Outside of the standard three big meals of the day - Breakfast, lunch, dinner - you should have something about half way between those meals. It's 5-6 meals per day, but not overly big meals. Should be eating something once every 2-3 hours. More active, the more often you should be getting something to eat.

That's definitely my favourite video of this channel lately. Nostalgia is the absolute key word for this one, and you nailed it straight on! It's bright, bold, big and eye catching, while also being super familiar and relatable. As someone who is Gen Z myself, I like the new Pepsi logo. Has a 1960’s esque look to it though some people will say it looks like something from the 80’s and 90’s which holds true as well. I think the reason why people in my generation is nostalgic and have a obsession with things from the past is things from the 90’s and on are plain and drab to things from the 80’s and up, most notably cars for example. Not only things from years ago have a unique styling and aesthetics to them, but are built with better quality as well. For example, I bought a GE Vortalex fan from the 1950’s last September (I am aware it’s not safe around small children since you can easily stick your fingers in it), wow, moves a insane amount of air and every fan I’ve owned has never moved the amount of air this one does. If I had a few more, could easily live without air conditioning since it moves that much air around.
Honestly, when you showed the new logo, my thought was, "What changed?" I'm not so familiar with the original that I instantly recognize a change like this. Maybe part of it is because it looks a lot like an older logo I grew up with, just with a different font.
Which is another advantage to tweaking logos to get new customers. I'm not going to be lost looking for the pepsi even though the logo's changed, it's similar enough to the old versions I know...
The moment I saw the new logo I knew they were pushing for a retro nostalgia vibe. Gotta say, it does take me back to when I was a kid and associated Pepsi's wavy striped globe with tricolor toothpaste, lol.
Growing up in the 80's a lot of places still had the Pepsi logo with the name in the middle. Just because it wasn't on the actual can, doesn't mean we didn't see the 1971 version on soda machines, in restaurants, and gas stations. So it's not just nostalgic for being super old, because it was still around for years.
I was a kid in the 1990's and a teenager in the 2000's. Now I lived in the rural parts of the USA such as Northwest Wisconsin and North Dakota, very close to the Canadian border, and I saw restaurants still have their 1980's Pepsi sign still being used as their main sign for their restaurant. For example, it would like a standard mom and pop pizza shop that tried to mimic Pizza Hut or Dominos, and the place would be a generic name like the last name of the owner's, and the sign to show you where that was in town, was simply an 1980's lit up Pepsi sign and below the 80's Pepsi logo was the name of the place in bold font just hanging above the main entrance. Of course you would go inside the menus also had the old Pepsi logo on it and even on the soda fountains too. This was the same for other brands like Coca-Cola or 7-Up as well.
I was on the fence when I first saw it, but after being reminded of the constant oversimplification of logos I think this is an excellent and much-needed complexity
The new design is pretty interesting. I find the theory interesting that Pepsi's sticking to their trend of being for the new generation via making it stand out among a sea of brands, as well as invoking a nostalgic feeling. Also, I have a random question; is there really a difference, either in flavor and nutrition, depending on what kind of cooking oil you use? Like, instead of using Olive Oil for everything, from the go to for frying foods or putting on my salad, which is pretty random; who thought of putting oil on salad, should I be using Avocado Oil, or Canola Oil? I've been trying to look up results and asking people who may know this stuff better than me, but the only concrete answer I've gotten is "Vegetable Oil is not made of vegetables," or something like that. So as cheap as it sounds to ask in a youtube comment section, I was wondering if you could do a theory on that...?
yYou definitely should not use olive oil for frying as it has a lower smoke point... Avocado or Canola oil is the way there Avocado and Canola oils are flavor neutral though so olive oil is much better for salads
Nutritional changes are definitely there, that's as simple as comparing nutrition facts. Taste is a little harder to measure though, so it's no surprise you didn't find any results for that. If I remember correctly, I think Good Mythical Morning did an episode about different oils you can use and they did find a noticeable difference.
You're absolutely right! I instantly noticed how the blue looked off and it caught my attention. I also felt good to see a more complex logo in a while which actually has some sort of personality!
I actually dislike the minimalistic tendency of new logos, and I would say returning to the old logo was a correct choice. I liked the old logos more than the current, so going full retro is cool.
I've always personally loved the 1992-2007 Pepsi logos. They convey motion, have a nice balanced appearance, had a nice font, and for some the late 90's and early to late 2000's branding actually made people want a Pepsi. I really like that they are bringing back the old Pepsi Globe, but the new font is a big turnoff.
i feel like the intro or just sometimes matpats script just says "rant out your ideas" and thats how we got this intro lol, these channels never cease to amaze!
Trueeeeeeeeee I'm sick of these flat logos that just don't look like anything. I may not be the biggest fan of pepsi, but I gotta respect the new logo, especially since it worked on me, their target audience of gen z.
I can sort of half confirm how fast Pepsi has been with switching/centering their attention to the zero sugar vs diet. At the Taco Bell I work at (and surrounding fast food restaurants) our Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew stickers, labels, syrups etc. have been replaced with Pepsi Zero Sugar and Mountain Dew Zero Sugar. They've been replaced for nearly a month now if I'm counting days properly here xd
