parallel portal | o-ring board with roller switches, ceramic keycaps
i got my parallel portal few years ago and it's still part of my regular rotation. I don't think it's made anymore, but the sequence is basically the same, if you can find one.
previously, I had NK silks and ceramic caps on this board, but the silks had a bit too much stem wobble when used with ceramic keycaps. I swapped to roller switches to mitigate the stem deflection, but to be honest the silks had a much nicer sound profile. i hope that more types of roller switches are released soon, so we can enjoy the super solid feel without compromising on sound.
I'm using tactile switches (boba u4t's) on the enter and spacebar because I like having tactile feedback on those keys, and am using pol...

    • @sagwatypes

      The cutout is actually unmodded, it's jus a breakaway magnetic usb-c adapter (like this one a.co/d/hQyQErB) that I leave plugged in. The bluetooth controller comes with an optional usb-c port, and can be flashed for VIA compat (instructions here: ydkb.io/help/?hhkb=#/en/other-firmware/vial?id=necessary-instructions).

    • @sagwatypes
      @sagwatypes 7 месяцев назад

      The 1mm plate gasket is available on Sho's Taobao store: item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=761299340317. It's a poron sheet that fits under the keycaps and above the plate to dampen keypresses. There's a 0.5mm variant as well. Having tried both, I think BDZ and 206g2 both perform pretty well. However, it's way easier to lube the wires using a syringe, compared to a brush, so that ease of use is the biggest difference (I have 206g2 in a syringe, but I only have bdz in a jar, and it's so thick that I don't even want to think about stuffing it in a syringe lol).
