In Germany, you would get a small monthly salary for this number of cans. Nobody here just throws them away. The deposit system works
We get money in the US for turning them in, but not much. I've heard the German bottle system is much like the Aldi cart system. It would be awesome to implement here but it would be a massive change. The US is 28 times larger than Germany. I will say in recent years, the recycle industry has gotten a lot more attention and many more Americans are working really hard to recycle and reuse.

@@PGTornado yes but I believe in Germany there is an extra cost that you get back when you turn in the bottles. Like a plastic fee. It does all equate out similarly in price though, you are right.
@@allergicTOsunhats Yes, of course. When you buy the drink, you pay the "Pfand" and get it back when you return it. But if you collect enough and return it to the shop, you can even pay for half of your purchase with the receipt ☺️
But even Pfand the young people still throw it away and the elder ones collect them afterwards.😊

Here In Finland we have recycling automats every grocery stores and you get 15cent every empty beverage can or lemonade bottle you put to that machine💰💰💰

You make it seem like its free money. At the store in finland there is essentially a fee or tax for the use of the bottles that you pay each time you go, you have the option to bring it back and get the tax or fee back. You make it seem like finland is so great😂

You'll never see this in America, we have bottle deposit. The states that don't still have recycle centers. The homeless fight over single cans here, they'd riot over the chance to make that much bank.
When i was a kid we would collect cans to make enough money to go to the public pool. I figured out that if i put about an inch of dirt in the cans before i crushed them it would get me there alot quicker!

bottle depots around me have to manually count crushed cans which take longer because the automatic counting machine can't read/won't accept crushed cans
Wow. Fortunately for us we have scales. I can't imagine counting them. My son usually has around 100kg!

In Japan, it is easier to recycle cans if they are not crushed in terms of the process of recycling them.
In my country you pay cash 15 cent on a can.
So if you bring it back to the store you have your 15 cent back.

In the U.S. we get paid by the pound not by the can. Thieves fill the cans with water and sand and other heavy materials to increase payout. Scrap yards require them to be crushed to help prevent this. No metal should be allowed to be thrown away! None! it is all recyclable. There is no excuse. We all should set up usage so we can more easily recover it. People are used to being wasteful. The only way to do this is to make it where it requires very little effort on the part of the lazy entitled consumer to recycle metals.

We collected cans back in the 80's and when we had at least 15 bags full we took them to the recycling center and got about maybe 80.00 or 90.00 or more depending how much it was per pound

Bus driver knew the assignment
If you charged a deposit on every can and got money back when you handed over the empty cans, no cans would be left on the street. We have a can deposit. When you return the empty cans and bottles, you get 25 cents back for each individual can.
In germany we pay 25 cent pfand for each ... that make me a little bit sad