Another thing I took note of is that a solid method of “clickbait” that Pepsi is engaging in is the fact that they’re even changing the logo at all. I’ve now spend 15 minutes thinking about Pepsi when I probably haven’t given Pepsi a thought in probably 8-9 years.
The moment I first saw it I instantly liked it! The fact that is does stand out, it’s bold and clear and it’s colors are not flat like others brands is great! I don’t even like Pepsi or soda in general, but I do like their logo!
As a Gen Z myself, you nailed it! I quite liked the new logo when I first saw it, even when I didn’t fully realize until now. Absolutely big brain appeal between its classic look and it’s uniqueness compared to the flat logos of modern brands.
I was instantly taken aback and intrigued by the new logo. It rly felt bold, appealing and retro and matt patt rly put my thoughts in to words. I love old stuff and already loved pepsi max more than coke so im even more happy with this style.
@@pug8714 HA! That's funny. Logos are incredibly important, probably one of the most important parts of branding. It definitely matters, 1,000,000 dollars worth of mattering.
We had Pepsi come to our college for an industry night (specifically chemical engineering and R&D) recently, and they talked about how they were focused on developing what pleased the consumers, as well as better sustainability (for example the box design was changed so that there would be slots for the handles and a little compartment to actually see the cans). The Gatorade pods were made for better sustainability if I recall correctly. To hear about that and then watch this, where even their brand is changed to keep with the times and their customers is really cool.
Day 2 of asking Andrew I. Crocker says "Been asking for awhile, but PLEASE do an episode on Aspartame, the artificial sweetener in all diet sodas, including your favorite. So much shadiness involved in its approval by the FDA"
It actually really does stand out when seen with all the other soda logos, makes you look at it and looking at it makes you consider drinking it, pretty clever
I think it's more the fact that they paid $1 million for it. It's not necessarily a logo that most people would think took lots of time and effort to have needed a $1 million payment.
@Xenofastiq There is a gigantic machine behind corporate rebrands, the difference is they run these things through massive amounts of design attempts, testing, and prototyping. The end result is no better than something a single person could have done, but the process with possibly tens to hundreds of people involved is where the $1 million went. The process guarantees that at the very least the logo they get at the end has been tested and manipulated to be performant for their target audience.
My gen Z friend had always liked old music, collecting old toys, and rarely ate anything with sugar in it. I always wondered why she was like this, but your explanation opened my eyes big time.
9:21 love that subtle newjeans reference. NewJeans is a group that actually ties in really well to the ‘gen-z likes retro’ part of the vid. NewJeans debuted with a Y2K style and was instantly praised for having a unique style or being the group to bring Y2K back. NewJeans is the group to bring that simple retro teen-age back in an industry absolutely saturated with bright lights and loud bass (things that are highly associated with 4th gen kpop and thus gen-z) I find that part quite interesting too, as someone who has an interest in graphic design it’s very interesting to see how much effort and small detail go in to smth that appears so simple and how weather you like it or not, it does have an affect on you.
I think a theory about the progression of Pepsi as a corporation would be cool too, they own so much other than just Pepsi, such as Rockstar energy and Frito Lays so I wonder what else they'll aquire
Pepsi was definitely named after pepsin, the digestive enzyme. It was advertised as a medicinal drink like the early Coca Cola, so not sure where the “dyspepsia” claim came from… even a quick trip to Pepsi’s website says it’s named after pepsin lol
@@johnr797 he has a huge research team to make sure that they get details right, but some might slip through the cracks. He's talked about this a lot in a lot of his couch episodes.
I'll be honest, I absolutely love this logo. I remember when I saw it, I audibly said to my friends "this logo is amazing. I'm gonna buy more pepsi from now on" and I've been a coke drinker for years. To me, I immediately loved that it was a design that had a lot of detail, but wasn't complicated. I hate minimalistic ads, so it was nice to see a company add more detail for once. The shine also reminded me of the pepsi logo I grew up with in the 2000's which had a big focus on ice, water, and condensation. Also, it's just very clean and pronounced, it reminds me a lot of an f1 race car for some reason
I actually am glad that Pepsi is bringing back and updated version of their old logo. When they first came out with their other logo ten years ago, I hated it, and I remember that there was A LOT of hate toward it on the Internet back then as well. Pepsi claimed that the new logo back then was reminiscent of a smile. I just thought it looked dumb. I love this new, updated version of their traditional logo.
Agreed, I think this logo is a lot better than their previous one. To be frank I could never unsee it being a person's belly with their gut sticking out under their red shirt when someone pointed that out.
I'm mind blown that people gave two sh!ts about Pepsi's logo, and let alone went online to spread hate. When I saw that logo, I probably just went "ah they changed it again, ok" and then forgot about it.
I feel like people don't hate the logo because of it's looks, it has become almost like a trend to hate on new changes that companies make because we've grown used to the bad choices of such companies to the point of automatically assuming a logo is gonna be worse the moment they change them as that's all we've been seeing for all these years
As someone who prefers the no sugar sodas, I appreciate them pushing towards that rather than coke who turned their coke zero bottles to the same shade of red as their regular soda. I'm sure it was because of their push "same great taste" but I like it because it's not as sweet, and now it's harder to tell if I'm grabbing the right ones.

