    Like I've been saying... Those 7k axles aren't up to what we do! The leaf packs just can't handle it over time. They are homeowner axles or local contractors moving equipment from jobsite to jobsite.. Unfortunately, it's just the beginning. And don't listen to these guys that are telling ya to get torsion axels. If you screw up a torsion axle, you gotta cut the whole thing out and replace it as opposed to just replacing a couple parts. You want 8k axles and 17.5-16 ply tires. The HD axle starts at 8k.. All you can do in the interim is get 14 ply tires and baby those equalizers. Don't twist that trailer with weight on it. Stock up on all trailer parts so you can service your trailer when you are home....YOU WILL CATCH ALL THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE HAND...The bushings wear out first, then it takes out everything else. Everytime you go home, you gotta rip those hubs apart and check everything out... especially 7k axles. Just sharing my experience and what it takes to stay off the side of the road. Also, you need to look up inside the equalizers and make sure the welds didn't break inside the equalizer and leaf spring hangers. I missed this my first time and broke more stuff...CHECK THOSE WELDS BROTHER! INSIDE ALL THE HANGERS!! They put one tac weld on the friction plate for the slipper spring. Again, just giving you a heads up. If anybody defends the 7k axle setup, they must have 7k axle setup.

    • @bryonsusedautos
      @bryonsusedautos 2 года назад

      The axles where fine it was the cheap made spring pack pj uses! There isnt a problem with 7k axles lol.

    • @JackDBIack
      @JackDBIack 2 года назад

      17:50 Well I'm now trailer or axle specialist but that looks like a bent axel right there.

    • @All-Miles-Matter
      @All-Miles-Matter 2 года назад +2

      It's not bent actually. The 7k axle is cambered. It comes bent like that...when you add weight, the axle is supposed to level out. When you go up to a 8k axle, ya get a straight axle... not cambered. HD axles actually start at 8k...thats when the straight axle begins.

    Macc I like the way you managed the situation, you didn’t panic or get all crazy about it, sometimes it’s better let the professionals do what they do and pay a few $100 than try to do it ourselves and get hurt or mess it up even worse, glad you got it solved safely keep grinding my man.

    Good job on doing what you felt was right ✅. Being a hotshot and trucker is not always about fixing the truck and trailer yourself, you solved the issue your way and you back on the road and that's what is important. Many truckers try to bully people who don't work on their own setup and it's bs to have to that mentality. Keep it up and good luck with everything bro 👊💪🇺🇸💰

    At least you found parts! We do a bunch of camping, or "glamping" in our 5th wheel and Ive seen people get stranded for days because they cant find parts. The leaf pack isn't too bad on price so might be a good idea to grab an extra pair so you have it. One more note...ditch the standard trailer suspension and get a More Ride or Lippert Road Armor suspension, they come with grease-able bolts and brass inserts for the leaf springs plus they're supposed to improve the ride quality by a bunch. Those plastic bushing are junk and need replaced all the time! Those kits are only around 500 buck for the whole set.

    The guy on the forklift should be way forward. If you put the load on the front of the forks it can’t handle the same weight. Here’s what I have learned, shit happen. On your list of things get some coveralls and some welding gloves.

    Bruh, I had a bearing to go out while carrying a load, and it ate the spindle up on my axle. I had to drop $2260 on site for a new axle. I purchased a used trailer. So, may I add that it happened on my very first legit load.

    I do have a question...I know u have a 2500 Ram but is it gas or diesel? Regular or 4or? Lastly what would be the min year for a truck? I'm seriously thinking about hotshot

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  2 года назад

      Hey thanks for following! My truck is diesel and its 4x4. If you are leasing on to company to start then you will have to see what their requirements are for how old the truck can be. If you are running under your own authority you can make that decision on your own and age doesn’t matter. Just more of a risk being over the road without warranty and more possible breakdowns depending on maintenance and how old the truck is. Just my opinion.

    • @williamdebow3478
      @williamdebow3478 2 года назад

      Good thing about dual axles. All he had to do was put something under the front set of tires and drive up on it. The back tires would come right up off of the ground. It's the best way to change a flat tire if you are in the middle of nowhere without having to use a jack.

      Yeah that lock isn’t the best in my opinion but it just adds a bit of work for someone to get to it. I don’t think any lock is theft proof completely but I believe this one is most definitely more durable

    I have a Ram 2500 about to get a 40ft 14k trailer, thats the only one the seller has available right now. My concern is how much weight I can haul with it. How much weight are you able to put on your trailer to keep in non cld ?

    • @irmagarcia8266
      @irmagarcia8266 2 года назад

      I believe you need a 3500?! I got rid of my 250 Ford for that reason, don’t risk it! I now have a 350 dually.

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  2 года назад +1

      It just depends on what your equipment is rated for. If your doing non cdl then you’ve got the right set up. Subtract your scale weight from 26001lbs and that will let you know what you can put on the trailer. But also keep in mind the drive and trailer axle ratings. As well as your gcwr. I’m actually dropping a video today talking exactly about this.

      @@HotshotMacc part of your pre-trip is checking your suspension on your trailer the u-bolts are part of the suspension and need to be checked to ensure they are not loose, leaf springs are also part of the pre-trip and are to be checked for missing or cracked parts.
