How to Defrost Samsung Refrigerator in Force Defrost Mode: DIY Defrosting Guide

For different models you might press and hold different buttons, I write down the following information what buttons are pressed and held to enter test mode to start the manual defrost cycle.
Model RF25HMEDB**: press and hold Freezer + Lighting button.
Model RF26J7500SR: press and hold Freezer + Lighting button.
Model RF28HMEDB**: press and hold Freezer + Lighting button.
Model RF263TD**: press and hold Lighting + Fridge button.
Model RF265AA**: press and hold Power Freeze + Fridge button.
Model RF266AA**: press and hold Power Freeze + Fridge button.
Model RF267AA**: press and hold Energy Saver + Alarm button or Fridge.

I have the Samsung RS265TDRS. When mine freezes, I use the OF mode or unplug it and open the door for 6 to 10 hrs. I cannot access those other modes. I don't think I have that type of access since mine is a 2012 model.

simultaneously pressing the "lighting" and "fridge" button for eight seconds will enter diagnose or test mode. and then press "fridge" button to choose "rd" or "Fd" defrost mode. unless you have some hardware issue with board. let me know how you enter the "OF" Demo mode? it seems to me you can enter test mode and somehow you choose Demo mode.

@@guelphming3843 I finally, was able to enter the defrost mode by simultaneously pressing the lighting and fridge buttons. I'm able to enter the OF mode by pressing the lighting and freezer buttons simultaneously for 8 sec. I wish they would put that info in the owner's manual. Thank you for your quick response!

We had Mike Ming come today to service our Frigidaire Gallery. Huge amount of ice build up. He forced a manual defrost and unplugged the drain hose that caused the problem. Try FD in the manual mode. It defrosts both fridge and freezer. Good luck.

I am trying the FD mode since my ice maker is not working and refrigerator is not cooling possibly because of ice build up. How long does it typically take? How does it indicate it’s done? How to come out of FD mode?

Thanks for watching, It takes about 20 - 40 min to defrost. all of defrost can come out after completion. or you can unplug power to get out. when in forced defrost it has beeping sound.
