FANTASTIC! These key caps are phenomenal. We put our new ones on earlier and the touch and typing experience absolute TOPS! My own typing speed has increased significantly because my fingers can glide across the slick key tops and are able to move off the caps much faster than I was previously able to on ABS or PBT caps. These are smooth, glossy, and simply sublime!
I might be wrong but the ceramic glaze shouldn't fade because the glaze is basically the material itself, or the whole ceramic piece is colored basically. Alumina ceramic is super hard and basically only diamond can scratch it, so the shine and color should basically be forever. Otherwise i think the only downside should be that it is brittle and might crack with sudden impacts.
So IIRC they showed off how durable they are by dropping a few of them down some stairs. Seemed to hold up perfectly fine. The Spacebar however is heavier so that could possible get damaged.
Didn't have money for the whole set so just ordered the spacebar. The "thunk" it makes is very satisfying and feels very nice and cool on my thumb. I would get the whole set sometime in the future however, I really want the dents on the F and J since those are crucial for me to get back to home row when I inevitably lose it during long typing sessions.
Lovely video as always, Sang. Ceramic HHKB is definitely not something that I was expecting to hear today but it sounds quite interesting! Nice and deep thocks, but I'm not sure if I like it more than default / PBT HHKB?
Yeah, I agree actually! I think plastic has a softer sound, which matches the overall vibe of the HHKB better. I think these caps would be really great on a silenced board - I can't get past how good they feel to type on! Completely different feeling from plastic or aluminum caps.
Ugh, was really hoping you would show what they look like backlit. Every video I've seen has the blanks and I'm curious what the legends look like when the backlight is on.
Very excited. I have the Crazed set with legends as the legends on them looked really well done vs the other caps. Too bad they're also the ones taking the longest to get ready and shipped out but I have high hopes.
Hey, I think I have a tooth crown made of that stuff! They made it while I waited in the dentist chair, so I had to wait for it to be made and for it to cool down, which took an INSANELY long time for something the size of a tooth, like it took I wanna say an hour to cool down after it was made. Maybe they had to intentionally slow the cooling so it wouldn't break or something, I didn't think to ask. Anyway it looks exactly like a tooth, unlike my other crown. Hey, you should make a keyboard with teeth for keys!
Is it different to type on them - in terms of the weight difference? 🧐 The looks are amazing, I've had my eyes on the ceramic keycaps for a while - just waiting for them to be more commercially accessible. 😊
I don't notice much of a weight difference on the 1u keycaps when typing, but the stabilized keys definitely feel weighty. I think the spacebar feels nicer with an extra spring around the switch, but I don't think it's strictly necessary.
Hey Sagwa! I love this review it has just about everything I need in it. I was just wondering if you needed certain stabilizers for these heavy keycaps? I have the stabs that came with the Keychron V1 btw. If you can’t reply it’s alright, but it would really help me. Thanks!
Hello! Hope this isn’t to much trouble and I know the video is greatly outdated but if you wouldn’t mind telling me what mat you used for the heavy grail that would be great. (Also nice vid)
Hey there! What switches are you using? I just tried on my GMMK and didn't experience it. However, the spacebar is a lot heavier than a plastic keycap, so off the top of my head it could be a few things: 1/ Make sure that the spacebar is installed straight and level on the stabilizers (firmly push both ends of the spacebar until it "clicks" into place) 2/ If your switches are fairly light, you may just need a heavier switch on your spacebar.
@@sagwatypes Thanks for the response! I'm using Kailh speed copper which actuate with little force, so I think you might be right that I need a heavier switch. I'm going to do some tests.
@@sagwatypes I replaced it with a Kailh pro heavy plum and that mostly fixed the sticking. It still gets stuck when I press on the left end though (not the right or middle). No idea how to fix that. Also there is a slight glassy sound on the downpress impact and a scratchy sound when it travels up. Any tips to suppress those noises? (sorry if this is simple stuff, I'm a noob!)
They are interesting and kinda of have a retro vibe about them or like a soap dish. It's just another material that they can sell to us which we don't even need, or do we? Ya, we probably do need that heheh
Yeah, really wish they had more kitting. That said, they should be coming out with more moulds this year so hopefully the next round has better layout support!
Gald you enjoyed our caps and thanks for the great review!
also we are working on a new revised stem mold and more layout support moving forward in 2023
This is fantastic news! Very much looking forward to more layout options 🙇♂️

Just came across your channel, beautiful narration, well shot and good colour grade, you just earned a subscriber my guy, keep creating!
+1

I got mine and put them on my Q3. I absolutely love it!
if you ask them to ship keycaps unglazed they're also a very different feel, matte, bit more grip and muted without the glaze's glassier sound.

Damn bru the ceramic vs plastic sound test, the cerami keycaps are sooo fricking crunchy. not even thocky, but crunchy
I can officially say that ceramic topre is unmatched after watching this video.

so what's the spacebar you're using?

Hello! They should work with the standard stabs - no need for special stabs or extra springs: ruclips.net/video/T8n3SO7AY-k/видео.html
Nice vid

It kinda sounds like me munching on cereals 😂
I have a set of these and I like them overall, but the spacebar gets stuck on my GMMK so I had to switch it out. Did you experience this?

would these be too heavy for Lekker switches? I got a new wooting 60he and I was wondering if the weight would impact the analog of the switches
cerakey need to do these in ISO because i think only ANSI is available
it sounds like a membrane keyboard
Honestly, yeah, I am not sure what the hype is all about. To me it sounds like a generic membrane keyboard.
@@TheHuntersRealm Because it is a hybrid keyboard, I think. The key caps are excellent at others Mechanical Keyboards.
Bro its a topre, a rubber dome it sounds like a membrane even with normal keycaps
Bros commented without any research
Bros do be broin
3:23 I just pissed myself
okay but what set are the lowercase plastic keycaps you have?
The set is called "epbt less but better". They're available in North America here: kono.store/products/epbt-less-but-better
Always bet on BLANK KEYS
the visual look is just amazing but idk, is it just me or the sound feels kinda dull?
Topre is pretty muted.
Had me till that spacebar in the end 😅
Yeah, I need to re-grease the wires and add some noico in the gaps to make it weighty again!
Ahhhh it's honestly a dealbreaker on the 6.25u spacebar for me. :(
Yeah, really wish they had more kitting. That said, they should be coming out with more moulds this year so hopefully the next round has better layout support!
Ugh, I think all thonk and no clack sounds like crap.
I’ll be honest - the caps look great, but sound awful…
it usually sounds amazing but on this keyboard it sounds terrible
