  • Today we look at the new Seiko Land Tortoise SRPG15K1.
    This is a great-looking field/explorer styled watch with smaller dimensions than its close cousin, the SRP series Turtle. The reduced measurements, most notably the 11.8mm thickness is very welcomed here, and I reckon this watch will be well-received by Seiko fans.
    With a flat sapphire crystal and pocket-friendly price tag, this one is definitely worth checking out.
    This watch was kindly loaned to me by Hour Boutique. I do not profit in any way from filming this review.

    Love your point about "land" tortoise, haha! Spot on. Let's say tortoise.

    This wears much better than the Turtle for smaller wrists and I think Seiko has a winner here. Can forsee lots of variants and colorways coming out soon.

      Agreed. The sapphire crystal upgrade and smaller case size really make this model a great choice.

  • @yoinkhaha

    To use the compass bezel, make sure you are not set to daylight savings time, then, in the northern hemisphere, point the hour hand toward the sun and put the "S" for south halfway between the hour hand and 12 o'clock. Adjust as time passes. In the southern hemisphere, the same sorta thing except point the 12 o'clock marker at the sun and bisect the angle to the hour hand with "N" for north.

      @@AndyinSG Addendum... in the southern hemisphere, it's apparently actually to point 12 o'clock at the sun instead of the hour hand, and then bisect the angle to the hour hand with N for north. I corrected the comment.
      This is all very puzzling to me but then again toilets flush the other way and there's kangaroos and springboks so who knows what's goin' on with the sun down there, up is down and down is up haha

    Thanks for the review, you are one of my favorite watch reviewers. I like your way of presentation. I am watching a lot of videos as I am looking to buy my First Seiko Watch, and I think I might be going for this one. Considered the DRESS KX SRPE63K1 and the Turtles with my budget, but am a bit wary due to size of the turtles, so the tortoise looks like the way to go for me.

    • @AndyinSG
      @AndyinSG  2 года назад +2

      Hey, thanks for dropping by.
      If you like the Turtle but want a smaller watch, then this Tortoise is a good choice. The DressKX series are also quite similar but without that scalloping on the mid-case.
      Pick your favourite colourways slowly and carefully. Good luck in finding your watch.

      Thanks for dropping by. Comparing this and the SRP series turtle, I think this new Tortoise actually wears much nicer as it sits lower. But of course the heritage and “Bromance” of Seiko divers cannot be underestimated.

    That's a gorgeous watch. I'm in doubt between this and the green alpinist. Any thoughts?

    • @AndyinSG
      @AndyinSG  2 года назад

      Tough call. The alpinist is probably more versatile, especially on a bracelet. The tortoise definitely sportier and more toolish. For me, I have a few diver style watches already, so I may opt for alpinist.
