The 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Is A Seriously Appealing Electric Sporty Hatch
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- Kia is very serious about going all-electric and the 2022 #KiaEV6 is the first vehicle to show that. Built on the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the #EV6GTLine goes for a sportier vibe and this #EV6 #GTLine with the long range battery and RWD goes the furthest on a full charge, at 310 miles. The exterior styling turns heads on the road and the interior has a uniquely different design with premium materials and loads of tech.

KIA and Hyundai are going to have a bright future of their cars.
Lmaoo yes they will destroy tesla
Yes they are. Putting Honda in the rear mirror. Toyota maybe a little tougher but Honda isn’t what it use to be
@@JDMSwervo2001 I hope so. I've always championed Tesla's aggressive approach & loved that they put more power into their cars than 'necessary'. This "just enough" approach in a market defined by mostly neutered men happy with ~180hp was killing cars for me. I believe I might just hate Elon Musk, though, and the interior design of Teslas is depressing. Love the roof & the visibility, as well as the many cameras around the car making for a very 'smart' vehicle.
No reason KIA can't invest early & continue making fantastic cars like this, although a RWD car is as pointless as getting a bicycle in Canadian winters. I need AWD & as much power as I can get. KIA were the worst cars on the road not that long ago, but they've grown to one of the best. With far fewer moving/intricate parts to break down in an EV, unreliable brands will be only be a bad memory.
@Shredder another troll that is jealous because his car is nowhere at the top where hyundai and kia are at.
Not as much fun if can’t make them affordable for everyone. The prices of future cars in the 25000 or under range will soon be long gone. Welcome to the 50 grand and up new car prices
Problem is unless you just have $50k-60k plus to shell out for this, think of how much gas that you could buy despite the current fuel prices.
One of the problem with EV is the price while ICE cars are affordable for the masses. The incentive is a joke only for a rich tax bracket!
It’s not a car for people shopping for a budget car, it’s really not being marketed towards that. The base model is pretty cheap tho, if you are just looking for budget, 40k starting with the tax rebate it’s around 33k.
You really shouldn’t buy full electric if you are just trying to save money on gas. Just get a hybrid and pay for the gas.
it's because supply and demand right now
Apples to oranges. You can't compare the price of an EV6 GT-line to the price of a Nissan Sentra.
If you want a car with this tech, power and style, you always had to pay around this money whether you put gas in it, or plugged it in.
So don't think of it like "EVs are more expensive".
Put yourself in the shoes of the prospective buyer in this class of vehicle. The people who before EV cars, always bought cars like this. The E class, the 5 series, the A6. And view this as an electric alternative to _those_
@@devongee1776 Yes- what Devon said.
I purchased a dual motor AWD GT-Line. I have been daily driving it for a few weeks and so far I really like it. It has a fun sporty feel but somehow also manages a very comfortable ride quality. It is also very fast and fun to drive. I drive about 100 miles a day and have been managing to just use a 110v to charge it. I start Monday off at 100% charge, plug it in each night when I get home from work, and on Friday I start the day at around 70% then get a full charge on the weekend. The car really puts a smile on my face driving it and makes me laugh every time I drive by a gas station when I see the outrageous prices.
If you don't mind sharing, what's your commute daily, like how many miles you put on each week? Do you have winter where you live? I'm in eastern Canada & I'm looking for an AWD EV that can handle harsh winters.
I also heard that the performance of this EV isn't dependent on the % of charge. Isn't 100% charging not considered optimal, or is this a unique battery type that isn't adversely affected by 100% charge?
@@NunchucksHabit I drive roughly 450-500 miles per week. Mostly highway miles. I live in Florida so we do not really have winters. I know the GT-line has a heat pump however. The performance has not been affected by the battery charge level. I have had it down to 4% on the drive back after buying it and all levels between and the performance has been the same. I alternate between ECO mode the Sport mode. If I am on the highway I stick it in ECO mode and turn on the excellent HDA (highway driving assistant) and keep it in sport mode all other times since it is so much fun. I am not sure about any negative impact for charging it to 100%. I will keep it until the warranty runs out at 100k then buy something else so not too worried about it for now. I am surprised I can get by on just charging it at 110v though and meet my driving needs.
@@carguy4life219 Any tips on getting on a wait list to get one of these bad boys? #FellowFloridaMan here
@@SheldonYing I got really lucky on mine. Been looking for months and most all dealerships in FL wanted between $10k and $15k over MSRP for the GT-Line. I called a dealership named Friendly Kia that showed online that they had three. When I called them all of them were sold however one person had backed out of the deal literally 5 minutes earlier and they said they would sell it to me at "only" $2k over MSRP. Normally I would never pay over MSRP however the EV6 qualifies for a $7500 tax credit which I badly need (I owe taxes every year) so I put a deposit down immediately and drove 250 miles that day to get it. Maybe give them a call to see if they will make the same deal and find out when they will have another one in stock.
Do you live in the US? The dealer here in Carson told me that the car does NOT support level 1 charging. Can you please tell me what charger you are specifically using for phase 1 charging?
Hey sofyan can you try to do more videos with you driving cars at night to show how led headlights and ambient lighting perform at night
So it’s a wagon, lol. An SUV with the height of a car.
Love it! This is a top contender for our next vehicle… just need better charging infrastructure in Canada!
It's taller than a sedan so it's kind of more like a Subaru Outback.

