Going to high school in Tucson in 1962 Linda hung in the same crowd. She used to sing at outdoor malls on Friday night's. I went in the army after graduation. Linda told me to stay safe and gave me a hug. I will never forget that. When I got out 2 years later Linda had moved to California with her band The Stone Poneys who also performed with another group in the late 60s who thanks to Linda became the Eagles in 1971. Linda was raised right and in spite of the hippie generation then she never got caught up in the challenges of those times. I will never forget her and the beautiful voice made in heaven.

This song really speaks to me. The song perfectly sums up what it’s like to not experience a reciprocated love in your life; everyone gives you good advice, everyone encourages you and everyone tells you it will all be worth it when it finally arrives. But you sit there, night after night, alone. And you wonder what’s going wrong. You start thinking it’s just not meant to be for you, and maybe you come to accept it eventually. It’s just who you are. You’re not someone who’s going to love someone and be loved back. And then one day someone falls into a hole right outside where you live, and you help them out, and they fill the hole in your heart. And it’s all okay.

A friend of mine talked me into going with her to see Linda Ronstadt in Ventura Cali in the fall of 1972. I wasn't into country music at the time and thought it was going to suck but I agreed to go. When this beautiful petit woman walked out on stage and started singing I couldn't believe my ears. I was blown away by the power and tone of her voice That night changed my perspective on music genres and introduced me to one of the greatest female voices of all time. Where ever you are today, thank you Sandra G.
Speaking of one of the greatest voices and musical genres, Linda lent her voice to the albums of so many artists that in my pursuit to hear her, I found many great musicians I’d not otherwise have known of.
I bought the “Heart Like a Wheel“ LP in 1974, and listened to it every night. I stared at the B/W photo of this beautiful woman on the cover… I thought, “how wonderful it would be if this woman sang me to sleep with this song every night”… never happened, BUT, I have reveled in her talent ever since. When I sing ‘Willin’ in my cover show, I do her version, not the Little Feat version…

Agree 100%.
Love of my life broke up with me. Gave me a reason a year later. This song was my theme song.
Thank you Linda for al these years you have shared your beautiful talent in so many genres and languages.
Was singing it while watching Last of Us and my 30 year old son watched me in amazement that I knew the words!
I am also 30 and didn't know it either. Its so beautiful
Isn't it wild how our kids are amazed we know some cool things? I don't even believe all casual Ronstadt fans would have known the song.
Ditto, except my son is 14!
He liked it and let the episode play, and me sing, until the end of the song.
His face was priceless when I told him it came out 2 years before I was born and I grew up listening to it.
🤔 I wonder if they know what an actual ditto is? 🤔
I'm here because of Ruby Leigh on The Voice
Me too, I grew up listening to Linda & love her, I wanted to compare the two. I’m not choosing, but bring tears to my eyes.
I cried for an hour when frank ask bill to give him one more good day. I couldn't finish the episode. I'm reminded of my mom and our last days together. Heart breaking!
I’m so sorry for your loss but that’s the best thing we can do for our love ones…
Man she sings right into your soul through her eyes!
EXACTLY!
I love moments like this when a great show or movie makes you go to youtube and search a great song you've never heard.
Same here
How sad that you have never heard it, so many great songs from the past, Roger's and Hammerstein Broadway hits come to mind, Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, the songs from The King and I, from Oklahoma, If I Loved You, from Carousel
It’s hard to listen to this song without tearing up
Have we all experienced this feeling? I know I have.
Dude, that episode was magical. first time tv has ever made me cry, good job HBO.
This video is about to blow up 15 years after it was published
😭😭😭😭
Like “running up that hill” with strangers things
@Ginger Cat Do you make an effort to listen to today's music (Gen Z or Gen Alpha)? You can't expect kids today to appreciate music from 60 years ago unless they are exposed to it. Just like you can't expect Baby Boomers to appreciate music from today unless they are exposed to it.
I was terrified that Frank might hurt Bill when they first met but turns out they’re hurting me 😢
I'm here because I'm old and on a Linda spiral
This was the perfect song for that episode. I loved their bad singing, it was beautiful. And I have always loved this beautiful song. I hope Linda is aware of all this and getting some joy from it.
I liked Frank’s singing
Linda makes me proud to be a Mexican/American
Linda Ronstadt has the voice of an Angel. Her musical catalog spans all genres. So glad a new generation is discovering her. RIP Frank and Bill.
After listening to Ruby Leigh, I realized I had not heard this song for a long, long time and decided to check in on my favorite talents.
Ruby is awesome
I have to agree. I forgot just how powerful this song is and what a great vocalist Linda was
"The Last of Us" brought me here. Thank You.

If you find this, please do not come into the bedroom. We left the window open so the house wouldn't smell, but it will probably be a sight. I'm guessing you found this Joel, because anyone else would have been electrocuted or blown up by one of my traps (hehehehe).
Take whatever you need. The bunker code is the same as the gate code, but in reverse. But anyway, I never liked you. But still, it's like we're friends, almost. And I respect you. So I'm gonna tell you something because you're probably the only person in the world who will understand. I used to hate the world, and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong, because there was one person worth saving. That's what I did. I saved him. Then I protected him. That's why men like you and me are here. We have a job to do. And god help any motherfuckers who stand in our way.
I leave you all of my weapons and equipment, use them to keep Tess safe. And if you decide that you're staying the night, I recommend pairing some of rabbit in the freezer with a nice bottle of Bordello.
Farewell,
Bill
Linda Ronstadt is a US and Mexican Treasure. His family root is from Mexico. Hear Las Canciones de mi Padre!!
Yep! So many people dont know that!!
Her
Thanks to "The Last of Us" for reminding people how great this song and Linda Ronstadt are.
It is rare that I come across a song that I'd never heard before that just knocks me on my ass, but Last of Us episode 3 did it and I can't get enough of this song.
Check out her whole catalog. You’re in for a religious experience.
@@fasterpussycatkillkill9650 Funny thing is I am familiar with Stone Poneys and some of her other stuff, but never got to this. I’ve started with album one and been working my way through all day. Amazing.
All her stuff is good. She has the most hits in multiple genres.
You should to her awesome voice and songs
Doesn't everybody love Linda Ronstadt
I think it's a natural law.
Whoever thought to put this song in The Last of Us is a genious. Not only has it withstood the test of time but I'm happy to see so many young(er) people enjoying this song. I just hope they will look a little deeper into Linda Ronstadt's tremendous catalog of music.
If Linda singing this song doesnt emotionally move you , your already dead
R.I.P BIll and Frank
The last of us, brought me here too, lovely tune, lovely voice 👏👏
"And I think I'm gonna love you
For a long long time."
And, after all these many years, I still do.
It's not the 1970s without Linda Ronstadt.
Her music helped define that decade.
+George Vreeland Hill And the 80s, too. Can you recall her role in "The Pirates of Penzance" on Broadway in the 90s?
+George Vreeland Hill it sure did
+George Vreeland Hill it sure did
+steve unger NOBODY could have sang this song like Linda
+steve unger --alison from The Voice does come close.
72 year Hippie in California in 2021 still loving hearing Linda...escapism

Time for you to escape from hell and go to normal. Nothing to fear from Covid.
@@mikewhite9818 Says none of the 5.68 million people who have died from it in a two-year span.
@@royrowland5763 If you know about highly effective treatments then nothing to fear. I vertmetin and HC Q are more effective than the poison pushed by leftists. But there is much to fear about California. It is all ready ruined. Escape is the only alternative.
