Dr Pepper has just become the number two best selling soda in the country! After years of climbing the ladder, they're now at the top with behemoths Coca-Cola and Pepsi. No, they didn't pass up Coke and probably won't for awhile (if ever), but they did pass up Pepsi. So, what's the deal? Is Pepsi actually DEAD? Is this the end? Let's find out...

In Jamaica, it has been here for a while but I've just started seeing them on retail shelves and honestly, not really my style. Well... Cola is not my style in general.
It's pretty good. Kinda like a root beer with cherry and vanilla and a few other subtle flavours mixed in. The "23" on the logo stands for the 23 flavours it's supposedly made from. Like KFC with the 11 or 13 secret spices (depending where you live).
Come to the states I'll be happy to buy you one, mate
Here in Norway, you can find it in "import" or "global foods" shops. I've tried it once, and it was like drinking carbonated syrup. That's to say it's even sweeter than the sodas you can get locally. I didn't like it.

What we could hear at a restaurant in the future:
"Do you have Coke?"
"Is Dr. Pepper ok?"
In the future?
This has happened multiple times to me.
I thought about that, but 40% of their bottlers are owned by The Coca-Cola Co., and another 40% owned by PepsiCo.. The remaining 20% are independent bottlers, and Keurig-Dr. Pepper is more than content to keep it that way, because this is how their product is available regardless of whether or not a restaurant serves Coke or Pepsi products with the occasional exception, usually with Pibb Xtra in its place.
My guess is it'll be about another 50 years before such a thing happens (regularly and across the country).
I don't know. Has anyone checked on Dr Pepper?

Tbh blue is more appealing than red because red typically means danger or anger, whereas blue represents calmness and tranquility.
@@Sleeper____1472 It's different for food though. Many many ripe fruits are red or reddish in color while very few edible thinga are blue (only one I can think of rn is blueberries)

When I heard the news about Dr. Pepper being the #2 soda, I thought "I literally never met a single person who prefers it over Pepsi or Coke"
That's crazy, I have the reverse of DP and Coke 😂 The only person I knew that actually really likes Coke was my Uncle, and ONLY diet. And their creations only brought in money due to people curious out the taste or supporting the collabs- every person I've heard trying them all agree they land from mid to disgusting. Pepsi and DP reign in the Southern US states, along with Mtn Dew.
8:37 their newest is coconut, but then again I have no idea when this was written.
10:08 I do note that in both these cases you aren't comparing them to the Coca Cola branded equivalent(Powerade and Surge). I assume because it would undermine the point of the video. Pepsico effectively WON those two fronts, Gatorade and Mountain Dew have consistenly beaten out Powerade and Surge since they released, to the point Gatorade is to go-to default for sports drinks and Surge has been withdrawn from many markets like Canada.
There's also Sprite V 7-Up, and while Coke has the lead this is probably the closest fought battle, 7-UP holds strong.
His point is that the company's beverages in general are in a decline, not that they aren't in the lead, he shows the point further with the Gatorade to prime comparison, where Gatorade has been in decline while prime has been rising and even outdid it in Walmart sales
Powerade is way better and sells twice as much in Australia, Gatorade is horrible and too sweet like all American drinks
Interesting. Here in Germany all you see is Powerade. Gatorade is only in candy shops
There's also Crush V Fanta. While Coke has the lead in the states with the main flavors like Orange and is dominant in Europe, Crush has a massive lead in Canada and also outcompetes Fanta's secondary flavors in the US.
7 Up is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper. Pepsi is just the distributor for 7 Up and Dr Pepper in some countries.
This channel had the best transition from Matt. I don’t remember your name dude, but you do a fantastic job each video that hits my feed

Ice!!!!! Do a food theory on ice!!! Which last longer tap or bottle made ice? Or cubed, smash, Ball, chunk or etc? Which one will cool the drink fastest!?!
Cooling fastest and lasts longest will be based on surface area, so crushed ice will cool faster, but melt faster, larger chunks or cubes would last longer but cool slower.

