Magneto’s backstory was that he was a Jewish boy who was sent to a death camp during the Holocaust, where his entire family was killed. This formed the background for what he believes and why he acts the way he does.

1. They usually say "my [something] is better than [your/this youtuber's] content/[something].

That mentality is what lead to Wonder Woman '84, Rebel Moon, and the Star Wars Prequels. We don't need to kick the producers out and promote the creatives; we need to foster a balance between the two.

The corporation, by law, must do all it can to benefit it's shareholders. They can literally be sued if they don't. It creates the perverse incentives we see where companies to absolutely anything they think will benefit their shareholders the most, because they must.
The issue are the laws around corporations. The executives can still make bad decisions, but they will make ones that may hurt us, because they have no legal duty to us or anyone else, only the shareholders.
The X-Men were so big at their peak, they may as well have been their own brand seperate from Marvel.
Honestly, I've always preferred the X-men as their own thing than part of the larger Marvel Universe. It just makes more sense and the roster is large enough that it could be its own thing (as the 2000s movies and most of the animated series show).

Hey, I saw what you did there, and your writers are still top-notch and brilliant.
This is not a theory, this is just a history lesson which comic fans have known for quite a while. It's still funny how Disney fixed everything they ruined with the mutants the moment they got their hands on them.
Disney didn't hate the X-Men. They just hated that such a valuable IP was owned by a rival studio.
I was wondering when Film Theory would tackle this topic. I mean, Bob covered this YEARS ago on either "In Bob We Trust" or "The Big Picture" (I forget which) and as a guest writer, it just makes sense that Team Theorist would cover this topic.

You know, when I first watched the X-men animated tv show, I looked at my father and said, “I really like morph, he’s cool,”. My father just looked at me after that, with pain in his eyes. R.I.P Morph.
First time it was broadcast I had a similar thought.
One of the few from my youth I still remember, for it didn't shy away from the 'darker' side.
Morph's always been interesting to me. They were the show's OC, they were killed off immediately, then they were brought back, but not really as a member of the team, then they were, and now they're...a knockoff of Spider-Man's Chameleon? I feel for them the most because it really feels like no one knows what to do with them! An outcast among outcasts!
After what happened with the sequel Trilogy in Star Wars I'd be surprised if there was a franchise out there that wasn't afraid of Disney

Was on a X-men marathon awhile ago… I realise the One Piece Devil fruit powers = X-men.
Devil fruit powers I believe were originally randomised, from very vague and anonymous fruit designs to how odd powers were. Only to be retconn and every devil fruit power is “fate”.

if all of Disney banning X-Men's merch is real, that could explain why Marvel vs Capcom Infinity didn't get to star the X-Men only to push MCU characters and also why only now MvC games are surging from their graveyard in the latest Nintendo Direct

Honestly the worst part about that was they kinda lied that the X-Men would appear later as DLC. Granted, I only said "kinda" because the game did pretty poor in sales so any future plans for that game were scrapped, so we'll never know if that was ever gonna hold true.

@@robertstull8759 I mean the "lie" was from Feige IIRC, and his statement about it was probably the first hint of Disney's Fox acquisition, which was properly announced three months after Infinite's release. So maybe they were hopeful to release them as DLC in 2019.
But to me that... is pretty unrealistic, even if Infinite did great in sales, the budget and return investment were mostly going towards the licensing. It would've had to outdo Capcom's Monster Hunter series to commit for that long.

Being someone that's collected X-men comics since the mid 80s I've witnessed Disney's attempts at destroying the X-men first hand, especially thru the comics and it's been so frustrating. Now that they own these characters I see the pathetic attempt to rectify their damage.

Oddly enough, mutants could be the answer that Disney/Marvel Studios needed to get "Blade" out of its developmental funk.
It's not that tough -- Blade finds vampires, he fights them, he ends them, and moves on. But... what if there were a REALLY old vampire? And.. what if said vampire were a mutant?
One exists -- her name is Selene.
Just have the Daywalker deal with Selene and her army. This movie would be the bridge between the Midnight Suns (you know they're gonna make a movie with them) and the X-Men.

This is an example of what's called the Fandumb Menace. Fans will see things from a twisted Nostalgia that their version of the thing is perfect or any changes are Heretical and thus try to blame it on everything they view as bad, from more women and POC characters to changes in franchise direction, the Fandumb has always got its Rose-tinted Nostalgia Goggles applied so tightly to their faces they might as well be blind. Fox also contributed to the issues by pumping out subpar X men films that did not do well except for Logan and that was because it was adapting a REALLY good story.

Disney sabotaging X-Men in the 2010s also was seen in the Marvel Heroes game, which had the rights to use X-Men in it, and they did, but had to tread carefully as anything they did to promote X-Men in the game was punished by Marvel/Disney.
I actually noticed that the Inhumans were doing more X-men type plots in those years but I had no idea that Disney was actively pushing it! Thanks for the info!

Talk about a deep dive that strikes hard; I had always wondered why X-Men got sidelined so hard in the 2010s.
Unfortunately, Disney's practices have already led me to just, stop being a marvel fan though. I'll cherish my memories of the old content, and find solace in the smaller groups making stories instead.

This was a great video. I stopped read comic books a while back and didn't know what was happening. Didn't realize that the X-Men were being slowly removed because, of Disney. This was a nice way to catch up with main X-men plotlines too...

I 've often heard fans complian about how Marvel writers like to torture Spiderman. Considering that it's Sony that owns the Spiderman film franchise, and not Disney, I now wonder how much of this torture is just normal and how much of it is encouraged by Disney.

Problem started before Disney bought Marvel. FOX bought the X-men character rights from Marvel when they were in a money crunch. Sony bought the Spider-Man rights for a similar reason. Disney has been trying to get them back ever since buying Marvel because they haven’t been contractually allowed to make the stories that you want.
Disney buys a company/studio and runs their franchises into the ground? I’m shocked!

I know I may be a little late to say this, but can you please make a theory on The Amazing World of Gumball, it has so much lore and hidden meaning in it. And it brings back so many memories.
Y'all are way behind the curve on this. Anyone that was paying attention during the last decade already knew that studio politics was destroying X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man. The blame is not all on Disney. Fox and Sony deserve just as much blame, because they were constantly pushing out garbage movies just to maintain their hold on those properties, while refusing to sell them back to Marvel, where they belonged. Sony is still doing this with the side Spider-Man characters. That's why I was so glad Disney bought Fox to put an end to some of this nonsense. Now Marvel will be happy to include X-Men and Fantastic Four in anything they can. Now they will bring them back. Saying that we should be worried about what they do with them next is just because you want to hate on Disney when, in reality, now that they are back under Marvel's control, Marvel will do them right. I mean, we've already seen evidence of that with X-Men 97.
