I had to subscribe not only for the great review on the scope, but also for all the work you put into this. Having cameras at each target then the the post production editing for the all video footage. Thank you!
Super high quality video. Love the view through the scope the entire time, you, the targets and the clear explanations on what's happening. Im feeling a little spoiled here!
With what ammo, velocity, and zero? 12.5” doesn’t have the velocity for the bdc to line up at each range/calibrated subtension all the way out to 600 yards. Not even with M855 like it’s calibrated for, and definitely not M193. If you’re getting hits at 600 yards and holding at the 600 yard subtension on the scope, you’re way high at lesser range.
@@kotaboy32 thanks, I'll have to look into that. Went ahead and bought a Remington 700 with bull barrel and outfitted with a Night Force scope, before figuring out where to shoot. Just knew it was something I wanted to learn. Thanks
Same thing around me, the longest range in my area is 100 yards, even on my property of 26 acres between the hills and woods the best I can get is around 65 yards and I had to clear several small trees for that.
What I'd like to know, is how is the glass clarity on this compared to the platinum series? There isn't a huge difference other than that as far as I know?
I love the ACSS reticle on my PA 4-14 but I find it way to busy on my PA 1-6. Good News! I just preordered the PA 1-8 Raptor, Bad News! I have to wait until July/Aug for it to ship. Stimulus money well spent.
@6:20 is a great example of how just a minor muzzle deviation can result in a bullet going some place very far from where it was ever intended to go. We can also see your finger still inside the trigger guard when you come up to address the camera. I am sure you are a seasoned and accomplished shooter and there probably isn't anyone in that stand of trees your muzzle is pointed at but this is a great example of why basic rules are sooo important. muzzle discipline and trigger finger discipline should always be observed by all shooters all the time. thanks for the video though I am looking at purchasing one of these scopes soon for a new AR308 build
Excellent camera work.....Excellent shooting as always 👍🇺🇸.....Ya i have that scope on one of my wish lists for 2020.....Stay Safe.....Steve from Illinois 👍🇺🇸
Sorry you could not make it up to the range on Mon. We had a bit of snow and it was cold but ZERO wind. Pretty rare up there but sure was nice shooting.
That’s funny because of out of my 16 inch LWRC when I move up to 62 grain green tip my shot moves right 🤷🏻♂️ I wasn’t getting very good groupings at 100 to 300 yards. They were like 3 to 6 inches and I’m looking for 1 inch groupings with an LPVO I thought something was wrong with me until I saw your shot pattern. It looks very similar to mine
I recently purchased a raptor 1-6 and really trying to learn this scope as it’s my first ffp lpvo. Are you zeroing at full zoom (6 power for me) at 100 yards? Want to make sure I’m doing the right thing to be as accurate as possible
You have probably already found your answer but... With a ffp it does not matter what power of magnification you use. Your hold overs and distance measurements on the reticle remain the same at all magnification settings.
@@lessforloans, it depends on what you want to use your rifle for. I have a 1-6 ffp on my home rifle. At 1x it's essentially a red dot. At 6x obviously a scope, lol. I don't really use 2-5x. Either 1x or 6x. I have a couple of other rifles that are for medium to long range and I plan on using a minimum of 4x low end, preferably 6x, to a maximum of around 15x, ffp of course. If I were doing more long range shooting I'd go with a low power of at least 4 because usually at 4x the reticle is large enough to use. Typically under 4x the reticle becomes a "red dot" meaning the hash marks/range estimate/windage/etc are too small to use. I personally prefer the ffp because of the ease of use. There are pros and cons to ffp and sfp but to me that is a huge plus for the ffp. It's true that ffp scopes typically cost more than sfp scopes but with today's market and offerings it's very possible to find a good solid ffp for a good price. (I don't have personal experience with different brands or reticle variations. It's entirely possible and probable that there are scopes that I don't know about that are able to do things I'm not aware of, like there could be a scope that has a big usable reticle on 2x. My limited experience and knowledge has been that 2x isn't enough to make the reticle usable but, like I kind of said, I could be wrong. Sorry if that was a little longer than expected. I'm not an expert. That's just my humble opinion on ffp/sfp)
