15 Best Things To Do In Guayaquil Ecuador

- Many people have told us to skip Guayaquil. We read many opinions that there's not much to do here and it's not worth visiting. So we decided to settle into Ecuador's largest city to investigate.
We were pleasantly surprised to find so many awesome things to do in Guayaquil! Best things to do in Guayaquil Ecuador: We loved the stroll the Malecon 2000, the ride La Perla Ferris Wheel, climbing Cerro Santa Ana and Las Peñas, taking the pirate ship for a cruise on the River Guayas, cycling across Santay Island, eating "congrejo criollo," and so much more!
So we wanted to make a video and write a blog post to show other travels that it can be worth a visit. So this video highlights what we found to the best things to do in Guayaquil. You can find all the details and directions on our associated article:

I'm excited I'm flying into Guayaquil in three weeks for a two-week vacation In Ecuador.
How was it?
@@elderassassin9673 Guayaquil was brief, Cuenca, Cajas N.P., and La Playas were awesome. My fiance is from Portoviejo we were there briefly. But obviously, now it's not the best time to go to Ecuador or South America. We were there for three weeks, I Loved it. Hopefully moving there when life gets normal in some fashion again.
@@jtroueche1980 going to Colombia in October. They will reopen there borders October 1 I wanted to go to Ecuador as well however they're doing very bad in the Coronavirus. Columbia is doing very well.
@@elderassassin9673 Good luck going down there. I will say driving in Ecuador was fairly easy. I've heard Colombia is a little different, kind of like a wild west situation, anything goes in the rules of driving.

i was in the U.S. Navy, back in 2006
my ship docked close to here, so i was able to experience Guayaquil, for about three days
damn, almost totally different city from what i remember and the pictures i took!

I spent my last day of a 3-week tour of Hermoso Ecuador in Guayaquil. Had a fabulous time!! La Perla almost gave me a mental meltdown.
What a great way to finish a EC trip! Funny, we went the opposite way, as we started this Ecuador trip in GYE. Love that ferris wheel - what a way to see the city!

We have two weeks there! I cant wait!!! Did you find it was safe to walk around with your camera?
Have a great trip! :-) Yes, we felt fine walking around with our camera. When not using it, we put it in an anti-theft purse/bag, just out of an overabundance of precaution. There are reports of pickpockets here, but we never noticed it like we have in other major South American cities. Personally, we found the touristic areas highlighted in this video to feel safe, but there's always some element of risk.
All the touristic places shwon by the video are safe. However f you want to visit other places keep in mind that Guayaquil, as any large city, is dangerous depending the time and place. Before you visit those places you should ask to locals whether the place is safe or not, or be accompanied by some local friends or a touristic guide.

@@yandrycaballero5103 Gye tiene un brazo de mar y ríos que la circundan, los desechos de agua lluvia desfogan en los ríos, tan solo cuando coincide que hay marea alta y precipitaciones ya hay inundaciones porque el agua lluvia no tiene donde desfogar. Gye no es un desierto, tiene ríos, llueve y MUCHO
