As I get older and practice yoga and meditation, I realized that the managed discomfort I feel in the stretches of yoga is a practice of accepting that discomfort to help me learn how to breath through and accept the emotional pain in life when it occurs. I go to the edge of the yoga stretch discomfort and hold and breath and think , "accept, accept -this is like life's pains so breath and accept." This is the letting go for me.
To say “life shouldn’t hurt” suggests that when one experiences pain, they ought to deny its existence rather than accept it. The experience of emotional, physical, and mental pain are fundamental to the experience of emotional, physical and mental pleasure. A peak experience is seen as a peak because it can be compared to the low and difficult points. You can’t have the positive end without the negative end because their relationship to each other, define each other. The ability to look up can only exist if there is also the ability to look down. Without down, there would be no up, it would just be and no one would take notice.
@@galepressley8769 - In reality "life is suffering" in some form or the other for all living beings. Each person experiences it to varying degrees depending on his/her life circumstances. That is why mental balance is vital for a calm and less stressful life. These are life's realities that were mentioned by Buddha more than 2500 years ago.
Tomorrow, I’m helping my father fly away to heaven with the help of Maid(medical aid in dying) I was crying and sobbing through most of this, but it felt like a good place to be. It was exactly what I needed today. Thank you! Blessings ❤️
I am a 60 years old active woman. I love and have been practicing yoga daily for the past 16 years . I came across this video accidentally and decided to try it even though the sciatic pain was taking over my left side. I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU, THANK YOU for a great video! I loved it and for sure will come back . Sharing it now with friends 🙏🧘♀️Namaste good soul 😘🌺
I am currently working through Yin to help me through the grief of loosing my father. I do it 6 days a week. the peace and wellbeing I feel is overwhelming.
Wonderful class. Thank you for this generous class and many others on this platform. The lateral flexion movements was just what I needed today. As I’m getting older, I’m losing the flexibility that I had as a professional dancer. No truer words have been said, “if you don’t use it, you’ll loose it.” As I’m getting older, i gravitate to yin yoga for various reasons but mostly to release everything the body, mind and spirit holds on to. Thank you again
Travis your story about the monks and letting go brought me to tears. This has been so powerful and a huge impact on my life. I'm so grateful to have been recommend your channel by a friend. For a long time I had been frustrated with a chest injury that hadn't gone away for over a year. But through that injury I discovered yoga, and thats had far more of a positive effect on my life than any negative the injury can have on it. Funny how the universe works sometimes. We can always find some good even in the most challenging and dark circumstances. That's something my dad told me and has stuck with me. Anyway thanks so much for what you do. You've changed my life and so many others too!
I have been doing yin for years-this was the BEST yin flow I’ve ever done. All of my cells are celebrating oscillating and I even released a couple of happy tears. Thank you so much for the honor and blessing of this practice!!!!❤❤❤
OMG…. this is real yoga!! Thank you …..have been practicing since the pandemic with vartious RUclips instructors but this practice was the real deal… can’t wait to take more of your classes. Thank you ! So thankful you popped up on my feed !
thank you ....i did a 10k Sunday and i did it unprepared........my yoga teacher didnt show up tonight .....so i searched you tube.....picked your class...........all i want to do now is Yin Yoga..because I have been so sore ....I feel better now and right before bed too!
I have been a long time fan of your yin and power yoga. But wow. What a lovely practice this was. I cope with runner's knee, sciatica, chronic neck injury pain. Most recently a traumatic pregnancy and birth of my beautiful little girl. I'm surprised I haven't come across this video sooner but so glad I did. The only thing that made me come out of stillness during this was the hot cup of tea story. It brought me to (good) tears. Why do we let the hot tea of the past continue to burn us when it is no longer even here? Thank you and namaste!❤
These yin practices are great for a pre-workout and rehab. I tore my meniscus almost a year ago, and things are taking a wihle to heal. After stretching like this I can really feel the blood flowing through the tight and injured areas.
