Episode 78
After DuckTales became Capcom's best selling NES game EVER, they knew that more Disney games were a good idea, so they looked to the second show made for the Disney Afternoon cartoon block - Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers!
Rescue Rangers once again proved that Capcom knew how to take a licensed property, and turn it into a high quality game. Chip and Dale work as a team in the show, and in the game you can play cooperatively with a second player! Sometimes it's chaotic, but that's just part of the fun.
So how did this game get made? In this video we'll find out and then we'll dive deep into the game play where we'll learn:
How to beat EVERY Zone, even the optional ones!
Where to find EVERY hidden item!
The best techniques for battling EVERY enemy!
What the mysterious P BOTTLE does!
How to get tons of EXTRA LIVES!
The best way to beat EVERY BOSS... even FAT CAT himself, AND MORE!
Thanks for watching!

Mandy is indeed a human. The developers used the basic plot of season 1 episode 2 (Catteries Not Included), added some extensive artistic license and created this game. Also, the boss of stage 0 is the static electricity machine invented by Professor Nimnul in that episode.
12:29
In the third episode, DTZ is an alien who transforms into Dale so he can vacation on earth. He's known as "the new and improved Dale" in the show 🤣
Yep. He was planning to zap the entire city with it and very nearly did!
@@SamtheBravesFan Which raises the question.....Why not just hold the city for ransom with that small army of robot dogs?
@@oneangrygeek4575 Not cartoony enough. Also Professor Nimmul is a bit of a nutjob.
@@daviddrake5991Yeah, screw him.
The Capcom -Disney Afternoon Series were true gems of their time, They inspired so many platform games; past, current and future. (So many of the games we developed took heavily from the mechanics we learned from playing and studying them.)
Åååååååååå
Kinda backwards alas those games were the only platformers you ever played. Dark Wing Duck is simply a Disney Take on Mega Man. Capcom even used one of their Mega Man builds for it. Throwing crates in Chip'N Dale wasn't new either. Many games did that way before that was released. And I might have to google it but even ther Pogo Attack in Duck Tales games wasn't new at that time.
I remember, as a kid, I prized this game for its moderate difficulty level. Breezing through it with a buddy, in two-player mode, was such a chill time!
Probably the opposite of playing 2-player _Toejam & Earl._
@@edwardgaines6561 the sequel "panic on funkatron" was much more accessible and holds a place in my heart due to the many hours playing with my friends in grade school. the first tjae was way too hard and cryptic to enjoy with a friend.
@@juanstarnotip8122 Agreed! I could never get my friend to finish all 25 levels with me, back in middle school. That game could've used a password option!
Man, three hearts the entire time is brutal. At least there isn't an upper cap on how many lives you can have. Well done
This games music and graphics was iconic at the time. I have this game on my NES emulator on my laptop still playing it over 30 years later.
Good upload.
One of my favorite NES games growing up…stoked for this one!
Today I finally learned what the “P” powerup did in one of my favorite games as a kid. Thanks!
I just love that this video required you to warn me of ninja squirrels in the sewers. Thanks for another great video.
Oh thank God it's Saturday. Long week but Bob Ross of gaming to the rescue. Thank you good sir!!!!!
Had to borrow this game from a friend as a kid; only Disney NES games I owned were Mickey Mousecapades, Ducktales, and Talespin.
Uncle, Uncle, Uncle!! I've watched the majority of the UCBVG series, but now its getting real!! I lost count on how many times I begged my mom to rent this game growing up. This was my favorite cartoon show!! My first kid crush was Gadget Hackwrench and I was more of a Dale/Montery Jack kind of character. I watched every episode in the afternoon as a kid and drove my mom absolutely crazy!! This was how I learned how to use a VCR and record episodes when I wasn't home ya know, DVR? Good $h!t!!
Gadget was hot!
I remember when this game came out, the cartridge was so hard to get a hold of at video rentals. Finally got one, and my brother and I played the snot out of it. The co-op was rare amazing for the time.
Hopefully you cleaned up after yourselves when you were done.
Disney: Mandy lost her kitten!
UCBVG: Cat trafficking out of SVU.
And here I thought Gay Purr-ee was the only cartoon to touch that.
Hey My Friend! What if I told, you're a blessing to many a people!!!!!!
Thank you for that.....
Please continue your pursuit, you're helping people!!!!!!!!!!!
This game (and its sequel) needs a Remake... like the one they gave Duck Tales a couple of years ago.
I owned this game as a kid! It has an excellent soundtrack.
I remember renting this game on my way home from school one Friday so a friends and I could play it. He died within the first 5 minutes and tells me to keep going until I die. Like 45 minutes later I had the game beat. Was the first time I had beaten a game in one sitting, one play, first time playing.
