She was born to sing.
"There are two kinds of people, those who have a crush on Linda, and those who've never met her." Willie Nelson
I never met her and I've had a crush since I was 17, 1972
I’ve Never Known Linda but I’ve had a crush on her since she first came out
I’m 1967 when I was 12 years old
He actually said that about Emmylou Harris
I've always had a crush on Linda since I was in high school
I've had a crush on Linda since I was in
Prettiest lady the lord ever put together. I saw her in Tampa. About 5 feet from her. You couldn’t quit looking at how perfect she was
😂😂
Brilliant! There's a reason why Ronstadt was the biggest-selling artist of the 1970s. Just listen. Brilliant!
Did back stage security for her on a couple of shows, she was gracious, kind, beautiful and everything you'd hope for. Lovely human being.
My heart throb as a teen
Still got a crush on her! (at 58!)
It's so nice to hear that. She seems humble in interviews.
still is I imagine. I saw her on a talk show when she was very young. She walked on barefoot and not wearing a bra which was obvious. The woman host was flabbergasted and rude. Wish that video is still around but I cannot find it. Can anyone help?
@@albernal6653 Wow! I wonder what show it was. Was it an American talk show? Was it a daytime talk show, and about what year was it?
Linda Ronstadt was SO underrated. She has one of the most unique, heart tugging voices of her era.
Underrated? Linda was never underrated. She was a superstar. You must be young.
She could sing anything and that voice ,well just listen! one of my favourites , Goodbye My Friend I defy anyone to watch the episode of The Wonder Years where Kevins teacher dies and not end up sobbing.❤
Never... always a bright ⭐
Underrated?? by who?
Not under rated at all!!!
She can go from such a light singing to a roar, on pitch and emphasizing every single syllable like a master. And is she cute.
The first and in my humble opinion the best female vocalist who could fill stadiums. She is my all time favorite and yes I fell in love on first site and sound.
Don't be humble about it man! She was the Greatest Of All Time. The best genuine mezzo-soprano ever to lend her voice to popular music. And I mean like, she was a genuine operatic mezzo-soprano.
In history there's been a lot of great singers she's one of those but not the very best ever! I don't think anyone one person is the best ever. @@GaryNoone-jz3mq
She’s gorgeous in every way imaginable. 50yrs later and that teenage crush is still alive. Wow!
Her voice is magic.
Yeah I can’t stop ✋ listening to her songs till date.
Linda Ronstadt is one of the greatest female singers of all time!!
Nope not ONE of the greatest THE GREATEST
One of the greatest all round female singers but Cher, Amy Winehouse, Tina Turner, Joan Jett, Big Mama Cass, Karen Carpenter, Diana Ross, Dusty Springfield, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Janis Joplin, Chrissie Hynde prolly had the edge in a lotta songs of theirs … girl groups like The Ronettes , The Marvelettes , Shakespeares Sister etc etc etc
Amen
@@paulbroatch6419 Dusty and Amy were in her league, but not as good
Totally agree! The best there’s ever been😍
Nobody ever sang like her before or since. Just an extraordinary voice.
Listen to a live version of "The Carpenters" performing, "Rainy Days and Mondays." (on You Tube). Tell me what you think of Karen Carpenter's voice (?)