No dude! That typeface is beautiful! Look at the last 3 letters. Look at the slanted underside of the P, the slant of the top end of the S and the slanted top of the I. The slant lines up perfectly with each other. It's so good! It feels so much more cohesive to me than the previous one.
I saw the new Pepsi logo a week or two ago, and I really liked it. It does scream nostalgic in a way, but with a different font that is fun with both the new generation and the old.
This is actually crazy that you say Pepsi tried to be "younger", I was just telling my friend how Coca Cola tastes like it's for old people. That's actually mind-blowing me rn lmao. I think Pepsi achieved what they were trying to do, and I wasn't born until way after all of this stuff.
This goes a long way to explaining why I approved of this logo change as soon as I saw it, while being more Gen X "ME Generation" personally, yet somewhat getting its appeal to the younger crowd. Except of course I didn't see the 'nostalgia'/retro connection; your Retro is literally my Nostalgic!
I think the biggest thing about these new logos is how it affects people with eye troubles or dyslexia like me I GENUINELY can't read that font and it infuriates me as a fellow young graphic designer that this it what companies think we want, trust me, we NEVER want stuff like that
Just wanted to preface since you mentioned it: Prime isn't crushing Gatorade. Gatorade's market share in the sports drink category is still over 80%, whereas Prime's is less than 10%.
there's a LOT of praise for the new logo in the comments, so i'm giving a new perspective. as someone who's gen z, i think they really fumbled with this because of one thing; they chose to bring back the logo from the 1970s. i personally have no nostalgic feelings towards stuff from that era as someone who was born in 2006, over 30 years later. i feel that this logo would play into the nostalgic feelings from people born in gen X or old millennials way more than it does for gen Z. i would've loved to see the early 2000s logo, or even the 90s logo come back, as those feel way more nostalgic. y2k aesthetics are really big with my generation right now and i genuinely can't believe they didn't take advantage of that. most highschoolers will probably not recognize that logo as an old one and feel nostalgic, as i definitely didn't.
This is true what you said they are doing! Both McD and BK rebranded to nostalgic designs earlier and BK almost tricked me with it, however I can't eat there anyways cause there's no gluten-free 😂 But all of the brands are now virtue-signaling with their healthy options. I would prefer way more if they did allergy-friendly and not healthy. I don't buy fast food for it to be healthy xD
For many itsxnot, like people can be lactose intolarant you can be intolorabt to gluten but even worse if you have coaeliac disease where the gluten basically glues together the little fissures in your digestive system which can be really really bad, more than just you feel a bit sick for some tim3 bad, because it is hard to unglue it and it basically prevents your b8dy from getting nutrients out of your food.
I think it would be interesting to see how different foods spoil, how you can make certain foods last longer, and some stuff like that. Ex. I have heard that if you store fruit separately it will ripen slower than if you store it with other fruit.
I feel like he talked about some of this in the how long could you survive in a supermarket video if you're curious, but I agree that a dedicated video would be neat.
I’m a person who prefers Coke (and probably always will), but I actually kinda like Pepsi’s new logo. I applaud their efforts at taking a huge risk like that, as I’m sure rebranding a logo is an incredibly tough business decision
Love this vid and the historical accuracy. I would be interested in a video about how marinating affect meat in like cooking and tenderness. I think it could be fun to do and see
I like the new logo, it reminds me of the logo that I remember from the 1980's when I was growing up. Now, I just wish that they would bring back Crystal Pepsi again.
Pepsi was originally called Brad’s Drink. When brainstorming the new name, I can only imagine one of the salesmen throwing up his hands after a long meeting and asking “I don’t know, is Pepsi OK?”
"Sorry, how do you spell "brad's drink"? I have dyslexia." "Dyspepsia?" "No, dyslexia. Dyspepsia means indigestion." "Even better! if we shorten it...oh my, you're a genius."
Genuinely, I saw a guy on RUclips Shorts solve an old Pepsi Can Puzzle just yesterday and thought “That’s still a much better logo.” And then today I come to find out they’ve essentially went BACK to an old logo and updated it, and I think it does look MUCH better.
Am I the only one who noticed the changed thumbnail? It used to be the new pepsi design next to a dumpster on fire. Now it's the new pepsi logo on top of one of those moving hypnotic things Also I'm pretty sure the title changed to I think before it was like "pepsi's 1 million dollar fail" or something like that.
Part of this too is Minimalization, most other brands are switching to a minimalistic design and colors are bolder and more eye catching. They look cleaner and it's also easier to design and cheaper to print. Look at the icons on your desktop, whether it's PC or Mac you might have noticed the icons have gotten flatter, and more cell shaded because it looks cleaner, more appealing to the eye.
As somebody from Gen Z, I can confirm that there is a big sense of nostalgia for the days before we were born. I know that most of the music I listen to was written before my time, and many of my friends listen to bands like Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan, especially if they can find vinyl of their stuff.
For a brand associated with Coca Cola a lot it’s surprising there’s more Pepsi related videos rather then coke ones
That's because coke is stable for the most part
Pepsi just does way too much shenanigans

