Does anyone know how to turn on or if there's a gear indicator on the instrument cluster for the manual transmission. I got mine about a month ago. Haven't figured it out yet.
This FINALLY answered my question. Ive heard the manual didnt start until the TRD package. Then i heard the sr extended cab got it but didnt have a manual option again until TRD. Like sr and sr5 double cabs didnt have it or something. I go to the d@mn toyota build page and they dont let you build any of the tacomas with manual option. FINALLY something that makes sense. They ALL have manual until trail hunters and any other hybrids. Thank God. I just want a sr with manual and a winter package. That is it. I dont want to spend 47k on a trd package with heated seats and steering wheel. When i am ready, i can have an E locker installed down the road in the sr. I spent 6 months with mixed chats on this topic.

Thanks for this video. I much prefer the simple black interior in the SR. I'm not sure why the upper trims make it look all colorful and fruity. I also like the black plastic over the chrome grills, etc. Am I the weird one?
I have a 2017 tacoma sr 4 cyl 5 speed its been a great truck one of my favorites was the extended cabs with the suicide doors it made it so easy to put stuff in the back the 24 tacoma has to be loaded on the passenger side because the front seat slides all the way forward to make it easier to put stuff in and get it out those back doors would be missed by me
Good video. I was wondering if toyota was going to offer 6 spd manual double cab with the 6ft bed? Tried to build one on the site but it doesn't offer it.
My 2017 tacoma is and extra cab it's a 4×4 with a 5 speed manual and it needs keys to start it witch I like it also has a long bed if the sr is the work version of the tacoma you would want a long bed also my truck had suicide doors for the back that make it much easier to load stuff the 24s don't have the small doors one of my first mods was red line hood struts toyota wants all this money for these trucks and you still have to use that rod to keep the hood up
Yup. SR Tundras are done the same way with less power. Of course if you you touch that ECU your warranty is gone forever. The M/T SR at least gets the benefit of more power.
The 5 speed manual sr was available when i bought my 2017 but i think they where no longer available for to many years in the gen 3 manual 6 speeds on the sport and off roads seemed to be all they came in.
Do you know if the manual will be available in the xtra cab? I need bed space not wasted interior room with a back seat that would be useless to me and I know Toyota is the only brand offering a manual in the US, I won't buy new if a manual is not available
Toyota doesn't do those unfortunately. They do have tables built online where you can reference each model and see what it's rated for. Towing is pretty much the same on a majority of them but the payload obviously has some adjustments.
I didn't think the MT model would be available this early on. Wow the rear leg room is trash. They should have increased the WB a few inches. I would be interested in the SR5 extra cab MT model. This might have more noise as its an SR and probably has little to zero sound insulation as evidenced here from the back of the hood. And yeah the front is bigger because they took space from the back. But loving that MT for sure.
Re cab room, I have heard the head engineer say that they intentionally made the new one exactly the same overall length as the prior version, so that people can still fit them in their garage. An important design "requirement".
DI motors are all loud. This one being the SR has no sound insulation under hood and firewall. Its going be loud in the cab every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Probably won't hear much on the higher trim models.
Yep the back seat is trash on this one. They probably looked at the numbers and saw that most don't use the rear seats much. They did fix the front seat comfort. They look at what the majority of buyers want. Knowing full well there would be a subset that will not like the changes.
No Tacoma has ever comfortably fit a car seat in the backseat. You can still get the same legroom out of the backseat in these as the outgoing ones if you don't adjust the front seats back too far. The previous Tacomas would not let you move the seat back that far so even the front two seats for cramped.
What's the deal here? You are in a new 2024 SR with a manual ... Cool. .. but going to Toyota's Build and Price, you can't get an SR or SR5 with a manual? It's only on the TRD options? Is this an early one-off or something?!
Manual comes in SR, TRD PRO, and TRD OFF RD. All three of them share the same engine power, difference is the features. If you are about having a manual with the same mechanical specs than the TRDs for $10k less is worth it
@johnfritze1108 In this generation the manuals will only be available in the SR and TRD Sport and TRD offroad trims. Because the new TRD Pro we'll have the hybrid engine they will be automatic only going forward.
The sticker doesn't really matter. This truck is already sold 2 days later. Each sticker will be different. All this had was some port accessories like PPF and the SR package with BSM, parking sensors, and the push button start.
I heard today the sr has the same engine as the upper models but it gets less horsepower and torque than the higher models and Toyota has not explained why this is it must be something in the computer programing this is another big let do
Correct. Tundra SR does the same thing. The 6MT Tacoma SR doesn't have this reprogram though. It's meant to improve efficiency and fuel economy for fleet buyers.
Bryan! do you know anyone interested in lending us there 24 Tacoma for 6K worth or suspension? I work for an aftermarket suspension company and we need a truck to measure. Thanks
Was willing to look past how ugly this truck is to get the manual. Then found out to pass emissions they tuned it to hang the revs for a second or two between shifts, completely ruining the driving experience. Canyon AT4 on order.
Unfortunately that's where the midsize truck market has gone. About the only thing less is a Chevy Colorado or a Nissan frontier and neither one of those are great options.
And the fact that it's the bottom of the barrel SR with no insulation under hood or firewall. Its will be much quieter on the higher trim models garannteed.