I agree. She was special. And few voices today can honor her. Kelly Clarkson is one. Gabriel Henrique of Brazil, is another. Honestly, he can do justice to her. He does not yet speak English but listen to him sing "Fire to the rain". I would love that voice to sing "The moon is a harsh mistress" by Linda.
Gabriel was invited to audition for AGT. He will shine on stage June 1. I keep dropping hints for him to cover Linda's exceptional voice. Hope you listen.✌️💖🌹
@@johngould-cd1oj I agree with both of you each were great singers.
@@johngould-cd1ojCarpenter was a grotesque sour note cornball. She literally couldn't carry Ronstadt's toothbrush.
@@johngould-cd1ojCarpenter was a grotesque sour note square. Couldn't sing live. Dreadful material and she sang saccharine love songs with her creepy brother. Ronstadt was one of the greatest vocalists in the studio or live.
Why is every Linda Ronstadt video a live version? Because she's that good.
Because live is where the crowd and the artist work together and create magic!
You nailed it Richard! Saw her live a few times, and she could easily throw that beautiful voice to the back of the crowd along with every instrument on stage. She was brilliant.
Pure angelic voice, 'don't need no stinkin autotune'.
From what I have seen, she is that rare singer that I believe sounded better live than recorded, whether that makes sense or not.
She may be the most complete singer who ever lived. She literally sang everything.
She awesome, but for me that award would go to Ella Fitzgerald .
Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland... Linda..no way. ..
Bilbo..spot on...rock,blues,country,classics….she did it all
Bilbo Baggins ... Angel on Earth
@@keepsmilin5766 dont forget opera and mariachi. Literally sang it all.
My God,have you ever heard anything more beautiful than this??? Linda was one of the GREAT singers ever!!
Right on brother!
Thinking...will get back to you!
Yeah Jessica Mauboys version
@@waiskuxx hmm never heard of that person
Its fabulous bud 👍
She's one of those rare singers who balances flawless technique with great soulfulness. Her voice is powerful yet beautifully vulnerable.
She worked in so many "genres," as well. She even released some albums in Spanish language. It really is amazing how versatile her talent is.
Well put.
@@larrybarrjr.6720 She has Parkinson's now and can't sing anymore.
@@grantsmythe8625 I know, it's unfortunate that she retired because she couldn't live up to her standards of performance.
@@larrybarrjr.6720 When you're young, you can really do it. Then you get in your mid 30s and on into your 40s and you can still do it and then suddenly you look up and it has slipped away.
I was a guitar player and then got old with arthritis and poor! It was gone. Life is hard, but I think it's supposed to be, strangely enough. Peace friend.
To the fans of LINDA RONSTADT, have a good weekend!
You too!
My hubby is gone now....but he had a major crush on this lady! I did too! She was a musical angel 😇 ❤️
If people knew anything about the LA music scene in the early 70's they'd realize that this is NOT a 'country version' - its foremost and only a LINDA version.
You’re right, she could sing anything flawlessly and I mean anything
Nobody writes ‘em like Smokey, and nobody sings ‘em like Linda.
Amen
Hello😊
You got it
No one cried into a microphone like RONSTADT.
Love this beautiful lady. Growing up in the 70's, I still play Linda's music nearly every day. She is an amazing talent that will transcend well into the future. Cheers Linda! Thank you.
Yeah I can’t stop ✋ listening to her songs till date.
If there is a heaven, the angels sing and look like Linda Ronstadt.

