Before this song, Rick Dees claim to fame was as an Elvis impersonator. He also played in the 1987 film La Bamba as the DJ who first played Richie Valens music.
I forgot about this song. This took me right back to childhood. I was too young for the disco, but I sure remember it from the skating rink. What fun!!😅😊❤
haha so funny guys, I remember this well I was 12 and even us kids were laughing at this song at the time. There is a video and the guy is dancing around impersonating a duck, it's good for a laugh :)
This song went to number one for a while in 1976. It was played on the radio constantly. There is another hilarious song that unexpectedly became a huge hit called "Valley Girl" by Frank Zappa which was released in 1982. Would love to see you two react to it, I think you'll both fall off your chairs laughing out loud!
I have a very specific memory attached to this song. In November, 1976, me, my sister and a bunch of our friends headed to the local Pizza Hut after a high school football game. Our team had come from behind to win and we were feeling especially rowdy. When we got there, the place was packed, mostly with other people who had also come from the same football game. It took almost a half hour to get a table and get our order placed, but once we did, my twin sister (God rest her soul), put some money in the jukebox and chose a few songs, one of which was "Disco Duck". Now, this is a horrendous song, but people kept daring her to play it again, so she did. They would give her the money and then she would go select it again. After 17 times, the manager came out and unplugged the jukebox. True story. Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots had numerous novelty hits back in the 70's. But this one was the big one.
What I like about this is, anything goes on these channels and rightly so. I guess we all need a little laughter booster daily. Thanks guys posting it...
Whoa, memories. Believe it or not, this song got tons of AM radio play about same time *C.W. McCall - Convoy* song did. Before cell phones CB Radios (Citizens Band) truckers used were a big thing. *Lyrics - breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck, You gotta copy on me, Pig Pen, c'mon*
THIS song in 1976 was a jam that went to #1 riding the wave of the growing disco craze. It obviously was tongue-in-cheek though. I can recall it on the radio as a small kid and the family looking at each other and giggling
@@candilumpkin1196 🥰🤗 Hello Darlin 🌹 dancing is a celebration of life .. So dance when ever you can ☺️ and explore all music !! Because memories is all you take with you 🤔😉❤️❤️❤️❤️ Take Care and enjoy ✌️
We had this and Mr.Jaws which was kinda like a parody. It was about a reporter asking questions to the shark and the cast of the movie jaws, but instead of answering the questions, a bit of a snippet of a certain song would play instead very cool.
I have saved your reaction here to my playlist of ALL TIME favourite reaction videos. When I need a mood lift, I can easily replay this & others. Asia saying to BJ - don't come over to me flapping around on the dance floor & expecting me to dance with you (or something like that) SECONDS later - Asia & BJ BOTH flapping their arms around to the song. It was GREAT! - & I loved how this had you happy, loose & LAUGHING! Not a bad way to go on with your day - but BJ is one to be careful of (I bet you have your hands full with his character!) as he is "quite the talker" isn't he? - trying to convince you of things - rascally boy! 😄
I think this song was briefly in Saturday Night Fever (but it was not on the soundtrack). Hilarious, and a constant at our local skating rink. Next you must do Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting!
I couldnt believe this was a Number 1 hit song on the Billboard charts in 1976 🙄😆 Rick Dees would later be an actor who could be seen in movies like La Bamba and is currently a radio personality whose show is syndicated worldwide.
I wanna see BJ dressed like Donald or Daffy Duck “stepping up” to Asia in a club with this song playing… But I think Asia would then be screaming “OH HELL NO!!” & then running away while laughing her head off 🤣🤣🤣
While in high school our principle was angrily addressing the school over the PA system before first period about cars in the student parking area using the back street accessway to park in when Disco Duck started to play over him. From his office he was unaware of it.
Oh wow this one takes me back. My sisters and I would crack up to this. One of my sisters use to do the Donald Duck voice along with it making up her own words. As one could imagine what words were replaced. Lol Thanks for bringing this one back and to whomever recommended it. Cute and fun.
Love Rick Dees, he was the morning DJ here in Memphis on WHBQ 56 AM during the Disco years ( mid to late 70’s) before he moved his show to LA and became famous, he was known for his cast of characters that he would do himself during his show , and when he released Disco Duck we loved it because that was how funny his show was, I’m glad he moved to Hollywood and got some fame because he was funny and talented.
Before The Humpty Dance, there was the Disco Duck. Omigoodness, I love y'all for featuring this one! And yep, back in the day I had this on 45 vinyl. No shame. 😂
This was a preliminary dance to the Funky Chicken! 😂 Rick Dees spent some time as a DJ on the radio in Memphis before hitting it big in LA. He became very famous on the radio and with this song!
Disco duck. I remember when they used to place in the radio but when you ever saw it on the show there's actually a dance called the Disco duck . This is a really big song for the Disco area at the time it's the music that caught people
Now you need to listen to the Studio version of the funky chicken by Rufus Thomas. Then watch the live version of Breakdown and funky chicken live @Wattstax 1973
Wife here.., of coarse.., Loooved this song as a kid!!!.., So cool to see you two enjoying this song...The singer was Rick Dees..Dee's.., who was a top DJ for Billboard top 40 after Casey Kasem..!!..AWESOME REACTION U2!!!👍🌹🌹
Blast from the past."Disco Duck" became a nationwide hit in the United States by September 1976. On the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, it peaked at number one on October 16, 1976, for one week, held the number-two spot for the following four weeks and remained in the Top 10 for a total of 10 weeks. The single sold over 4 million copies and won a People's Choice Award. It ranked #97 out of the 100 most popular songs of the year according to Billboard magazine. A misconception about "Disco Duck" is that the voice of the duck was provided by Clarence Nash, the original voice of Donald Duck in many Walt Disney cartoons, but on several occasions the Disney Company maintained that Nash never contributed to the record. The voice of the duck was performed by Ken Pruitt, an acquaintance of Dees, as stated on the label of the RSO release.Written by Dees, "Disco Duck" was inspired by a 1960s novelty dance song called "The Duck", recorded by Jackie Lee (Earl Lee Nelson) in 1965. According to Dees, it took one day to write the song, but three months to convince anyone to perform it
I just want to say I wish to goodness I can sit next to y’all and watch a movie. I love how Hacia pulls the blanket up over her face and everything that shit is so funny and BJ hey you’re so cool I did you, bro I mean really for real much love
I haven't heard this since I was a kid. 😂😂 Thank you to John for request.. You made my day. ❤ At least he didn't request "The Rodeo Song" (if you know, you know). Too funny
