    Episode 65
Shadowgate is one of the most impressive point and click adventure games for the NES, and it's also one of the earliest! Originally designed for Macintosh computers by a small American company called ICOM Simulations, Shadowgate is part of a series of games known as the Macventures.
There were four Macventure games, but when Kemco decided to port one of them to the NES, the actually decided to covert the third game in the series, Shadowgate, first. It may just be that it was one of the more interesting of the adventures and included a lot of animations that the others lacked.
The interface had to be redesigned so that it could be used with a controller instead of the mouse and keyboard that the Macintosh was created for. This control scheme may not be as intuitive on the NES, but it makes up for it with beautiful color graphics and a haunting soundtrack. They even left in the descriptions of grisly deaths from the original, some of which may have slipped by Nintendo's censors...
So how did this game get to our Nintendos? In this episode we'll find out, then we'll dive deep into the gameplay where we'll learn:
    * How to access EVERY Room!
    * Where to find EVERY Item!
    * A SECRET TRICK that will allow you to skip picking up a key item!
    * How to assemble the STAFF OF AGES!
    * TONS of grisly deaths - see what NOT to do!
    * How to pass the SPHINX without answering his riddle!
    * A GLITCH that will allow you to beat the game in fewer than 10 minutes... AND MORE!
CORRECTION: It turns out that the NES version IS available on Steam, and on other platforms as well! store.steampow...
