For the Nx8 I don’t know how recently but they offer a capped turret model with with a different reticle that is much less cluttered at high power for longer range shots. As well as a different color option

If Primary Arms could get the same red dot brightness as the Vortex Razor 1-6 they would own the lpvo market!
They do with the nova 1-6. Unfortunately that level of brightness is really difficult to pull of on a FFP retical.
I've never seen index clips. I just have a silver sharpie that I mark rails with.
I put the NX8 on a SCAR17 for now, but I may get the ATACR and put this on a 16" 5.56.
Overall, I do like the scope. I was surprised how small and light it was.
I have the PLxC Griffin and 2 versions of the NX8, the new FC-DMX with capped turrets and the FC-MOA. I have run them all very hard in multi-day run and gun events with shooting from short, fast stages to distances out 460 yards in all kinds of shooting positions with elevated heart rate. The NX8 FC-DMX is my favorite for that kind varied shooting even though the field of view is narrower and eye box is tighter at higher magnification. The ergonomics of the NX8 just work better for me when moving fast and doing a lot of weapon manipulation. For more casual shooting and hog hunting I like the PLxC. Both are very good and have their strengths and weaknesses depending on application.
@@southern842 I like the NX8 ergonomics better than the PLx. The NX8 zoom and lever are more functional, smoother and faster. The profile of the NX8 makes moving fast and slinging easier. It just works easier for me and I have shot better with the NX8 when moving and shooting.

Hey bud, I enjoy your videos and found this very helpful. I am actually considering these 2 scopes now. I'm a big ACOG fan, but occassionally need or want more magnification. I also need something tough. I'm that guy that can break anything without trying. My biases have me leaning toward the Nightforce, but the info in this video makes me think the PA scope might be better in terms of use.
Sorry for the late reply. I think the PA is a good option. People that have run them hard still seem to like them.
@compulsivegunbuyer Yeah, when I got them both in my hands, it was a difficult choice. The PLx is nice. Good 1X, vanishing bezel, good glass. The NF was impressive in its presentation. I mean, it feels sturdy enough to use as a weapon if need be. The glass was good, but the 1X left a good bit to be desired.
The PLx struck me as that scope you look through in the store and you're just immediately wowed by it. Still, I hate that dang reticle. Man, ya think they can throw another kitchen sink in there?
The Nightforce, on the other hand, is all about business. It will more than get the job done and the reticle is perfect. I'm talking about the FC-DMx. It's also more compact, which is what I was looking for, since it's going to be replacing an ACOG.
I chose the nightforce and after 2k rounds shooting out to 600 yards and doing close shooting drills, I don't regret my decision.
I tried the NX8 with Dmx reticle and didn't like looking through a straw. Sold it and kept the ATACR 1-8x which is much better.
The new FC-DMX reticle is what intrests me about the nx8. That with an offset dot has serious potential

The turrets are capped now too. The only issue really with the new NX8 is the fisheye at 1x. It's a great scope and does not deserver the hate.

I’ve already decided I want the PLXc. As I have 2 other PA optics and love them. I just don’t know which Reticle to get. Raptor yards or Griffin Mil.

I have that same NX8. Buy the PLX-C. The eyebox and uncapped turrets ruin it completely.

For the daylight scope footage, I used $10 gopro bike mount attached to the buffer tube (usually with the stock removed).
Why is nobody paying any attention to the March 1-10 “shorty” LPVO with its dual focal plane reticle?? It’s 17 Oz, sub 8.5”, has top tier Japanese glass, parallax adjustment, and the illuminated dot is on the 2nd focal plane, whereas the windage/elevation holds are on the 1st focal plane. Pure genius, imho…

Have you ever actually seen one irl, let alone looked through one? The eyebox and fishbowl are atrocious, and the parallax is adjustable only because if it was fixed, it would be unusable. The amount in focus at a given parallax setting is comically small. It's junk.

Is there a nx8 vs razor gen 2 e ?
I have some footage of the two from the same day, but I don't know how illustrative it is.
PLXc all day everyday. It is probably the best LPVO on the market or at least really, really high up there even when compared against higher priced scopes which is quite surprising. I don't own one but I got to shoot with it and its much better than the NX8 sadly. I think its actually better than the ATACR too btw, that scope is just way overbuilt but its actual optical functions are pretty meh. It does have an excellent reticle for distance shooting though. FOV on the ATACR is like worst in class I think.
The only optics that might beat out the PLXC are some of the really high end european scopes but even then idk.
Not sure if I’m the only one who noticed, but the NF was weighed with the scope mount whereas the PLxC wasn’t
I subtracted the mount in the calculation on the screen

I’m only two minutes in and I already feel the need to comment…you weighed the NX8 with a mount…the PLxC without.
You're not the first to notice, but it is all accounted for in the onscreen annotations. The number I give for the nx8 would be ridiculously low if it included the mount.