All three of them ganging up on Matpat with their unique avatars made me chuckle
Avocado or Canola oil is the way there
Avocado and Canola oils are flavor neutral though so olive oil is much better for salads
Don't use vege oil not just bc its not made from veges but bc it is less healthy but idk abt the other ones
Vegetable oil is toxic avoid it like the plague.
Olive oil is really good for seasoning because unlike other oils it has a very distinct flavor.
Food theory idea: the cannibalism of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
It’s like whenever they taste the cinnamon powder they want to eat eachother 🤔
You're absolutely right! I instantly noticed how the blue looked off and it caught my attention. I also felt good to see a more complex logo in a while which actually has some sort of personality!
I actually dislike the minimalistic tendency of new logos, and I would say returning to the old logo was a correct choice. I liked the old logos more than the current, so going full retro is cool.
It's strange cause I saw this new logo and INSTANTLY liked it, loved it even, compared to the previous one. Mostly because it does look retro.

Trueeeeeeeeee
I'm sick of these flat logos that just don't look like anything. I may not be the biggest fan of pepsi, but I gotta respect the new logo, especially since it worked on me, their target audience of gen z.
finally we are the target audience and we all unanimously hate these flat logos! now other companies will follow
I was genuinely confused when Mat said that some ppl don't like it. It's my first time seeing this rebrand and i thought it looked great
So true, I don't like Pepsi, but I'm tired of logos becoming oversimplified

I can sort of half confirm how fast Pepsi has been with switching/centering their attention to the zero sugar vs diet. At the Taco Bell I work at (and surrounding fast food restaurants) our Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew stickers, labels, syrups etc. have been replaced with Pepsi Zero Sugar and Mountain Dew Zero Sugar. They've been replaced for nearly a month now if I'm counting days properly here xd
I feel like people are still gonna call them “diet” regardless.

@@yaboyzelly03 Diet cuts back on the caffeine while zero is usually "zero sugar"!
It's just a logo. It doesn't matter really

