  • A lot has changed since I worked at Walt Disney World as a photopass photographer. Some for the better, and some for the worst. Here are 6 changes that have happened- 4 good and 4 not so good. A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

My daughter hated it when a guest would say “hey a camera!” She’d say no a person with a camera. Or the ones who shoved their magic bands in your face saying nothing.
The huge issue with the boxes is one less person to help and protect both characters and guests. Lack of training is huge and it shows

Hey George it’s Suzanne here. lol. Being a CM at the beginning of Photopass there have been a ton of improvements of course. Then when my daughter was there she witnessed the downfall. So it became so popular with guests that unlike me who had to beg people or use their cyber shots they handed me, now they are in long lines for pics. The boxes are horrible but we’ve seen Disney cut back guest service and even go against their long time keys. My daughter said that 2019 was one way then she went back in 2021 and all the training was dumped. They way they hired CP’s (college program). Was totally changed to no phone interview. Basically warm bodies, little training and if you were terrible at your job they wouldn’t let you go. I don’t think it will ever return to the way it was when we worked there sadly.

I'm really hoping those dang photo boxes never show up at Disneyland.

As is always happening these days, you are getting less for more or the same. I too would rather have a skilled HUMAN photography and not a machine.

Nice overview of how PhotoPass has changed... for the better and the worse! Thanks, Sir Willow. I was a Photopass Photographer starting in Summer 2005. I enjoyed watching this video and learning about the changes over the years, long after I left the department.

I really think I like magic shots more as an adult than I did as a kid😂 Also love the addition of the 360 shots! They’re fun to get right and also the blooper shots haha

You hit the Nail On the Head .. my camera can’t catch a little kids hug properly, especially little one runing fir that first hug or when a character goes down to the kids level for that magic shot it doesn’t exist anymore

There is a video that is circulating on X (Twitter) where a Disney worker ran over and interrupted a wedding proposal to get them off of where he was proposing. Why? Did you ever to do this? Might be worth a video. Maybe compile it with other such videos.

Happened in Paris a couple of years back. The couple crossed and were on the wrong side of safety barriers and on a stage without permission. I did actually comment on it in a video at the time. :-)

in 2003 and 1997 when we did our photos they told us we had to wait an hour to 2 hours. for the photos. with a card with a number on them. i couldn't get my 1997 photo cause we couldn't wait 2 hrs. for it. for ride photos right when you got off you would have to run and hurry to see your photo remember the number on your photo so you can go buy it right then and there. if you tried to use your own camera to get the photo they yell at you to stop doing it.
