I know this video is 2yrs old lol but your statement about not being able to feel if you're damaging a trailer is incorrect. You can certainly feel/hear when your forks are touching a trailer. I can't speak for all loaders but I certainly try my best to keep my forks off the transporters trailer. Loading a wedge is not as easy as it looks depending upon how high the inner or outer rails are and how much clearance the particular vehicle being loaded has. Your trailer in this video is ideal as far as wedge trailers are concerned, gradual slope and not too steep of an angle. I appreciate your video, it's actually nice to have input from a knowledgeable transporter. This actually happens to be my location that I load out of lol but this video was before my time. Thank you sir and have a good day.
I’ve made some mistakes starting out, I’m so glad I found this channel. You break things down so perfect. You should do ride alongs or some type of training for students. Thanks so much and continued blessings to you.
If that first car were a fiat or Smart car, I reckon she wouldn't have cleared due to the wide open center on the Kaufman. One of things I didn't like about mine, some narrow vehicles just didn't fit. I would turn down UTVs and small cars due to that. But to be fair, those were few and far between. I loaded at a Copart in Avon, MN last week - simple as could be. In and out in less than 20 mins, picking up one UTV... and I took my sweet time taking pics for the customer prior to load. And, it was like 15 degrees out with ice so I wasn't being stupid fast either. Good stuff LM... ride safe out there.
Yeah that mirage was a pretty tight fit and the 370z I just hauled was super close to the inside rails. I haven’t had this trailer long but there are already several small things I’ve found that I’d change about it lol
Still learning a lot about the car side but I’m loving it. May just be because it’s something new but I really am enjoying it. 👍 Think I’m gonna stick with it a while.
I just had a truck loaded with forks, had him load on top since was IAA and wasnt sure, but after he loaded he said “oh it runs and drives!” 🙄🤦🏼 but guess saves time with ramps etc.
4 cars feel lighter then 3 ,if you balance the load out. 3k on the front flip out 3k on the next car suv on more then 4k for the 3rd and a 3k on the last flip out. Total weight 13k to 15 to 15.5 k maxs on the trailer itself

Not a fan of the lasso straps. I either use over the wheel or I have short 8’ ratchet straps I made from older longer straps and chassis strap the car to the trailer
Cool! Looks like your enjoying doing the cars! As long as the money still good that’s what matters. Got my IFTA/IRP appointment this Friday, then off to the races! Keep them videos coming awesome job!
I’ve never pulled campers or RVs. I’ve hauled several campers and trailers on my flatbed but not on the wedge. I don’t have a center track to secure the hitch
So knowing what you know now about hauling freight and cars, do you feel there is a flatbed type trailer that could haul three cars and freight? Just seeing if there is way to get the best of both worlds! Ha! Thanks
They are, I swear I always get a tire right up against a support beam and have to hook a notch or 2 away. What I really need is the swivel J hooks. It would make my life so much easier lol.
I’m home so much more and the availability is fantastic. The money could be better but it’s still good enough for me, I still need more time to piece together some numbers for comparison.
@@dell7054 I’m consistently grossing about 4,000-4,500 a week BUT I also haven’t worked a weekend since I’ve been hauling cars. It’s not because I can’t but it’s because I don’t want to and I don’t have to lol. So I generate that Mon-Fri pretty consistently. This week I just so happened to hit that mark by Thursday. It doesn’t sound like much but here’s the kicker....I’ve only driven 11k miles in 6 weeks lol. Big difference compared to chasing freight. 👍
Question for ya, with freight the shipper loads you and you strap down, right? So with cars, do they only load you when the car doesn't run? For running cars do you drive them on? Just trying to get a feel for what we'll be responsible for.
Most freight loads are loaded by the shipper, excluding some drivable equipment. Yes, I load every single car myself unless it’s inoperable from an auction and the forklifts put them on and take them off at the receiver.
That's what it was looking like from all the videos I've watched. Looking like we'll be doing mostly cars with the area we are in. I was looking closer at your straps. The straps I have saved to buy were freight straps, looking for car straps now. I had read that straps need to have the working load printed on the strap, I guess that makes better if the tag fades or rips, but I couldn't see anything printed on your straps, so is it not necessary? Just keep an eye for wear on the tag on the strap with working load printed on it?
So your comment was the reason no one wanted to load a lot at Copart and more was the the loaders are rough on the trailers and you have all vehicles that are just hail damaged so why didn’t you drive them all on your trailer ?
Some vehicles at insurance auctions run and drive but for the most part they’re not able to move. Dead batteries, flat or missing wheels, deployed airbags, no keys ect.
Some days it is. There’s a lot more of it around my home so the volume kinda soaks up some of the lower pay. I’d say so far I’m making about the same as I was per day with freight.
How heavy are the flippers? If not too heavy could you replace the cotter pins with quick clips and fab something below the deck to store them out of the way? I don’t haul cars so I don’t know if that’s practical or not, just a question that popped into my head.