My two favorites out of the Disney series Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2
I just bought one of the shirts off your web site. I always look forward to a new episode every Saturday. I hope you get 100k subscribers soon, you deserve it!
Oh snap I didnt realize you could buy merch from him..I'm gonna look now!
@@damondelgado4603 He talks about the web site at the beginning of every video, specifically just before it shows him putting the game into the system. Yeah, he deserves the support for all the hard work he puts into every video. Also, if you buy something, it gives you the option to give an extra donation to him if you want. I added a donation to my shirt order.
I’m hoping for kids sizes, my son loves the content and is obsessed with the dog.
@@PabstOban Yeah, it's Kylo who actually plays the games. His master just puts the game on and narrates for him. 😄 Kylo is such a good boy!
What if I told you I just watched the movie last night and I have to say it was great it was like being 13 years old again and all the little Easter eggs were outstanding thanks for another great video
Ah man, Chip and Dale was one of the best Nes games I've ever played! Thank you You Can Beat Video Games for this upload
One of many NES games i use to beat before i went to school, so many awesome memories of Chip and Dale, can't wait to check out the movie one day.
This was absolutely my childhood. Get home from kindergarten, pop this in, and get as far as I could. Beat it one time and was so disappointed there weren't more levels.
I honestly like the first one more than its sequel. I wish this was on the Switch like it is on the Playstation and Xbox platforms, but I bust it out on my NES whenever I get that urge to play as Dale.
This game holds a special place in my heart. It was my introduction to the NES! My earliest memories is watching my older brother and his buddy play this game together, and I couldn't have been any older than 4 during that time. As my brother and I got older, he got less into gaming and more into tinkering with electronics and vehicles, I kept the NES and all the games he played. And this is one of them, this game was also the first NES game I was able to beat.
I watched the new Rescue Rangers movie last night and it was absolutely amazing!! Lol
LOL same!
I thought it started a little weird, but it got really good by the end, I didn't think they were ever gonna show gadget.
Oh man I remember renting this game and playing with my brother all weekend.
The red bouncy ball used during boss fights can be caught by holding the throw button. This can be used to tear most bosses apart but especially the ones where the player can score multiple its with one throw. A star was also missed that the player gets by brushing up against one of the axes in the early part of the second half of the last stage. This game has an absurd number of hidden collectibles.
It certainly does, and I believe there's a whopping total of 38 hidden stars located throughout the game (and a few flowers too, but only in Zone A).
I remember finally beating Zone G as a kid and being crushed that there were three more zones to beat 🤣I never did beat Fat Cat, but I've been told that I can beat video games so maybe it should dust off that cartridge and give it another go.
I never knew you could hide inside of the Crates to KILL enemies! I beat this game way back when I was Five years old in 1990, but that's something that never occurred to me to even attempt. Thanks Kylo, Good dog!!
Oh my word, now this brings back some memories. Big Time. My next door neighbour used to own it but never got into it much, so I used to have to talk him into playing it with me cos he would NEVER lend his games out to anyone, even tho I lived right next door. And I wouldda done a trade for the time too. Not like I wouldn't giv eit back. *sigh* Ah well, now I can get a full look at everything this had to offer! YAY! Thanks for bring back more awesome memories mate.
Also I hope you don't mind, but I've given you a few shoutouts on my Twitch streams recently when we've been discussing older games. I may not have a big audiance but I hope the few it does reach helps you grow some more. I'm financialy strapped AF for now, so this was the best way I thought I could help out outside of just giving you a view and a like. You deserve it mate.
Played this with Grandma co-op; she said do not pick up and throw a lady like that
😂😂😂
Lol she is awesome and also very wise:)
BUT, what if I told you..?
Told us what. I don't get it
@@charlespatterson sorry, posted in the wrong place..👍
Your NES vids are my favorite episodes by far.
As I kid...I was very confused about the Chippendales thing 🤣🤣
I loved the Disney Afternoon lineup and was recently able to get the Disney Afternoon lineup games for Xbox One.
Thanks for sharing this as I will give this a go.
I love this channel. Every game is filled with the information a player needs while still being fun and engaging. A difficult thing to do. Never played this game myself but I am glad it was chosen. I like seeing different games I've played as well as old favorites
What an absolute gem of a pick. Hardcore memberberries
Oh my god I rented this game so much! I love it and I've never forgotten about it! Mad props UCBVG!!⚡😍✊✊
Let's. Go.
edit: sounds like you got a new mic. Love the video... highlight of my week when I see your notifications
I remember this game so vividly. It was the one game as a kid that I could beat every time in a single sitting.