Zero auto-tune, live in the studio with the actual musicians, one take. We used to call that TALENT.
Well Put ! Talent
A rare commodity these days, don't throw away your platters and turntable!
So you think talent is no longer being handed out by the creator, do ya? Not likely.
@@danc3693 it exists but it isn't being used!

I love the days when talent didn't need to show itself off.. just accomplished musicians doing songs...
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you.. I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person 😍
@@lindaronstadt3938 How funny if it was really Linda writing me. lol. Big fan going all the way back to seeing Linda play live with the Beach Boys in the 70's. Good stuff !!
Her , voice , heavenly 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🥰
Too true. Linda just loved the song. That was true from the word go. Whatever it was: folk, country, rock, Tamla Motown, ballads, opera, she sang it and she sang it superbly and she always gave it its due. I just loved her as a singer of anything. Now, singers are forced to be song-writers and they are so not and the result is, mostly, crap,
Linda sang and gave every song its due and she sang some great songs.
different times sir it is what it is
Notice how she hits the note, EVERY note, EVERY time.... spot-on..... No auto-tune needed.
She is a well-known perfectionist when it comes to music and singing. Some said that made her very hard to work with.
yup was thinking everything so tight no loose ends and if so meant so precise
It’s called perfect pitch. Very few singers have it. Less women than men because women can hit more octaves than men. She has perfect pitch.
@@StilettoSniper A better word would be challenging.... She needs the exact ingredients for her mission/vison ... Gotta have the right internal make up to rise with Linda.
Auto tune is for amateurs or/and Boyzone
SHE HAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE, SUCH CLARITY.
To be able to sing an entire song flawlessly in one take is something a lot of today’s stars just can’t do. Karen Carpenter had that gift too.
She spot on in concert.
Billybob Bubbawubba why she never did a live album is baffling. She just lets loose and really belts it out in concert.
And Eva Cassidy!
TJ Wash RONSTADT was vocally stunning. Karen Carpenter was a grotesque cornball musically. IMHO.
Lawrence Clayton, USMC you have a point. There was just something about the key she sang in, her pitch that really appealed to me. Linda is my all time favorite though, no one even comes close as second favorite.
The purest voice, best female vocalist across all genres period!
Amen!....
No doubt
Gladys Knight gave her a run for her money. Both of them consummate professionals.
@@williambartley7007 She did and Karen Carpenter.
@@lorraineb.4698 : You beat me to it :)
This is what separates her from all: her innocence, soft feminity & Her EYES! They SPARKLE, yes!! Shows her inner beauty with her incredible out beauty, STUNNING & BREATH-TAKING; another treasure from our BOOMER generation to the world--gifted and created by our LORD.
Beautiful soul x
Beautiful inside and out. One of the world's great female vocalists.
Fantastic singer, now 76 👍
Linda is the Soundtrack for an entire Generation.
Let me just say I'm over 60 and Linda and others will always be with me...
In radio 5O years, heard them all.. She is the most versatile artist ever. Rock, pop, country, soul, big band,
Hispanic...did it all credibly. Never a stretch.
100 % true. No one could sing like her.
one of the best woman singers of all time
still sharing her music and loving this song
Shes up there with the other queen Aretha ,Celine and Babs and for good measure ill add Dolly Parton and Wynonna
That's for sure, but there are plenty of others who rank up there too, like Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, Anita Carter, Aretha Franklin, jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, gospel singers Mahalia Jackson and Marian Anderson, and don't forget great opera singers like Maria Callas and Leontyne Price.
Yup, one of the best female singers of my generation!
@Michael Landgren Have to agree, my top picks.
Linda, your recordings make our hearts glow... and your forced silence makes our hearts ache.
She was married to the gov of Cal.
@@stevecarroll7953 Not married to Jerry Brown, but they were an item for a while in the 70s. They showed up together at music venues around LA.
@@janegoodman4913 If they were not married they put on one hell of a show
John Brown
So well put ... your words say it all.
The good thing that has come from this is that she now uses her voice to speak with &, meaning by that, her simple & to-the-point remark made @ the Kennedy Center. The rest is how she has used "Common Sense" to structure her time that is left. But, yes, my heart does the human thing & I ache right along with you @ the loss of the heroic singing.
She was such a heartbreaker.
How luck we were to grow up with the sound of the amazing voice of that beautiful woman. Love you Linda
She didn't need gimmicks. Her voice said it all. A true genuine artist and lady.
No auto tune for sure.

Linda Ronstadt turned 74 this very day! Congratulations ms. Ronstadt! I've been listening to your beautiful voice and music for more than 50 years now (i'm 59 myself). Every time I listened to Linda, she held my heart in her hands.
I love the shrug at the end..'Is that okay?' She had no idea of its perfection!
What a great tune
Hi Jeffrey, How’re you doing today
And this isn't the version that was released!
An incredible voice to go with an amazing lady. Blessings!
The one female artist who could equally sell out a rock, country, or folk concert. What voice, versatile, soulful and yet powerful, simply wonderful!
Y música ranchera también de manera memorable!!
There's a reason that she was so popular in the '70's, she could REALLY sing. What a powerful voice. (Ok, we all had a crush on her..)
Possibly the most versatile singer of all time and she never missed a note in her career. Absolutely beautiful.
What a performance!!!!
I just have to say this is the most talented sweetest little thing God ever invented...
One of the Greatest Voices of my Generation, truly authentic, powerful and flawless

