 8th grade with a girl to watch her brothers band , afterwards I sat and watch the lead singer play the acoustic guitar and sing and it was better . I told him it was awsome and asked his name he said hi I'm Kirk it was Kirk Cobain , I went with Kris Novaselic sister Dianna , If i had just known then what i know now . Oh well my sons love it and think I'm pretty cool we watched them do a show at a A Aberdeen , Washington radio shack . We all went to the same high school and it was like a scene from the movie Seven place was dark and scary hole town was crazy . It's funny because all of us poor kids wore old worn out Jean's and flannels and that became grunge none of the rich kids used to wear what we did until after Nirvana it was crazy how they changed the literal fabric of are town life is truly surreal .
The song that Sturgill wanted to blow up the least is currently loved by so many more now... But Michael is right. Every single line of this song is genius.
1.) you’re the best. The way you break down songs reminds me of how my dad taught me about music.