I mean just my personal opinion. If you're gonna use nods then u should be using a laser. If you want to use a scope, then get a dedicated NV scope or thermal. Trying to use red dots and lpvos with nods is a nightmare.
It gets better with practice, but like I said in the video, the nods demo is more to show the relative light transmission.
the PLxC only cost $900 with PA's premier saving program. Nobody can beat that price.

In the video you make a comment about liking MOA because you think in yards. Mils and MOA have nothing to do with yards or meters. They’re angular measurements that work equally well for meters or yards. For example if I have 77” drop at 600, my MOA scope needs to come up 12.3 and my MRAD scope goes up 3.6 mils. You could measure distance feet or miles the scope adjustments work no matter what.
Of course, you can make either work with enough math and/or practice, but moa is intuitive with yards. Also, the context was discussing a yards vs metric bdc reticle.
Feel like the Kahles k18i should be included in the discussion of high performing 1-8 lpvo's...
Would love to check out a Kahles, just never have.

The NX8 is IPX8 down to 100 feet. Pretty sure the PLxC is only IP67 down to 1 meter. Probably does not matter to most, but just bear in mind that one is “dive rated” so to speak, and the other is not. Also, the NX8 is available capped, and with a better (subjective) reticle. And idk about you, but it looked to me like the 1x on the NX8 was more of a true 1x and the 8x was more of a true 8x. Possible PA cheated a little to get those FOV numbers? Being the slightest bit under 1x will result in substantial gains in FOV, so I’m not saying that’s what they did, but it certainly would have worked. They’re both good scopes, but credit where credit’s due. Considering that the NX8 does not claim to be NV compatible, it performed pretty well, especially since on the other end of that illumination spectrum is a red dot bright setting. Bias confirmed; I’m a fanboy of my NX8 and haven’t tried the PLxC.
Again, credit where credit’s due, the PLxC is cheating physics to have that larger ocular lens and still be lighter than the NX8. Or… are they cheating durability in other places? Is their body tube as thick? (Visible doubt)
Great thoughts. I like my nx8 as well but I do wonder if the plxc fits the niche better.

The PLxC is, to my eyes, the closest truly 1x optic I've ever used. After setting the diopter I could get a flat, consistent image in as little as 2 and a half yards. Any other optic I've tried that with had fisheye and issues at varied distances, but the PLxC kept the image extremely flat throughout. The durability may be different, but as someone that has broken some high and low end scopes in the name of science, even the cheaper options are significantly more durable than most people are inclined to believe. The dive ratings are quite a bit different but I genuinely could not care less about that. The only real gripe I have with the PLxC is the lack of a truly daylight bright illumination. Here in the PNW it's rarely super sunny, so that's a concession I'm willing to live with. Overall, there's very few places where the NX8 is a better scope than the PLxC and I'd highly recommend you give it a try when you have an opportunity.
Over the years I've gone from Razor, to ATACR, to Kahles, to PA PLx, to Razor Gen 3, to NX8, to Swaro, to PLxC, and basically every other LPVO under the Sun and the Gen II-E Razor and PLxC are still kings of the pack in the SFP and FFP LPVO configurations respectively.
@@evey0259 Thank you for sharing your perspective. Being from Washington originally, I understand that “daylight visible” is good enough when it is overcast most of the year. But now that I live in Idaho, where the vast majority of the year is either very sunny or covered in snow, “daylight bright” is pretty much a necessity for a FFP LPVO. Still, I’ll have to get my hands on a PLxC and see how it compares. I know my NX8 seems to have a very genuine 1x to my eyes (admittedly there is some distortion around the edges) and it seemed to me in the video that the two scopes had slightly different magnification on 1x and 8x. But I haven’t owned as wide a variety of scopes as you have, so I will concede that my opinion is limited. That being said, diopter can have an effect on how true a 1x setting is, and how flat it is, and since diopter is set to the individual shooter, it is very possible for the 1x experience on a scope to be somewhat subjective. I know that sounds like fanboy cope, and maybe it is to some degree, but the reality is that we are comparing semi-high end scopes and none of them are bad options. We all want to get our money’s worth, and of the scopes you listed, I don’t think you’d fail to do so with any of them. In a perfect world, we’d have all of our options available at the local gun store, and could see for ourselves before buying. Anyway, I’m curious about the 1x on the PLxC now, so I’ll see if I can get my hands on one to compare it to my NX8 in person. Thanks!
