I don't have all the equipment yet but I'm studying music production and your channel is SO helpful You're really helping me, the quality of my channel will get better and better bc of you!
an improvement proposal: put a low cut on your voice, often bass bumps are hearable, as something slaps against your mic stand. Apart from this: Nice content, I learnt a lot! :)
I don't think these strings are anywhere near as bad as some people seem to make out. I personally think the fact these sound synthetic is a good thing and they are still perfectly acceptable for someone learning or for hobbyists. In school or college they would show you how to do everything using only stock instruments and stock effects. I made do with Halion Sonic SE for 6 years before the full version of Halion started coming down in price and I have also done many tracks using just stock sounds in Mixcraft and believe me the Acoustica instruments library sounds far more inferior to Logic's stock instruments. Free stuff like Labs and BBCSO DIscover is definitely worth trying out and should be good enough for any hobbyist.
One of the best ways to compress, change/improve the tone, & make a signal cut through the mix all the while having its dynamic volume tucked into the mix..... ....is to use saturation. Youre welcome.
This is good, though if you're working on an orchestral score with a high track count, using multiple libraries which involve negative track delay will be much easier with quantisation. It will be very difficult without. You can always use humanisation settings and slightly varied negative track delays to introduce the 'creative timing' of a real orchestral section.
What about Just intonation? The pitch of thirds forths and fifths ..sevenths....It makes diference? More realistic...It depends? Sounds more beutiful? In songs that dont have a piano ..(temperement pitch) shoud i use Just intonation on strings? Greettings from Brazil
5:59 In Reaper, you can change all midi notes' volume from 0-127. I use a keyboard, but after that I quantize, edit the length & volume, and sometimes I even drag the notes to other notes... or add/subtract notes.
I’d say put each note ever so slightly out of tune. I also find increasing the release in ADSR ever so slightly can widen the sound of strings if it suits the track …
Hey Drew, I don't know if you've made a video about this yet but I'm wanting to get into freelance audio mixing, but until I get clients, I was wondering how and what do I practice for getting better and more comfortable using Pro Tools when I'm not working on a project in particular? This video is super hempful, thanks!
Celeste Chick, look into some of the plugin companies. I know that Waves has had free mixing classes where you download a project and mix it. Dave Darlington did one a few years ago.
Man, I do believe this video is very well made and educational, but it's really harsh to just hear you say "for this part, if you have a MIDI keyboard, use it." and then give no help for people who don't have one, like me...
Legato doesn't mean sustained bud, you talked a couple of times like it does. It's to do with how smoothly notes join together it's got nothing to do with the sound of a single note.

Hi Drew, any advice on how to automate while using a plug-in for strings like Sampletank? Thanks a lot!

This is fantastic. I’ll be returning to this when I work on strings. Of course, now I feel like I have to go back and fix everything 😁
What a friggin FANTASTIC tutorial!
Loved this! The automation tip is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks so much 👌🏼👌🏼
I wish you continued success in the field of music and RUclips thank you

GREAT job on this Tutorial. Thank you!
Best video I've seen on MIDI strings in Logic Pro X. So concise and easy to follow. Thanks so much! Definitely subscribing.
MIDI brass next?
Mark Williams Oh yeah, that would be great
Thanks, this was great. (Although I'm worried poor Tchaikovsky is spinning in his grave.) 😃

Thanks for the tutorial! Awesome!
Thank you very much
You're a Legend Thankyou so much
Please do video on Fim scoring and composing 🙏🙏🙏
Lovely track and very good tutorial - thank you.
Happy to help!
Really great tutorial. Thanks guys!
Excellent videos really useful. Be great to have a horns/sax follow up (hint hint 😀). Great channel, really well explained. Keep up the great work 🙏🏼

you can do the same with abletons velocity, its really a charm, reaper is supposed to be easier for strings
Thank you dear..
Such a great tutorial.
Thanks
Hi what Kind of kontroller with fader do you use? Thanks
Re: Strings, Brass & woodwinds do they need much EQing & compression? Would I also do bus compression on Brass & Woodwinds? Thanks.
Go by your ears
What's the name of the song?
what name of this vsti

how to made a solo violin sound realistic ? with a lot of work
ps.: the rules for writing for strings is instrumentation. Orchestration is about how to apply those rules as a musical result
It's LA Scoring Strings for me
No string part is gonna fix that singing.
Man what?
lmfao
How to do tremolo on a violin? Pitch lfo or thru midi notes?
bro look for kontakt, a gentle suggest
Your vocals need tuning. The strings are really showing them up!
This reaper??? Please help #kezomusicstudios

lol horrifying video 😂
You used logic sounds to begin with
I can’t take you seriously what a huge waste of my precious time 😢

Interesting, but these strings sound really bad :D
At least they came with Logic.