My uncle works for Nintendo and he told me..... Great video as always one of the true greats! Re-upload this and add Ugly Sonic haha
What a classic. I wish I had your guide back when I first played this, because I could never get past the caterpillar.
You do realize that it's illegal to talk about Rescue Rangers without singing the theme song, right? I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call Darkwing Duck on you.
😄😄
One of my best memories was biking to the video game store and renting this on a Saturday morning.
Me and my young son love these two games.
I loved this game as a kid. I was able to beat it without much trouble, but I will absolutely watch this for the nostalgia
Ohhh Yesss! Another great video of one of my faves on the NES back in those days!
Your channel simply is the best nowadays for me. Congrats for your work. Cheers for the doggo!
My brother and I rented this one weekend and beat it back in the day. It's one of those cartoons that I still love even now. Heck, I remember when Disney Channel had reruns in the 1990s and 2000s when I was in high school and I still watched it then. The voice work was phenomenal and the world they crafted where there was a "little" society that co-existed with the "big" society does work well. Rescuers certainly showed that and Rescue Rangers continues it. I mean, where else would you have a working flying machine with a hub made out of an empty bleach bottle? ;)
The game isn't half-bad either! I played it again on the Disney Afternoon Collection on PS4 and revisited it the past couple of days. I'm better at the boss rush on Tale Spin, but it is crazy how fast people have optimized the Rescue Rangers boss rush.
I don't know how you manage to push out so many videos of this quality this frequently. I hope your channel continues to grow and grow because I really enjoy what you're doing here. Stumbled across your channel as a frustrated person looking to finally beat TMNT on the NES and have been enjoying every video since. Cheers!
the problem with growing is that he'll have less time and subsequently outsource the work, causing the overall quality to suffer. it's best for all that the channel remain like this, a hidden gem
This one is a piece of cake. You must be taking a break after beating all the other impossible games.
A well deserved break I might add.
Good video as usual man.
What fond memories this video has brought back ! Thank you. Also, I surely can't be the only one who took advantage of the invincibility frames you get, when you use the giant ball to knock yourself out, during boss fights, can I ? If you have trouble evading an attack, just throw the ball at the boss and be sure to get in the way, as it comes back at you : it'll knock you out and you'll be invincible for a few seconds - thus avoiding damage when the boss attacks you.
I remember watchin the cartoon and playing the game as a kid back then
I always liked this game. Very straightforward. Although I like ducktales more.
You can actually scroll back to the left on the top of the vertical part in the first part of Zone C and those 3 flowers will respawn endlessly, along with the Racquet Roo. You can do the same in Zone D.
Yesss TY so much man ! I just started playing this again recently !
Love your videos, my favorite parts are the intro where you give a brief history of the game you're playing through!
I actually hurriedly beat Super Metroid this week because you did Metroid 2 last weekend and I wanted to avoid spoilers in case you did it this week!
Loved this game growing up. Great co-op. perfect weekend rental.
The amount of research you put in every game is frightening.
You are the best bro. Love your video. My brother and I would always play that game when we were young. So nostalgic!
Nice timing with the release of the Disney Plus movie. I’d rather watch this than that thing.
loved this game as a kid, I always went through every level when I played it. Never thought about using the boxs as a shield though
Yeah me too. Especially once I learned how to play. Became a habit just to beat all the stages
Another great video, thanks UCBVG!!! I never knew what the "P" bottle did, so thank you for that info! By the way, it actually takes 20 stars to earn a 1-up (not 10 like the manual states).
Also, I believe there are a total of 38 hidden stars located throughout the game, so there were a few of them that you missed. One is located in Zone C (on the top shelf just past the 4th Raquet Roo), and another is in the blue room in Zone G (to the left of the second Rhino Runner).
I also learned that if you press A+B while on the status screen, it will give you the option of "giving up" and sacrificing one of your lives. Might not be the most useful trick, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
Finally, to collect the 3 flowers on the top ledge near the end of Zone E, the only other way I've found to reach them is to stand on the box to the right of the 1-up treasure box (facing left) and then jump and get hit by a Buzzbomber to get damage boosted up to that ledge. It's really hard to time it, and definitely not worth the effort. And there's also a hidden star located up and to the right of the boss room door too.
One of my favorite NES games. Crushes Chip and Dale 2
Perfect timing since the movie came out yesterday on Disney Plus!!
I hope you cover the sequel game to this too! Love your channel!!!
Your strategies are the best on RUclips. Thanks to you I've beaten some of my favorite games. Now I can finally add rescue rangers to that list! looking forward to rescue rangers 2!
The toy store stage theme is so whimsical. I love it.
One of my first NES games.