Need that sound track in my garage gym
If you can find some 2" or 2 1/4" inch fire hose to use as a strap protector, works great

Thank you for these videos man., I’m about to start out on my own in the next few weeks. Your videos have taught me a lot 👌🏻 🙏🏻
That awesome to hear! Good luck out here!! 👍
How did it go?
Wow, i never thought about that, i have the heavier duty flat metal with holes 🕳 but that sucks with always dealing with front lassos.
Cool beans 👍 definitely different compare to freight
Good video LM....look forward to the vlogs they are cool!
Be careful on a nice car with that lasso ring near or touching the hubcap/wheel. It will scratch it going down the road.
Copart Peoria, many times have been there.. old but good times :((
I use the wheel bonnets, but car rub tires too
What’s the drive train on your truck and how do you like ?
Great video 👍 sometimes those straps are tricky.

I run my lassp strap threw the wheel it ain't going to hurt the wheel or strap if you keep it tight and its strong
Only problem is run risk of cutting your strap on the wheel that way, but it is effective
@@richardGT87 well I only do it on aluminum wheels
So far how you liking the car hauling vs freight thx great video

@@LoadMizer how do you like this so far? Does one need a CDL to start out? Would 3/4 ton truck with a 2 car trailer be a good start?

It does save a little time but one little slip and you’re sitting with a banged up trailer. All 3 of these cars can drive just fine lol
Time to start running 4cars,you got the flip outs
Weight is my hold back on that at this point. My rear axle just can’t scale it.
4 cars feel lighter then 3 ,if you balance the load out. 3k on the front flip out 3k on the next car suv on more then 4k for the 3rd and a 3k on the last flip out. Total weight 13k to 15 to 15.5 k maxs on the trailer itself
No more the 4 to 4.6k on the suv
But if you don't have cdl,I get you on the weight.
The f350 can pull 15 to 16k easy
Great video. How can I work for Copart or IAAI, there is a site to look for this jobs?

We run copart a lot into Dubuque Iowa.. Routleys auto! Call if you need a job?
Have you ever hauled campers or RVs since you’re close to Indiana? Have you ever put a camper on your wedge trailer?
I’ve never pulled campers or RVs. I’ve hauled several campers and trailers on my flatbed but not on the wedge. I don’t have a center track to secure the hitch
So knowing what you know now about hauling freight and cars, do you feel there is a flatbed type trailer that could haul three cars and freight? Just seeing if there is way to get the best of both worlds! Ha!

I've been wondering the same! Versatility, less wind resistance, better stability. And a shorter fall!
Bro the ratchets of the straps go in between the front and back wheels. Front pulls towards back and back towards front. Be safe.
Most people actually pull away. I prefer to pull inward but with the lasso I can’t, it won’t hook inside the flipper. Both ways work fine.
3 point stay as close tire as possible not able get hooks out tho closer 2 tire more secure it will b b safe
I’ve had a few hooks get stuck. Mainly on the far rear tire lol
Are you strictly hauling cars now or do you still haul Freight which one do you use most?
Running cars for now but I still have the flatbed. I think I’ll run cars for a while.
LM, J hooks should be as close to the tire a possible ✌
They are, I swear I always get a tire right up against a support beam and have to hook a notch or 2 away. What I really need is the swivel J hooks. It would make my life so much easier lol.

See you HAVE a winch on your trailer. Do you ever have any problems with the hook getting caught on the trailer at the back?
I haven’t used it yet. I’ve got it hooked to the frame and took the slack out to where the hook can’t fall off.
In and out 🤙✌️
Pretty much, haven’t experienced the long waits I’ve heard others talk about.
You don't have to be scared to get the straps as tight as possible it will not damage the tires
As tight as necessary has always worked for me.
THE STRAPS YOU USED ON THE REAR TIRES HAD RUBBER PADS. ARE THESE SPECIAL STRAPS MADE FOR SECURING AUTO 🚘?
Yes these are 3 point over the tire straps. They have 3 rubber blocks (cleats) that grip the tire for securement.

If you’re the buyer you can pick it up and drive it out but they pretty much bring everything to the gate on the forks. Running or not.
