  • The ACSS® H.U.D. 4-14XFFP scope is a hybrid part battle/ precision optic in one. Designed to solve the problems faced engaging targets in windy conditions with limited exposure/opportunity of unknown ranges and while moving. Increasing your first hit ratio and improving your time on target. H.U.D. stands for heads up display. Years of research have come to this point creating the most advanced reticle in the world. Everything you see is designed out of necessity solving the problems on hand. Targets don’t always stay still. They are there one second gone the next. Wind comes and goes changing direction. Sometimes there is no time to do the math or look at a data book. ACSS ® H.U.D. deals with reality of fast on the fly shots to complete firing solutions. The 4-14XFFP is very fast at 4X and very accurate at 14X remaining true in all magnifications.

I purchased a Savage 10 .308 on Memorial weekend. The poor thing sits lonely and unused in its box, while I've been trying to figure out what optic to put on it. I have zero experience with distance shooting, and had no real comprehension when I bought the rifle how much I'd have to educate myself on rifle scopes. Anyhow, I went to your website on a totally different mission (looking at a red dot) and very happily stumbled on THIS little gem. Short story long, I think I have found my optic!! Have a bonus check coming next week, and then it's "Merry Christmas to me!". :)

...? I mean, the reticle is cool and all.
But, if this is the coolest thing you’ve ever seen and it’s all down hill for you now, that kinda sucks.

I love this reticle! Got it sighted in, confirmed the trajectory out to 250 yards, got everything entered into StrelokPro and used the reticle features to drop my 6x7 bull elk at 650 yards with a 6.5 Grendel rifle! One behind the shoulder, one through the neck, it’s pretty amazing!

stroudads nothing crazy. I have a quality lower and got a 20” 6.5 Grendel upper from Palmetto State Armory. I sighted it in and entered everything into the StrelokPro app (ballistics calculator, recommended by the folks at Primary arms.) I sighted in at 43 yards, the first cross over for a 268 yard zero (recommended through the app for maximum point blank range with a 4” radius margin up or down) then confirmed the trajectory at 100 and 250 yards. It was all on, so the StrelokPro app was able to tell me exactly how to aim / hold over at 650 yards, and it was dead on!
I was lucky to have a dead wind, but wind estimation with the 6.5 mm projectile isn’t bad, as it doesn’t drift much. The app can help with that too.

Dmitri - I went from Zeiss Conquest to Nikon Prostaff 5 to Vortex Viper PST to Falcon Menace until I saw your video. Needless to say I decided on the Primary Arms after the video since I am new to riflescopes. This reticle is not only authentic but very practical. I can't wait to throw some lead down range with confidence in my mark being true.

You know what I like about Primary Arms? Y'all actually take time out of your day to talk to your customers. By the way, I've ordered many things from your site and have not been disappointed yet. Just got this scope in today. My only gripe was my overnight shipping actually took two nights. But I'll live. The most important thing is that your customer service and the products y'all offer are friggin awesome. Thanks.

Video is very helpful. Thanks for making it. I do have one of these and really like it. Can't say I have enough rounds shot with it yet to be 100% sold on it, but I do like it so far and would totally recommend it. Definitely wouldn't call it a cheap scope, in referring to the quality. Maybe affordable would be a better word. My only complaint, and it's not a big complaint, is that at max magnification the eye relief is pretty unforgiving.

I have 2 of them the 4-14x44 I call it old faithful because I had to sell my first one. But when I picked up the second one it was even better. I believe it is better because the first one I owned was used. And it was one of the first to be released to the public. Not saying that it’s a bad thing at all whatsoever. I DID NOT WANT TO SELL IT however I needed money to fix my truck. At any rate as soon as I was able to replace it I did. It’s on my 20” AR and believe you me that rifle is surgical. With this scope and my rifle 300 yards is nothing not joking at all whatsoever. Well I decided to put together a AR10 in 308 and picked up the 3-18x50 ACSS. Same deal just as accurate just as easy to use. My next ACSS for my bolt will be the 4-16x50 ACSS I believe it will make a great combination. Especially with everything I have experienced with the other 3 I have owned and currently own. Seriously anybody who is considering getting something from primary arms. I don’t think your going to be disappointed they truly do make affordable QUALITY scopes in my opinion.

I've got a budget bolt action rifle in 270 with its factory stock scope. First things first, I want to see how well the rifle shoots. I've free floated the barrel. Heading to the range to try a few different brands and loads. Then replace that scope with an ACSS scope. Probably not this one. This model is going on a 308 I'm currently building. I am considering selling off my other, older optics and replacing them all with ACSS optics!

