Agree. When I first bought my 3rd gen I thought it was way too much technology but now seeing all the new cars and what they’re doing with them the 3rd gen seems like it’s going to be the last simple Tacoma
Bryan, Thanks for the detailed overview. I hope Toyota's decision to produce a new generation of Tacomas with a manual is a harbinger of a manual 4Runner. 🤞🤞
Thanks for making this. I’ve been considering finally letting my 99 4Runner go for a new midsize truck but initially wrote the Tacoma off as I only wanted a TRD off road which starts at almost $45k. These really don’t look like too much of a compromise for a base model and for the price I’d seriously think about getting an SR and adding some aftermarket off road stuff at my own pace.
10:36 that is to attach the bumper so it doesn’t fly away when you drive down the highway. Yes I would really prefer not to have chrome on my ‘23 TRD OR ACLB
Great review. Thank you so much. I have been a Tacoma driver since 2005. I've owned 4, and currently with my 23 Off Road Access Cab. First auto though. I can't get behind the turbo, and I don't like the rear of the truck. Also, I always get access cabs, so outside of the 4 runner, which is only 2 wheel drive, I can't get it anymore. Will see what transpires over the next couple years with these. The pricing is crazy here in Canada. Absolutely insane. Cheers.
You would think that hood struts would be standard equipment by now plus my sr is a 2017 it had dampers on thr tailgate a 4cyl 5 speed 4×4 drop down seats for emergencys or little kids two latge bins in the bed the suicide doors to get access to the rear of the cab so it wasn't necessary to move the seats up i personally liked the manual hand break over that electric one mine had a manual rear slidding window the gen 4 has a tiny little opening i love my analog speedometer and tac.power mirrors with defrosters that was very unexpected by me and my price was 28000 $ and it was built for modding white truck all black accents.
Recently purchased a 2023 TRD pro. My dealer has a 2024 Tacoma limited. I like my appearance better on my 2023 TRD pro and don’t like that Toyota removed the 4 cylinder engine. I’ll keep my v6
I was under the impression that all the double cab trucks had the link and coil rear suspension. This looks like it has leaf springs. Is it just the higher trims?
Thanks for the review. It's ridiculous the "manual" sr doesn't come with a 6' bed option. Why offer that cramped and virtually useless rear seating instead of a 6' bed "if you want a manual transmission?"
You'd be surprised how dirty new cars can arrive. That's why some people don't want them detailed here so they can take them to their personal detailer.
With the SR having the leaf spring suspension, how does that impact the towing and payload capacity? I just ordered one and the dealer has yet to have on the lot and Toyota for whatever reason hasn’t provided specific specifications on the SR 4x4 manual transmission models. What’s the door sticker on this say?
If you have a Manual SR on the lot, take a look in the driver's side door jam. Published online or not, it is legally required to be present on the vehicles GVWR information. @@AskforBryan
@@AskforBryan Here your numbers: The base Taco has 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. SR5 and above have 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Manual Tacomas see an ouput reduction to 270 hp and 310 lb-ft torque.
Stick SR has same power ratings as stick Sport and stick OR. All manual equipped 24s have slightly lower ratings than automatic versions. SR with automatic is significantly detuned.
People crying about turbos but driving on the highway every day with tractor trailers with a million miles on the original turbo lol. These engines have already been out in Lexus products. Y'all heard of Lexus right? The absolute most reliable manufacturer that exists today....
its funny how Toyota is convincing people that a 34k truck is worth 47k. It's sad Toyota takes advantage of people who don't know any better and will go in massive debt to get it. Sad to watch.

Too high for using as a true truck, too expensive and the Turbo 4 is out of it's realm for a truck. Have the same engine in my Highlander, unrefined, lacks power where you need it and is loud.

From Cali here. Our local dealers haven’t gotten any new Tacos yet. Been wanting to go see one in real life.
I'd be willing to bet they are going to get one any day now!

Yup. It's been on the road for weeks from Mexico to NC.
Both the tailgates and the hoods are aluminum in the 2024s. Those are high-lift jack points built into the frame below the rear bumper