I heard there is a recent software update to fix the sound on the KIA EV6 with the upgraded sound, makes a big difference.
Good review. On the FB group for the EV6, folks are saying that after the April/May nav update, the sound system improved a lot. Previously drove a Tesla Model Y LR. I would get the AWD GT Line or AWD Ioniq 5 Limited (that’s what I got). It’s so insanely quick. For the CarPlay, I got the SuperiorTek 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter for my Ioniq 5, and it works really well for that. I’m sure it will work with the Kia too. I was unhappy with the Model Y because it was extremely stiff, didn’t have CarPlay, and most importantly unfortunately was one of the folks who had insane phantom braking.
It was between the GT line AWD EV6 and the Ioniq 5 Limited. I prefer the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD, because it feels more premium, but the EV6 GT Line also feels great and has some things that are better.
Why do you continue to try the brake torquing acceleration tests. You never seem to get faster times in all the 30+ reviews I’ve watched. Either it doesn’t work or you need some training. Just put in sport mode if available and go
7:25 We love the fact that Kia and Hyundai are really promoting the V2L!
Great review, thank you for sharing! 🔌⚡🚘
Bravo to Kia! their killing it! 💪🏼
The frunk on this car is the AWD version frunk, the RWD has a bigger frunk, at least here in Europe.
I'm definitely not buying or supporting Tesla. KIA or Hyundai are the best choice for EV
Love mine. Just got back from traveling from CT to TN and back. Spent less than $100 on charges. Got 255 miles at 70 miles an hour. Charge at home with solar. Already have 6k miles. I don't get your issue with the dual purpose control panel for the audio/climate control. Do you really switch between the 2 that often? Doesn't the steering wheel have audio controls? I think it's a great use of space and simplicity.
And there is a climate tab on the touchscreen, so theoretically, you can leave the panel on audio for the volume knob and control climate through the screen.
I saw this same exact EV6 on the street today. Beautiful looking and surprisingly I like it more than they Hyundai Ioniq 6. We just leased the Kia Niro EV which we love. We are thinking of maybe The EV9 or telluride in about 2 years
Ahh yea ... i am going to trade in my PAID OFF car and invest $51k+ to save $4 per gallon in gas and have my home electric bill go up ~$80 per month, because when gas prices go UP, so does my home electric cost 🤔
Exactly all the geniuses that think electric cars are going to save them money. They will jack up the road tax for electric vehicles and kilowatt cost per hour is going through the roof. Not only that there's no infrastructure for chargers in this country and if they don't build nuclear power plants there's literally no future for electric cars
Absolutely no one is suggesting people who currently own a vehicle that they are happy with drop it and buy a somewhat premium EV just to save money on gas.
You are making a moronic straw man argument to justify your position.
Also, sure your electricity bill goes up but unless you are massively overpaying for your power it’s still substantially cheaper per mile to drive with electric over gas.
@@brandonl8039 No one is suggesting it BUT that is what PEOPLE are doing, because they are IDIOTS, same ones reading this thread that want to argue the difference between a ev6 and a corolla when its irrelevant to the topic. 🤦🏽♂️
"Oh but the EV6 has this and that and that and this" ... well i dont care about all that bullshit. I want a car with an ENGINE.
Moronic arguement ??? Yea thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.
Yes the electric bill goes UP when gas goes up and when you charge it at home.
AND YES I KNOW EV'S ARE CHEAPER MPG OVER GAS but its still a pos gutless souless car ...
Oh and dont you NOT think for 1 second that the power companies KNOW the more EV'S that are sold and are charging at home is a cha-ching $$$ for them to increase your electric bill ???? Once they find out more homes have more EV's ... do you not think they are going to hike your energy cost and take advantage of your energy saving EV ???
"Oh you are putting more of a strain on the grid by charging your ev at home, so now we have to compensate by raising your kW hr charge" and you cant do shit about it but take it dry 🤣
Signed your electric company ...
@@brandonl8039 these people have an agenda don't they? most normal people i know seem to really love their electric lawn mowers and blowers. last i checked no one was counting kilowatt hours when they charged up their electric drill.
Painful that your are telling people that this car charges at 350kw. #misinformation
We love our AWD EV6 GT and can't get enough of it. The panel that switches back and forth is brilliant and allows for less clutter on the dash. You can press and hold on the switch icon to set a preference on what the panel displays. I tend to tinker with audio more so I set that preference. If you switch over to climate controls and wait a few seconds it defaults back to audio. The ambient lights are super nice and wish they were that bright in the 2022 Telluride.
I did the same with my audio/AC panel - it's a really nice option.
@@davidgiles9751 It really is. Thoughtful way to keep things organized.
I keep mine defaulted to the media controls. I have the star shortcut set to android auto and that's really the only button I ever use on there. I have my climate set on auto to a certain temp and I rarely need to change that. I don't get all the complaints about it.
I have a used 15k van, race you New York to LA.
Yes!!! This is all I been waiting for this video and thanks sofyan for reviewing my favorite All-electric car by Kia.
They have bigger frunk in Korea, IDK why they don't give the US, probably just a cost cutting method. Maybe you can buy one from Korea and replace it.
yes, the larger frunk requires an inner release handle for DOT safety compliance given the larger volume can possibly trap a small child inside.
I wish reviewers would stop making a deal about frunks. A small modest space to put charging cables, jacks and spare tire is enough. If you want to haul stuff one big deadicated trunk is better than having multiple odd shaped spaces around the car.
re: "one big (dedicated) trunk is better than having multiple odd shaped spaces around the car." exactly, nobody was crying about "needing more space" when ICE SUV's, Crossovers, and Hatches started taking over the market. people don't recognize this "form factor" has been on sale for 32 years, and got it's start with the 1990 Ford Explorer. yeah I remember when they came out, cause I used to rent them from Enterprise to go on weekend ski trips. #PORSCHE911ENVY