Food Theory Idea: What’s the best liquid to dip cookies in?
Depends on the cookie! Chocolate chip, gingerbread, and speculoos cookies are AMAZING in coffee! Sugar and oreos are good in hot chocolate and milk is a classic for most cookies, especially those with richer flavors. Oatmeal raisin pairs well with the trash 😅
What are you talking about, man? Everybody knows the hierarchy ranking system and how it works:

I've never understood the "Cola Wars" between Coke and Pepsi. Both are really good, so it seems really silly that people think they have to be loyal to just one. Coke has a deeper, richer taste that pairs well with other flavors like vanilla, while Pepsi has a lighter and fruitier taste that pairs better with other fruits (which is why Cherry Pepsi > Cherry Coke). Since I like both, I always just but the one that best fits how I feel at the moment. But to be honest, I have barely bought any bottled soda since I got my Sodastream. And since Sodastream is owned by Pepsico, I guess they're making out like a bandit in my home. 😅

Hey, that's easy with the S'more collection, Pepsi, You just mix all three of them together.

Dr.pepper has been my main soda for like 25 years. It’s been my favorite for as long as I can remember.
Italy: hello, he still haves the silver
Never did I think the day would come where DR PEPPER of all sodas would eclipse Pepsi
Note, that this is only in the continental US, and only reflects sales for the flavour as opposed to the actual brand name itself. Worldwide is a completely different tale when you consider that Dr. Pepper is bottled by both Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, depending on which country you may be talking about.
@@steadholderharrington9035 Still, it feels weird just knowing that, even if it's only in the US
@@The_Emperor823 If it means anything to you, Coca-cola as a consumable soft-drink was first created in 1886, and Pepsi-cola was first created in 1893, and commercially available by 1898. But Dr. Pepper was born in 1885, so by rights if you go by date of creation, Dr. pepper should be #1, followed by Coca-cola at #2 and Pepsi-cola at #3.
But then, date of creation only counts as a matter of history, where-as its popularity is a matter of the taste buds of its customers and their overall preferences, and top flavour preferences always tend to flip-flop as people age and are replaced by younger generations and their own differing senses of taste.
Well Dr Pepper is better, so..

I think you can chalk this entire episode up to "Impressionable people sick and tired of the cruel world, find a moment of solace with the funny brand drink" end of story, honestly, I could not care which drink is more POPULAR, its about the TASTE, Dr.Peppers are rare outside of the US not counting Canada or Mexico, but actual EUROPE rare, and personally I prefer the mellow taste of a Pepsi vs the cold bite of a Coke and if I'm feeling spicy, Fanta.
Coke tastes very similar across most cola varieties, whereas Pepsi is more distinct.
"Impressionable people sick and tired... Find a moment of solace with the funny brand drink"
Are.. are you serious? Dr. Pepper has been one of the most major brands of soda available for decades.
And pretending like you're so ignorant as to think Dr. Pepper isn't relevant because it's not as popular in Europe, you need to remember:
US brands, US website, US is the largest and most relevant consumer base in the West.
@@TheGreatCosmicBoogerEaternobody said Dr.Pepper wasn't relevant. But when one drink does a tiny bit better in US while being basicly absent in EU, while the other one is doing still great in the US and also great in EU, the second one is gonna do better. You have to remember, even tho it's not always the most important for media or soda companies, the EU is a bigger market overall.
Also, even tho I'm not sure about this, I'm confident pepsi is doing much, much better outside of the west, where there is a lot of growing markets.

If you went 10 years without drinking a soda, you wouldn't really remember what they tasted like anyway. The taste of the exact same soda is very different when drinking it regularly vs drinking it after a long absence, so it wouldn't taste like what you think it would from a decade old memory.
And yet here in Aussieland, Dr Pepper doesn't even have a foot in the pool. You can only buy (some of) the range at specialty stores here, and for a markup -- typically anywhere between $2.50-$4 a can.
