    Fun fact: There’s a much more realistic sustain violin in the Synth Pads section of the keyboard. It’s called “Hollywood Strings” and it sounds fantastic!

    Hi Pete, that was clever regarding your tip of the week by using the software to get the two tracks in both headphones... I would like people to know that a good solution for doing this if you are streaming live is to use the Roland go mixer Pro as this outputs all inputs to one stereo track down the middle. The only downside is that it's not good if you want to edit this as it merges all inputs to one track.

    The strings won't play open, on any of the string instruments in Notes mode, on my iPhone.

    Hi Pete, when using the strings and recording in bowed mode, the system obviously is saving some velocity automation from the recording - but when I go in and edit the midi to correct wrong timings and such, the automation doesn’t move with it. I can’t see any way to change this so that I can keep my recorded bowing intensity but still be able to change note timings after the fact. Any ideas?

    I don’t know why but nothing changes when I tap with 2 or 3 fingers compared with 1 tap.

    When I quantize the strings they suddenly sound horrible. Something very wrong with the attack. Does anyone else have this issue?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  3 года назад

      Yeah the attack is quite slow on many of those string sounds so the quantization doesn’t really seem to work super well. Often you’ll need to manually adjust.

      GarageBand Mac has string instruments also and there are plenty of tutorials online that can help.

      Some instruments, including strings, have unfortunately been changed in recent updates and don't seem to support this anymore. Try it on the piano and other keyboards as it's still there on those. studiolivetoday.com/garageband

      @@PeteJohnsMusic Sorry I was very frustrated and tired when I wrote that. I have been looking and looking for alternate patches for oboe and other misc orchestral instruments, ideally where I could either get it for free or pick and choose and not have to buy some huge package of sounds. There are only some sounds I'm not happy with from my current softwares. And when I google "oboe sounds" or "orchestra sounds" I only found about 10 articles, and every single one of them was for iPad or iPhone. Thanks for the Garageband guide pointer. It looks like it's too much info to sift through to potentially not find a good answer, but thank you.
