Love the intro and the new site banner. I remember back in 1991 I paid an arm and a leg for an official CD copy of this album, and Vanity 6, it was a very exciting day receiving them at my door on CD. Truly hope we get all of these tracks at some point with Prince's vocals on it. Totally agree Apollonia did not need to have a perfect voice, Prince brought out her best, and as with any other artist he produced, found their strengths and sweet spots with laser precision. For me, A Million Miles, is my favorite, and quite possibly, the strongest track on the album. Great work you two, this review completely pulled me in and brought back some great and cherished memories.
Another great review. Liked the extra context with the opening track. In today's world, it definitely wouldn't have worked. It's interesting to consider what could have been if the other songs weren't taken off but I also kinda like the novelty of it in its current state. Even if I only really like 4-5 of the songs. Blue Limosuine is super catchy and Some Kind of Lover gives me major Pretenders vibes
I like every track on this album apart from 'Ooo She She Wa Wa.' And contrary to other opinions, I also like the sound of Apollonia's voice on the tracks she sings on. I'm looking forward to hearing unreleased Apollonia 6 tracks when the extended album is released next year. (My prediction.)
I got a vinyl copy a couple of years ago. Overall its a very weak and hastily cobbled together album. Its obvious Prince had very little interest in developing Apollonia and knew she had little talent or singing ability. The music is funky and Sex Shooter is alright, but the rest is forgettable. She (Apples) just does not have the appeal of Vanity and I think if Brenda and Susan did more lead vocals, it would have been better. It was the only Purple Rain related project that was a colossal flop reaching the lower parts of the chart and Sex Shooter tanking as a single. Sad as potentially this album could have been huge with the songs Manic Monday, Take me with u and 17 Days - but these were excised off, leaving filler for them to sing. Also by this stage Prince had lost interest in the Time and Apollonia 6 and was gearing up to make the Family project a goer (Most the album was recorded in late 1984).
I’m sure Prince was being deliberately controversial even though some of the lyrics are tacky😆😂😂 Prince initially intended Susan Moonsie to be the lead vocalist but she turned it down. Interestingly Susan’s attire is of a Lolita and she was Prince’s high school sweetheart.

Blue Limo for me sums up the entire album...Prince being His cheeky self always playing hard to get...'still waiting for that Blue Limousine'.😂❤

You actually used the word 'genuflect'. 😁 😁 I've never heard it in the wild. Now cleanse yourself in Lake Minnetonka!
😆 I'm diving in right now but it might take 2 cleansings to purify me !