Omgoodness. The flash back of childhood ptsd playing this game. Lol. But now when u play it u can beat in less than 1 hr WTH lol. Lmao. Great vid bro 👌 👍 👏 🙌
Keep up the good work bud, this isn’t my favorite channel, but so can always count on it to relive my youth…. And the stupid hard games that stumped me finally get passed.
Contra was my very 1st video game ever played on a console when I was 6 years old. An my favorite episode!
Wish you the best an a RUclips plaque asap!!!!
this was the first game i ever beat as a kid. it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I feel like enamel pins of our game playing pup would be awesome. Great video as always. I really enjoyed this one in the Disney collection. Duck Tales was my favorite but this game was probably the most fun as an adult.
Man this game's music is good.
Always love a Chris Farley reference
The Capcom disney games are the best , "chip n dale rescue rangers" , tailspin , ducktales one and two and, dark wing duck just to name a few.
New chip and dale rescue rangers movie just released by Disney too! Got it for the kids, watching it on the weekend.
Well, I learned something today. I've beaten this game multiple times, and I never knew what that P powerup did either. I also thought it was a bottle of pepper as a kid. Honestly, kind of made sense given that the first place you saw it was in a kitchen level, and the manual doesn't even mention it exists...
I learned something new, too. Without this video, I'm not sure I would have ever known that Chippendales formed in 1979. 😆
Great cartoon and great game. Such nostalgia of times gone by.
You are my favorite channel
Loved this game so much as a kid.
The thing you said about fan fiction Fantasies with Gadget and the Chipmunks was freaking gold brother. I remember going to the Nintendo World Championships in Hartford Connecticut. And this game was something you could play. It was just so fun. But yeah probably showing my age now LOL appreciate it you can beat. Lastly this game and DuckTales was my favorite Disney games ever on the nes.
Great game one of the first capcom games I beat as a kid
Don't get me wrong, the video DOES help defeat Fat Cat and shut down his catnapping operation, but there's one thing that puzzled me... WE NEVER FOUND MANDY'S KITTEN!
Wait. I'm beginning to think that kitten wasn't actually kidnapped...
...nah, we're just bad at our Rescue Ranger jobs.
After Ducktales, i also played this one. Both really fun games. Thanks for the Nostalgia Shot. 🌰🎮😊❤️🇵🇭
Quality game. One of my earliest memories and always came back to this one. Never played the Ducktales one though.
Fat Cat is forreal dropping ashes on my boy!!! Lmao
I loved playing this one as a lil kid with my big brother 😁
I laughed so much when we hit each other with those crates!
This was one of the few games my little sister and I would play together growing up, she wasn't really interested in video games but this one was from a cartoon she knew and fairly easy controls plus you could be silly and pick each other up to throw at enemies or stun each other by throwing boxes at them. The only other games we played together was another NES game called Kung Fu Heroes(Which I would love to see on the channel one day as it had tons of secrets aaand I never did beat it...) and a PSOne game that for the life of me I can't remember the name of. It was a fighting game but not like SF or MK but you would fight in this big open map that you looked downish at from an angle, the characters were monsters, mutants, aliens, beasts or something and it had the cool but frustrating mechanic that some characters could fly making almost impossible to kill them unless you could too or had ranged attacks.
Chip and dale was the first game I completed completely:) those were the days . One you have played it a million times you know where every object is lol
I watch every video you make but I would like to see more challenging games on here
Great NES game. Used to play a lot as a kid (and nowdays). Great videos. Just arrived on you channel and I'm yet a fan.
I just finished this game about a week ago for the first time. I had the cartridge back in late 90s and never got past the third stage.
"All of the challenges the NES is notorious for" I love that line.
I love games you can play with 2 players at the same time.
Another wonderful episode! I think I've watched them all at this point and look forward to new releases every week. One thing I have noticed that would be an improvement is the audio. It's great except that it is low. I really have to turn up the volume. Not a problem until the ads show up. I love the content and plan to keep watching, but most content providers like feedback.
Thanks for the video
And now I FINALLY know what the P Bottles do. It was frustratingly unclear when I was a child. To my knowledge it was for aesthetics.
This was the only NES game I could beat with ease as a young kid. Still watched the whole video!
The most valuable tip was with the plunger guy at the very end, I would still have trouble with him to this day.
Great choice!!! One of my fav!!
Am I the only one reading Fat Cat's lines in his voice?? 🤣
Now my weekend can begin!
One of the few games I could get my family to play... Pretty fun still to this day
I loved this game as a kid, it was one that didn't seem artificially difficult so you couldn't beat it during the rental period. It might be part of the reason that later games (looking at you, Lion King) started doing that :)