I’m looking at buying the SFP scope for my 3 gun and rifle match set up. My mindset is with SFP the red dot should be like an EOTech at 1x and be usable at 8x when I need to go at range. I feel like the 1x is too small on the FFP version for close cast acquisition. Do you think SFP is good for my idea of thinking or should I get the FFP? Normally all my long range scopes are FFP for obvious reasons but I see that being a draw back for a close and medium range set up. What do you think being you own this optic? FFP too small for fast close targets or is the SFP too large at 1x?
I run the platinum for 3-gun. It is ffp. The reticle is lite very bright so when at 1 power it's like a red dot. This one is not quite as bright. So your thinking of second focal plane will work just fine. My back up rifle i run the razor hd with the jm reticle and it's a second focal plane
The idea behind a reticle on the first focal plane is that it resizes with magnification such that the MIL/MOA/ranging is correct at all magnifications.
Hi, I loge your video. I do have a questions however, how would you differentiate between a target that is 100 yards and another that is 200 yards using the reticle? Thx
Top of the arrow is 100. Bottom inside top of the arrow is 200. Tip of the vertical line is 300. That being said barrel length and bullet weight/velocity will have different drop rates. This type of reticle works best with first focal scopes. Most second focal scopes have to be at a specific magnification (usually max) for the drop to be calibrated correctly.
The only 2 LPVO I will ever buy is the Trijicon TR24 or P.A. with ACSS. I absolutely love what P.A. is doing . This optic 5 to 10 years ago would if been well over 2k. Now you can get an outstanding piece of glass for well under 1k. I do prefer the FFP .
I like the scope and the ACSS..I dont care for the Horseshoe that much.I like the Raptor scope just not all the reticle.I love the TAXI CAM...That is a great improvement .Good video.
Great video! Quick question... when shooting long range and using the magnifier is your hold still the tip of chevron or the line marks? New to the LPVO game and planning on getting this.
Something, or his barrel just really hates that ammo. I’ve got cheap ass 55gr I loaded with h335, random charge and loaded 1000 and it’ll still shoot 1.5-2moa at 500
Very nice video and I am currently waiting on this scope to come back in stock to get one for on top of my PTR 91. What range was that at in PA? Is it private property or is it a gun club? I live in PA and would LOVE to find a range like that. Everything around my area is 200 or maybe 300 yards at most. I’d love to be able to practice 500-600 yard shots. Thank you for any info.
in order for the math to check out on these acss type drop compensators you do a 50-200 yard zero same as a 3x acog that way all the markings on the retical work as demonstrated.
Awesome video. For the price this scope is amazing. Wish the reticle was brighter but you need to buy the platinum version to get that I guess. Still an amazing scope esp for the money.
Awesome! -Dimitri
Primary Arms, LLC Great job on this Demitri
Dimitri, any word when this is going to be in stock? Thanks for offering a great product!
You guys rock! Best FPP for the money imo
Just purchased one.
I can't express enough just how much I love the ACSS reticle.
I'm still learning about the ACSS. If I am correct isnt it designed more for upper torso shots rather than a tight group?
Once you learn the ACSS, it's like having Dimitri with you, spotting for you. LOL I agree too, love the ACSS and PA's scopes.
F18M 223 I hit at 8” plates at 600

One hell of a presentation. Very clear. More than what others are doing for demos. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Rafael Zamora yeah this video was great.
You deserve some credit for that rapid fire course of fire. Hitting at 600 yards like that isn’t easy
That was a very nice demonstration. All those cameras..and the weather cooperated nicely.
That Tacticam is freakin awesome. What a great tool for doing scope/reticle reviews. I'd love to see it mounted to a Schmitt & Bender lol

Wow! This is a great review. Possibly one of the best. I've subsequently went through and watched several of your videos. Your channel is fantastic!
I got a 1-6 raptor on a 12.5in ar. I get hits on 600yr ipsc from prone with a backpack as a rest. These scopes are great.

From the reviews I’ve seen there is a difference at the edges/fishbowl but other than that they’re comparable
I’ve got the 1-6 on a 14.5” BMC that I love. Toying with moving it to a lessor upper and upgrading the BCM to this 1-8 or the PLx 1-8.