50 years later and I'm still in love with Linda. My first wife was her doppelganger...only reason I married her. Miss your voice Linda...and your fire.
Lord can't give you back your youth - but for a few minutes perhaps hours - Ronstadt can.
Never heard a better female voice ever.
Linda Ronstadt, THE VOICE!
Eva Cassidy??
come on
What!?!?!?! LOL
The only be place I've heard better is at the Opera.
Saw her live in the early 80’s at Cornell (back when Cornell had amazing concerts year after year…). She came onstage wearing a Cornell cheerleader outfit and had won over the entire audience by the 3rd note. Wonderful voice.
Class act and beautiful voice! ❤
Have listened to a lot of music in the 64 years of my lifetime. Her voice is one that only comes along once in a lifetime, if you are lucky. Have always been amazed by just how good she actually was. Really saddened by the fact that her voice has been silenced forever. There are so many things that I miss from the past, and listening to new music from her is one of them.
I can think of female voices that have (had) more nuance -- Joni Mitchell, Dionne Warwick -- but Ronstadt's voice comes very close to those, and for certain kinds of songs -- like this one -- her voice is perfectly suited. What a shame that she now has Parkinson's disease. Of course, those other great ladies have lost their youthful voices too.
@@calebmurdock2028 The point she's making is Linda Ronstadt' has covered everything, NOT just HER own Songs, Such as ''Joni'' or ''Dionne.'' has, true, they are Fine Artist, loss not in the same way, good day, All.
Great post.
I've got 10 years on you age wise. Usually envy you "kids" but I was lucky enough to get to hear her from the beginning right up to recordings now. I consider her work to be an important part of the 'soundtrack of my life'. Believe me, ten years from now you will appreciate her even more.
BTW check out The Trio tracks with Linda, Dolly, & Emmylou. Super harmony plus the 3 are great friends still.
@@sandburgmartin7947 Yes, unfortunately I started listening to Linda a little late, the first new song I heard from her was Heat Wave in around 74 or 75, and I was hooked. I think I saw her sing that on the Howard Cosell show, of all things. Fortunately, she has a large catalog of diverse work (I even like the Nelson Riddle stuff) and I plan on listening to most of it and picking out some new personal favorites. Believe me, I appreciate her work immensely now.
So sad that she can't sing anymore...what a great voice...I got to see her in concert in Gainesville, FL 1980, one of my favs.

When Linda does someone else's song she makes It HER song. The face and voice of an angel.
That's really true and quite special, but let's not forget she always had a hell of a backing band.
@nuccten..exactly! Smokey Robinson released it in 1965, this one by HER IS better..

I consider MOST of her covers to be superior to the originals versions.
nuccten X...nope....
She shrugs her shoulders at the end as if to say...yeah I think we got it! Beyond the truth, Linda...You Got It!
My boyfriend went to school with her brother I saw her once she was so sweet & kind. I’ve been a fan of hers for 50+ years now. ❤
I've got chills. Her voice is sooo beautiful. Also nice to hear she's a gracious person.
Amazing singer, beautiful face, charming personality and very smart. She really had it all
She met Bernie Sanders recently, it was a mutual admiration society, Linda in a wheel chair and Bernie telling her he was a huge fan.
Her singing DEFINES the standard of PERFECTION.
I read this comment one time and don't know if it is true, but Willie Nelson was to have said there are two types of men in the world. The ones who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and the ones who have never heard of her. Well said. What a great voice that transcended all types of music.
"Take a good look at my face" she tells us. What do we see? Feminine perfection. My god is she beautiful.....
I bought the Prisoner in Disguise album as soon as it went on sale. My roommate didn’t like anything except Motown and oldies, and I knew he didn’t expect to like the new Linda Ronstadt album. But I started Tracks of My Tears and he literally stopped in his tracks mesmerized.
Celestial and Earthy. Best live pipes on the planet and beyond.
Greatest female singer of all time
There isn't anything that she couldn't sing beautifully. She still my all-time favorite
This Lady is one hell of a singer!!!!!!!!!
Linda Ronstadt and Andrew Gold were the best combo ever!
*No wonder she was penned 'the siren'. When Linda Ronstadt sang 'live' she just had this energy, few singers could, or will ever compare to. Her folksy blues singing hooked me, then her Country & Western style hooked me again with her 'Trio' albums, then later it was singing Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra. Bringing up the back, harmonizing with the great Aaron Neville. And her Spanish albums are just as fresh. Only the greatest female singer ever to be recorded on wax.*

I had the pleasure to see Linda sing this song live at Boston' Music Hall '73. Andrew Gold, Kenny Edwards, Michael Botts, Dan Dugmore. In one word.... BABE!!
It is rare that a performer does a better job covering a MASTERPIECE like "Tracks of my Tears". This is one such performance. Sorry, Smokey, but she does it better.

My momma introduced me to Linda Ronstadt when we bought a new bluetooth enabled radio that could also play 45 records. She was in high school during Linda's heyday in the 70s, and the first song my mother played was "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me." After that, I listened to "Blue Bayou" on my own and just loved it.

I was a year old 45 years ago, but I certainly remember hearing a lot of Linda Ronstadt’s songs in the late 70s and throughout my childhood. So yeah, I remember 1978 and 79....If you remember those years you’re getting old.
And ya i am just a girl who was born in 2000, and i like this song