I am really enjoying these Yin practices. It's hard to find someone who does full body and doesn't hold for too long or nor long enough. These are perfect, and I really love your transitions (flow). It is so graceful and fluid. Thanks for sharing.
I can identify myself sooo much with the young monk who couldn't let it go ! Won't try the experience with the very hot tea cup, but I keep the metaphore in mind ! Thank you Travais for another amazing peaceful class. Namaste from France 🙏
I agree. It was such a healing practice…body and soul. And so interesting you mentioned your cousin…My sincere condolences. My father passed recently and when I listened to the teacup story, I also realized how I had been been refusing to let go because when he dropped the teacup I just lost it.💔❤️🩹
Wow wow wow. The teacher at my studio was feeling sick today so our weekly Sunday yin was cancelled. As i am about to go get certified as a yoga teacher myself i am not skipping many practices so I headed to RUclips to fill the void and came across this. What an amazing practice. The monk story was amazing. I will be taking the story and some of these poses into my practices as a teacher. Namaste
This was a great stretch for the body. I truly enjoyed it. The story about the monk and the tea was so enlightening. Thank you Mr. Travis for such good yoga medicine for the body. God bless! Stay safe!
Thanks for your teachings. The combination of very well thought, effective exercises, the benefit of stillness, the concept of the Yin feeding the Yang, the calmness of the message, the challenge of holding still in every pose and controlling the "monkey mind", all together has helped me greatly to change the way I face the day every day. I may never be able to do some poses like the shoelace and my caterpillars look more like a grasshoppers :( , but that doesn't matter as long as I improve every day and I feel a millimeter better every time ... and I have to say I have no choice, after my spine surgery and Parkinson diagnosis it's Yin Yoga or Yin Yoga until the very end. Again, many thanks for your inspiration, your teachings and the hope I find in your words. Will keep coming back as long as you are there. Namaste!
I was looking for yoga that would take me to the depth of my being I saw you and I started practicing this class for the first time I was fascinated by it I am going to use you in my favorite yoga I am 66 years old and I do not stop doing my yoga thanks Namaste🙏
So beautiful. I am blessed to have found yin yoga at 75 after years of practising yoga and then feeling a bit estranged from it. This is just what I need in my life right now. Thank you to all the wonderful yin yoga teachers.
You have extraordinary skills. I am doing your class every morning and enjoying my inner soul. Love from india Nd I really mesmerized your last word, Namaste 🙏
I have done many styles of yoga over the 50 years that I have practiced but this was my first ever yin yoga session. I really appreciated it. Thank you.
Thank you Travis for this challenging yoga stretch. I used be so flexible but as I got older, I am almost 70, I became stiffer and stiffer. I couldn’t hold the poses as long as you said but I feel much better even after this first practice. I will be practicing this every night as sleep has been a problem that came with age. But with you I know I will reach my flexibility goals. YOU ARE GRRRREAT…
Loved it. Travis can you do a yin yoga session with medicine or Tibetan bowls going in the background instead of music. That way we get vibration healing and the healing from yin.
I just found this routine a couple weeks ago and already I’ve incorporated it into my life regularly. It helps to relieve overall muscular tensions and help prevent headaches. I’ve been doing yin yoga videos since the pandemic hit, but this one had become my new favourite for when I have a bit more time to spend. So relaxing and rejuvenating!
I’m getting stronger I did this routine 6 months ago and I was in pain I did it today and don’t feel as much pain it’s getting better ❤️🩹 thanks 🙏 Travis
I love Travis's teaching. I was a member of IDTV but have unfortunately had to cut back my subscriptions for the time being, hope to be back as a member soon! I can highly recommend it, its by far the best yoga teaching I've found.

Hi Travis, Just finished your class, I have been living with chronic pain my entire life. Since starting your classes my pain has become so much more manageable it’s insane!! I am so Grateful for your classes Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are amazing.
First time on your channel. Thank you for the interesting stories and psychological tidbits. I was surprised that I had a series of somatic releases when stretching certain parts of my right leg. Stirring the emotional pot. It's good. Thank you Travis (my grandfather's name...I think it means gate-keeper).

Yes, exactly!
Yoga shouldn't hurt. Reposition if you're hurting. Life shouldn't hurt, either

The way to talk during the practice just makes us complete it