How do I use this with something other than the caliber and load it was calibrated for? And just from an intuitive aspect wouldn’t it make more sense if the longer distance vertical lines were toward the edge and the closer ones toward the center?
I couldn’t follow a lot of what you were saying because the cursor disappeared. Either off the edge of the screen or just blended in with the background. By the time I would find it you were on to the next point.
I understand the basic ACSS, but much beyond that I get lost. What if you are shooting heavier or lighter bullets than it was calibrated with? Doesn’t that skew all of the waypoints? If not why would it not work with every load in every caliber?
I hate to sound stupid here, maybe I am, but I am clearly missing something conceptual.
I will be setting up a rifle to hunt with in 280 Ackley Improved. It shoots a bit flatter than 308 or 30-06. For hunting I won’t need to range beyond 600 yds at the very most.
I have tried to watch all of your videos and the 36 inch high thing fits or fits close enough for reasonable ranging.
I realize I am not sticking to this particular video. I also realize the original ACSS was a combat sight. It makes sense just as it is for that purpose. Now, when we clutter it up with the mil or MOA in addition, it gets confusing.
I am thinking that ballistic coefficient really only matters a distances well beyond most hunting scenarios. Sure it is important for long distance target shooters and military snipers. But for the rest of us dumbasses that do most of our shooting inside of 250 yards we need something that is based of of known SIZE. The 3 inch clay pigeon is a great example. The bottle not so much. A 12 oz bottle, a 20 oz bottle, a one liter bottle? What size bottle. A foot square rectangle would work a 15 inch diameter circle would work. I can’t remember the old deal about height measurements based off the average size of a human head..,but what ever it is something similar could give us that reference to validate the other measurement.
The chevron is a stroke of genius. That works much better than anything that might subtend the target at distance, I would suggest either green or yellow instead of red. The eye picks it up easier. The donut and chevron should replace the red dot in every sight.
I noticed the 22 reticle is second focal plane...for consistency a FFP 22 scope would be helpful.
As to a desirable variable for hunters. A 2-10 or 12 power would be great. I can see no need for anything stronger. A 3 to 9 can work, but 2 power on the low end is ideal. A 1 to 8 power could work as well. But the objective lens needs to be bigger than 24mm. The bigger the better.
I am sure I am annoying folks, so I will stop. Just please give us something dead simple that is not limited to a single load. Thanks from the math challenged horde.

Would any part of the range estimating work if mounted on a .243 since calibrated for .308? Not as concerned with bullet drop. Sorry for the repeat question my other account was linked to an email that Ino longer could check on a regular basis for a reply.

Can you tell me the difference between the 4-14 SLx with this reticle and the 4-14 OPMOD (optics planet modification) that optics planet offers with the same reticle?

If I run a 6.8spc with 110gr loads, which reticle do you recommend? The 223 or 308?

How different are the 308 and 223? Accidentally bought the wrong one...

What I would prefer would be ranging an entire person's height much like the Russian PSO, yes I know it would be less accurate due to the various heights but instead of two torso ranging tools repeated on both sides I would just have one side for ranging torso and one for height, that way I can range height which I find easier and then confirm with any of the other ranging tools if I choose to. Other than that, amazing reticle.

It seems like this scope is mainly meant for shooting at 300+ yards since there are no windage or run/walk dots for 100/200.

I have this scope mounted on my Mossberg ATR 243 win & zeroed with Remington 243 PSP 100 grain at 100 yds. I also hand load this cartridge with Hornady VMax 87 grain BC=0.400 @ 3000fps average. What do I need to do to adjust the BDC for a specific bullet weight keeping the max bullet at 100 gr Sierra SBT BC= .406 @ 2800 fps average?

Is the reticle electronic or permanent? I have an astigmatism, and I can't use red dot scopes because they blur out and are not circles through my eyes.

You said the chevron tip is 100 yards but it looks like the chevron tip is supposed to be your 200 yard zero, and the inside top of the horseshoe is 100?

What is the height above bore that this is calibrated for? I'm looking to get a 308 and have put in all the calculations into Strelok+ and I can't find any round that matches. I've already bought the scope for my 30-06 and the BDC is accurate to 500 with the right zero. I was looking to trade it for a 308 but again, right now I cant find any round in 308 that matches up any better than my 30-06. I'm loving the scope though!!!

Strelok has the reticle and will show you the distances for the marks on the reticle.

Question/Concern: You mentioned that you used a chevron for better visibility of the target, but you only have the chevron on the section for the closest range targets where visibility would be best. Then all the others have obscuring lines and dots. Would it not be better to have chevrons in those areas too? At least have it on the vertical for the 300-1000yd markers and get rid of the obscuring lines there.

So he kind of addressed this. Use the bdc if you need quick rounds on target, but most long range shooters should have their distances memorized, so the exposed turrets allow you to dial for the range and take a well placed shot. You get tons of options with this system

what round is this reticle calibrated to?
I tried in JBM Ballistics using 175SMK at 2580fps and can't work it out