To hear about that and then watch this, where even their brand is changed to keep with the times and their customers is really cool.
as a highschool media design major this whole hit the nail dude, it made me smile so much to see

i do that too
That's actually relatable 😂
Looking at a bunch of GTLive vids, yeah he kinda is
It actually really does stand out when seen with all the other soda logos, makes you look at it and looking at it makes you consider drinking it, pretty clever
I think the new logo is an upgrade in a lot of ways, not sure why anybody would be upset by it. Although I do agree its too big on the cans .
I think it's more the fact that they paid $1 million for it. It's not necessarily a logo that most people would think took lots of time and effort to have needed a $1 million payment.
@@xenofastiq True true, but also big win for the designers 🤣
@Xenofastiq There is a gigantic machine behind corporate rebrands, the difference is they run these things through massive amounts of design attempts, testing, and prototyping. The end result is no better than something a single person could have done, but the process with possibly tens to hundreds of people involved is where the $1 million went. The process guarantees that at the very least the logo they get at the end has been tested and manipulated to be performant for their target audience.
Bad logo 😡
Nah i dont like the logo Pepsi is a Greek for digestion Πέψη its literally so huge and here rhe sont use the original word
My gen Z friend had always liked old music, collecting old toys, and rarely ate anything with sugar in it. I always wondered why she was like this, but your explanation opened my eyes big time.
I like the new logo. I like the boldness of it and yet maintaining the minimalism on the can (if they are going to be same as the renders).
9:21 love that subtle newjeans reference. NewJeans is a group that actually ties in really well to the ‘gen-z likes retro’ part of the vid. NewJeans debuted with a Y2K style and was instantly praised for having a unique style or being the group to bring Y2K back. NewJeans is the group to bring that simple retro teen-age back in an industry absolutely saturated with bright lights and loud bass (things that are highly associated with 4th gen kpop and thus gen-z)
I find that part quite interesting too, as someone who has an interest in graphic design it’s very interesting to see how much effort and small detail go in to smth that appears so simple and how weather you like it or not, it does have an affect on you.
they also released a song for zero come 💀
I think a theory about the progression of Pepsi as a corporation would be cool too, they own so much other than just Pepsi, such as Rockstar energy and Frito Lays so I wonder what else they'll aquire
They can barely handle the acquisitions they already have😭😭 coming from a warehouse employee 😂
6:53 Matthew, put your phone on the table. Right now.
I like the new logo for Pepsi. The bold outline really makes it pop and compliments the font in the center.
Pepsi was definitely named after pepsin, the digestive enzyme. It was advertised as a medicinal drink like the early Coca Cola, so not sure where the “dyspepsia” claim came from… even a quick trip to Pepsi’s website says it’s named after pepsin lol

I thought it was a ship's sail - it was the lowercase text that really let it down.
The old logo had a whole manifesto about it
Agreed, I think this logo is a lot better than their previous one.
How dare you say hate in the Pepsi logo I don't like the new logo
I feel like people don't hate the logo because of it's looks, it has become almost like a trend to hate on new changes that companies make because we've grown used to the bad choices of such companies to the point of automatically assuming a logo is gonna be worse the moment they change them as that's all we've been seeing for all these years
Same goes for ads. If something is targeted at your demographic group, it DOES NOT MEAN it's automatically "bad" or "disgusting"
I dont like the taste of sweetners, that is why since Sprite replaced some of its sugar, I dont buy it anymore.
I'm allergic to all zero/low cal sugar options si I dislike the push.
My mom is diabetic, I actually had to stop her before she drank a regular Coke and needed to waste insulin
@@bookbook9495 Artificial sweetners increase insulin resistance. It's best to stay off these sugary delights.
There's a reason why artificial sweetners are used in fig fattening so that the pigs eat more.
zero sugar still isn't good for you, cause they add artificial sweeteners to make up for the lack of sugar.

Except of course I didn't see the 'nostalgia'/retro connection; your Retro is literally my Nostalgic!

there's a LOT of praise for the new logo in the comments, so i'm giving a new perspective. as someone who's gen z, i think they really fumbled with this because of one thing; they chose to bring back the logo from the 1970s. i personally have no nostalgic feelings towards stuff from that era as someone who was born in 2006, over 30 years later. i feel that this logo would play into the nostalgic feelings from people born in gen X or old millennials way more than it does for gen Z. i would've loved to see the early 2000s logo, or even the 90s logo come back, as those feel way more nostalgic. y2k aesthetics are really big with my generation right now and i genuinely can't believe they didn't take advantage of that. most highschoolers will probably not recognize that logo as an old one and feel nostalgic, as i definitely didn't.
I personally love the "new" logo, I wonder if anyone else feels the same.

I love Pepsi, so it was just weird to see a new logo. But I still love it 😁🥳

Gluten is a scam
For many itsxnot, like people can be lactose intolarant you can be intolorabt to gluten but even worse if you have coaeliac disease where the gluten basically glues together the little fissures in your digestive system which can be really really bad, more than just you feel a bit sick for some tim3 bad, because it is hard to unglue it and it basically prevents your b8dy from getting nutrients out of your food.
