I thought most folks knew about this already? I like to use the guitar sounds so I can add more effects than what’s available with the virtual guitars.
Yup. A lot of folks would arrays know about these but I get asked about this multiple times a week so wanted a reference video for folks who aren’t aware.
If you’re gonna make music with GarageBand, you won’t get very far unless you utilize alchemy instruments. And alchemy instrument basically has eight instruments in one synthesizer. You can adjust it to however you please, for any scenario any genre, old school, new school, yada yada
Pete! You're always helpful. Hey, I notice that the only brass instruments are "brass ensemble" and "french horn". But there is no saxophone or muted trumpet or other kinds of jazz brass instruments. I am very interesting in adding instruments like this, but don't know where to look. Any ideas? Free is nice, but I'm willing to pay...Thanks!!!
Cool, can’t wait to use them in my next GB project! Thanks Pete, So many helpful tutorials here to expand our creativity! So many times I stumble upon things in GB, you always remind us of where & how! 🎵💜👍
@@PeteJohnsMusic yes I had downloaded it. For me at least it works okay but it does glitch a lot. I lost my first project. After using integrating the saxophone, my file was corrupted. So I had to restart again. I had duplicate copies because the second time I did, it wouldn’t let me open the original. So it’s extra work and glitchy but yes, it does work
Not really. But you can take MIDI created on a GarageBand insutrunent and move it to a third party plugin. In fact, I might show this in this week’s GarageBand tutorial video.
Hey there. Try searching for specific terms. And once you select brass you can choose a specific instrument. I’ll cover this in more detail in a future video.
Sort of. Keys, guitars and strings are all slightly different but there are ways like I show in this one. ruclips.net/video/mkBmxaUkVog/видео.htmlsi=pGegSQ1fkc0fAWqQ
Pete I need help my dude. Firstly, your videos have been absolutely crucial for helping me make music with all your tips and tricks. I’m releasing my first Lofi track on Spotify this week! Anyway, what I’m looking for is Indian instruments. Would be great even if I could just get a sitar sound. Can you help at all? If not, I think I’ll give up and just use a guitar and try to make it sound sitar like by doubling up or something. Unsure. In any case, thank you so much for all your help up to this point. Yer a hero lad. Cheers from Edinburgh. ❤️🏴
Howdy! So I haven’t personally come across a heap of good Indian instruments in third party apps but I’m sure there’s some out there. You could try using samples or loops from somewhere like freesound.org, of search RUclips for reviews of a “sitar auv3 app” or similar?
@@PeteJohnsMusic hmmm it doesn’t appear on my iPad or iPhone and I checked for the latest version. That’s weird maybe I’m not looking in the right place. But thanks so much 🥰
Hey there. Not quite sure what you’re asking sorry? Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
For those who can’t see it, I found it! Sneaky. Just as you’re in the menu of the keyboard options on the top left there is “Main Categories”, click that and it’ll take you to the secret garden of so many more options including Others✨
@@PeteJohnsMusic I don’t usually make my own songs. I remake already existing songs and I aim to get them perfect. Sometimes its hard to do it with the instruments I have on GarageBand.

This is a different section than virtual Gtr I think
@@MarsCapone it is. You’re able to play the guitar sounds on the keyboard instead of strumming the virtual guitar.

Yep it's well known and you can find it without even going on more sounds.
@@PeteJohnsMusic I figured there was a reason. 👍

Unless you’re making rock. Or metal. Or folk. Or jazz. Or classical. 😎
But yes, for electronic music it’s pretty awesome! 🙌

Hey there. Yes you’ll need to use external apps for that. Check out SWAM instruments or iSymphonic. Both are pretty good.

Okay, does anyone know how to add a saxophone in GarageBand? Like on the piano? I don’t see a lot of wind instruments
There’s no built in sax sorry. This app works well. ruclips.net/video/NxV38-CrMbM/видео.htmlsi=flEwFtGuhd_myGzl

Is it possible to use the Chord functions on 3rd party instruments?

Can I take a track that I recorded with my midi keyboard make a new track with let’s say a guitar and make the song sound like it’s from a guitar?

Thanks Pete. I think I’ll likely have to report to loops.

Hi Pete. Random question, but are garageband instruments pre-EQ'd, compressed etc. Or should we add that ourselves?
They mostly have compression, EQ, effects etc applied so not much processing is needed in my experience. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
How did you get the custom option?
Go to the first menu and to the bottom.

i dont have that option?
You do if you are using GarageBand iOS. You might just be in the “Alchemy” instrument already. Just go back to the first menu and you’ll be golden.
From the tiny “Main Categories” on top left; it’ll take you to all other options
WHY IS THER NO MORE SECION
Hey there. Not quite sure what you’re asking sorry? Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
Yeah; doesn’t pop up for me on my iPhone 14 🤔
Make sure you are looking from the very front screen. If you’re already in “Alchemy” or something else it won’t show the base level options.
Idk any technical terms, but I was trying to open the selection screen from the wrong area & I later figured it out ❗️
I found it from the tiny “Main Categories” on top left, click that and it’ll take you to the secret options
I can’t find it
Must be more hidden than we thought?!

Pretty cool ain’t it? 🤘😎
Yeah! New video! Wahoooo! 😅😁
🤘😎
I no longer have the others though, it’s all gone now
You might just be in the "Alchemy" menu. Make sure you go all the way back to the first one.
🤪👍

They should update the instruments because they don’t sound too good.
I find the wind instruments and world instruments quite good actually? Especially for free. But yes, some additional brass especially would be cool.