Thanks for the great review, I had some issue with the front end but it has grown on me quite a bit, really starting to like the headlight design, they look like butterfly wings, hopefully the back grows on me too.

BIG TIP with the climate to infotainment change-over button: hold the button down for three seconds and it will bring up a hidden menu to select an automatic default. And vice versa if climate is selected. If left off, the menu stays on what ever was selected last.
how long ago were these videos recorded? you say its winter in Pennsylvania but it's May when im watching it

KIA is producing a lot of reliable products on their lineup.
Too bad you have to buy one at a dealership sight-unseen with a $10k markup. Dealerships will kill the EV
I absolutely love it, tho again pricing. I just don’t understand how average Americans can afford this. Give me a 24k electric car and I’m down, even then i could hardly afford that 😂
Average Americans can afford it because they sign up for 84 month payment plans. Most Americans only care about the monthly payment, not the car price.

I had a Niro 2017 when they first came out. Did 76k miles with ZERO problems and ran over a truck tire which totaled it. Now I have a 2022 Kia Sorento s hybrid AWD.....no complaints whatsoever
I saw this car at the NY auto show and it is really nice. its unfortunate that this car has very little cargo space for a "hatchback" car
ev9 is coming. and globally, this size is more appealing especially in europe.
God damn 4200 lbs from a small hot hatch? Insane....
EV6 is not a small hot hatch. Longer wheel base than Palisade.
Its strange that KIA and Hyundai are doing so good in the EV market and producing some very good looking and reliable EV's. I remember in the 1980's and 1990's, these two companies only produced garbage cars that didn't last over 5 years, and now they produce the best in the world. While American companies seem to struggle with advancement and have only produced a few good cars like the Mustang Mach E and the Volt and Bolt. Why was the Volt discontinued?? It was such a great EV?
Yeah my wife loved her '13 Chevy Volt, when I read that GM was discontinuing them I went out and bought her a new 2019 before they were all gone, didn't bother trading her old one in so I just use it for random weekend errands now. They need gas so infrequently that I don't think we need a full EV.
Why strange? Long time passed and they changed
@@bhbae1 For people who are old enough to remember Kia's and Hyundai's when they only made garbage and would generally make people laugh at you for driving them, it's definitely strange to see them make a complete 180 degree turn. Also. Wired apple car play sounds better.
It is weird about the meridian sound system. The bass sounds weak but you can feel your pants vibrate. I would add a subwoofer in the back.
I don't understand how a >45k vehicle has a heated steering wheel as an option and not standard. I get needing to differentiate between trims but damn.
Yeah that's the main reason I'm driving an internal combustion lexus... they want too much for cars with VERY limited options in the EV market
6:56 there is no AWD badge for the EV6. That's only on the Ioniq 5 and 6.
15:26 Kia needs to make the volume and tune knob to go further out so that it would prevent accidental touches. I'm actually looking to find some sort of extender to place over those knobs. I could switch the volume and tune knob around in the system but that would make the volume knob kinda of far away. I know I could always change the volume on the steering wheel as well but I like using the knob more tho.
Really disappointing driving review, the man just complains about the fact that he could not get the AWD model. Dude, RWD is the highest selling model for obvious reasons, and you should be fortunate to have this car to review it nicely and give the real facts about driving dynamics to the audience who wants to find out about the RWD only. I see a lot of amateur reviewers just doing 0-60... I mean most of the audience out thr is not buying a car for that reason.
