I never met her and I've had a crush since I was 17, 1972
I’ve Never Known Linda but I’ve had a crush on her since she first came out
I’m 1967 when I was 12 years old
He actually said that about Emmylou Harris
I've always had a crush on Linda since I was in high school
I've had a crush on Linda since I was in
Best vocalist ever..and I’m still watching this in 2024……
Nobody ever sang like her before or since. Just an extraordinary voice.
Listen to a live version of "The Carpenters" performing, "Rainy Days and Mondays." (on You Tube). Tell me what you think of Karen Carpenter's voice (?)
I agree. She was special. And few voices today can honor her. Kelly Clarkson is one. Gabriel Henrique of Brazil, is another. Honestly, he can do justice to her. He does not yet speak English but listen to him sing "Fire to the rain". I would love that voice to sing "The moon is a harsh mistress" by Linda.
Gabriel was invited to audition for AGT. He will shine on stage June 1. I keep dropping hints for him to cover Linda's exceptional voice. Hope you listen.✌️💖🌹

She's one of those rare singers who balances flawless technique with great soulfulness. Her voice is powerful yet beautifully vulnerable.
She worked in so many "genres," as well. She even released some albums in Spanish language. It really is amazing how versatile her talent is.
Well put.

@@grantsmythe8625 I know, it's unfortunate that she retired because she couldn't live up to her standards of performance.

The underappreciated Andrew Gold playing acoustic guitar. I believe he was her band leader for a period in the 70s. Great talent as well.
She’s gorgeous in every way imaginable. 50yrs later and that teenage crush is still alive. Wow!

My hubby is gone now....but he had a major crush on this lady! I did too! She was a musical angel 😇 ❤️
Arguably the greatest female vocalist of all time, certainly the most beautiful fan forever🇦🇺
She may be the most complete singer who ever lived. She literally sang everything. Beautifully.
Did back stage security for her on a couple of shows, she was gracious, kind, beautiful and everything you'd hope for. Lovely human being.
My heart throb as a teen
Still got a crush on her! (at 58!)
It's so nice to hear that. She seems humble in interviews.

It is rare that a performer does a better job covering a MASTERPIECE like "Tracks of my Tears". This is one such performance. Sorry, Smokey, but she does it better.
Such a beautiful cover. It's the best version

Nope not ONE of the greatest THE GREATEST
One of the greatest all round female singers but Cher, Amy Winehouse, Tina Turner, Joan Jett, Big Mama Cass, Karen Carpenter, Diana Ross, Dusty Springfield, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Janis Joplin, Chrissie Hynde prolly had the edge in a lotta songs of theirs … girl groups like The Ronettes , The Marvelettes , Shakespeares Sister etc etc etc

I fell in love with LInda in the early 70's. I was so fortunate to have seen her live in Concert in Austin in the early 70's while at UT. I will never forget it. I still love her. My all time favorite female singer. Never a greater talent in our lifetime. She is still an Angel that just doesn't sing anymore. God Speed OMG
I feel sorry for anyone who never heard her sing live. Absolutely stunning. The best recording equipment of the day could not capture her voice. If you couldn't go to a show, you had to wait for the microchip to come along. Truly indescribable and unforgettable.
I never did. Before my time. I would have seen her in a heartbeat.
@@BenneWill I saw her probably 1974 or '75. My parents had taken us to one of these huge theme parks and she was doing a show there. I was a kid and it was one of the first concerts I ever attended. I don't know if my parents knew she would be there. Doesn't seem likely. I was never the same. I started earning money, bought a stereo snd started collecting records. Ben, you gotta watch 'The Sound of My Voice'. You will hear many people talk about the first time they heard her sing. It was the most amazing thing I had ever witnessed. She would barely part her lips and this huge voice would push you back in your seat. Never saw anyone else that could do that. It really did change the course of my life. It is a deep dive to cover all of the recordings she made. Have fun getting to know the most incredible singer you will likely ever hear!

Why is every Linda Ronstadt video a live version? Because she's that good.
Because live is where the crowd and the artist work together and create magic!
You nailed it Richard! Saw her live a few times, and she could easily throw that beautiful voice to the back of the crowd along with every instrument on stage. She was brilliant.
Pure angelic voice, 'don't need no stinkin autotune'.
From what I have seen, she is that rare singer that I believe sounded better live than recorded, whether that makes sense or not.
shyly, humbly shrugging at end with an uncomfortable little grin... as if to ask. "Well, I tried, was that OK?" Shit, no one could match that in 100 takes. Perfect. From an unreal talent and from all accounts, a really dynamite person too. Bravo!
Linda, your recordings make our hearts glow... and your forced silence makes our hearts ache.

The good thing that has come from this is that she now uses her voice to speak with &, meaning by that, her simple & to-the-point remark made @ the Kennedy Center. The rest is how she has used "Common Sense" to structure her time that is left. But, yes, my heart does the human thing & I ache right along with you @ the loss of the heroic singing.

To be able to sing an entire song flawlessly in one take is something a lot of today’s stars just can’t do. Karen Carpenter had that gift too.

Billybob Bubbawubba why she never did a live album is baffling. She just lets loose and really belts it out in concert.

51 years ago (1970) I was an infantryman in the Vietnam War. We were sent to a Village that was victimized by the enemy. The people were tortured, some raped, including children. Trying to help, we missed the enemy by minutes, they escaped. I stumbled across a little girl, raped & murdered.
The scene was horrific, I was trying to untie her hands to make her look more human. As I bent over her my tears were dropping on her face, running down her cheeks. Even today when I hear "Tracks Of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson or Linda Ronstadt, I think about that little girl.
