Please help, i have a scarlett 2i2 and apple lightning to USB 3 adapter connected to a powerbrick and the iPad (5th generation, iOS 13.2.3 ) still says “Cannot use accessory: Scarlett 2i2 USB: this accessory requires too much power”. The setup works on my iPhone 7 iOS 13.2.3 so i know that i am not doing anything wrong. I just want to use the iPad cause it has a larger screen. Thank you so much.
Hey there. I would highly recommend a powered USB hub in this situation as it will provide much more reliable power and work with any iOS device, as it won’t drain any of the power from your iPhone or iPad.
SOLVED: Just use a powerbrick strong enough to power the iPad such as the iPad’s original powerbrick. (When I had the problem, turns out I was still using the iPhone’s powerbrick for the iPad, my bad)
I just received this exact same USB hub and it works great!!! I had an old M-Audio interface laying around that didn’t work with my MacBook anymore and I couldn’t believe it works with the iPad!!! It’ll be great to go out and record mobile wherever inspiration comes to me, thank you for this tutorial.
I was having problems with my UR22-C and iPad and i remembered that you had a video. You are the best teacher on the web. You explain everything and yes i take your advice on gear.
Pete Johns I bought all the products suggested in this video and am using a focusrite Scarlett 18i8. The first time I plugged everything in it worked, but after I turned everything off and plugged in the mics, the iPad stopped recognizing the interface. I can’t get it to bring up that message that says “audio device connected”

Hey!! Just want to say THANK YOU for making this video. I got the usb hub you recommended and my focusrite and IPad set is ready for worship tomorrow at our church. Thank you!! Keep doing these videos my friend.
Hi Pete. Great video. A good audio interface to consider if you want to avoid the lightning connection issues is the Focusrite iTrack Solo. It comes with a lightning cable, so you can just plug and play. I picked mine up 2nd hand, boxed and barely used for about the same price as the usb to lightning adapter you’re using in the vid. It doesn’t draw power from the iPad, so you do need to connect it to a usb power source.
Nice one! Thanks for the recommendation. I have seen the iTrack Solo around the place and often wondered if it was a good option since it supports iOS out of the box. So it has two separate connections, one for power and one for data?
@@PeteJohnsMusic Yes. It has a usb power supply which I just plug in to an Apple charger. The Lightning cable has a proprietary connector to the device which probably won’t work with anything else. The interface can apparently work with Mac or PC if you download the appropriate driver, although I’ve never tried it. Other than that, it’s pretty standard. Two inputs with separate gain stages (mic and jack), phantom power, direct headphone monitor and two line outs for monitors. I’ve never used anything else, so I don’t know how it compares to other devices, but it’s working fine for me.
Beautiful! Thanks for the extra info. Looks like a really solid option for those wanting an "out of the box" solution but wanting something more solid than the iRig range.
I would love to see a comparison between the iTrack Solo and the Scarlet Solo as those are the two I’ve narrowed my search to. I asked a RUclips reviewer if the iTrack and she said Scarlet will produce a bit better sound.
@@PeteJake100 I’m not sure anyone could say that unequivocally unless they had tried both or studied the components list. For me, the iTrack Solo was an easy choice because I didn’t need an extra camera kit to get connected. I tend to think along the lines of the fewer additional connections in the signal path the better.
Pete, I find myself watching many of your videos and learning something from each one. Thank you so very much for your work. After watching this one…. I went right to Amazon to place an order…….
Hey Pete, your channel rocks! I‘ve been following it for a year now and it helped me a lot, especially with music distribution and ios stuff. Keep on doing what you‘re doing! 🤘
Hi! I have a new iPad7 purchased a month ago, on which I use GarageBand connecting my electric guitar to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen. audio interface, and this one to the iPad. I can hear myself while playing and/or recording if I use my headphones on the interface or/on the iPad. But I can't hear my guitar without headphones, as the iPad's internal speakers stop working. Even if I activate the “monitor” icon in GarageBand, the iPad doesn't sound. I have tried the two solutions that Apple offers on its website, in the troubleshooting section, in the section "GarageBand for IOS: Audio is not heard when monitoring an external device" I have tried both solutions and the problem remains unsolved. Thanks beforehand
Hey there my friend. So, in my experience once you plug in an audio interface this replaces the audio input and output, so I don’t believe there is a way to do this?
You don’t need a hub. You can just use your charger that comes with your iPad. If you’re recording acoustic guitars with CONDENDER mics the FOCUSRITE has 48 volt phantom power. Your acoustic guitar ,and vocals will sound ten times better using a condenser mics. Why does EVERYONE say to use a hub. Use your regular iPad charger.
Hey there. It depends on the audio interface generally. Some will work fine with just the charger plugged in however some tend to use an inconsistent amount of power and need the powered hub. If you have an interface that gets enough power form the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter then you’re good to go. But folks who get the “this device uses too much power” message will need to simply add a hub to their setup. studiolivetoday.com/usb
@@PeteJohnsMusicI just tried to do lightning straight into the adapter + a behringer um2 into the adapter via usb. Doesn’t power the interface. So I’m guessing you are correct and I would need a hub for the power
@@PeteJohnsMusic what if the 3.0 hub you recommended was working but now it’s not? Just barely started saying that i need more power even with the hub.
Thanks you for this… Was thinking about adding a interface like either the UM or the Focusrite to my mobile recoding setup and needing the powered hub would have been a bummer!? Great vid still tho…
Hey on garage band, I can select input 2 with ease, but when wanting to play guitar while recording on the camera it only receives audio in one ear and I cant find a setting on the camera app as well as TikTok any suggestions?
Great video for recording only vocals. Now I'm strugling with record voice+piano at the same time (Focusrite, vocals on channel 1, piano on channel 2). It's only recording voice on Left and piano on Right.
Hey there. Yes, if you record the audio to GarageBand you can choose to record each channel as a mono channel. THe camera app will capture stereo and pan one left and one right. You can use something like LumaFusion to edit the audio or a video, or use a different video app. In short, two channel interfaces are basically just a stereo interface. studiolivetoday.com/usb
Quick question: what’s the difference in quality between using any of these interfaces vs using the iRig? Are interfaces a better translation of the sound than the iRig?
Hey there. So the iRig is pretty good these days. Probably not quite up to the quality of a dedicated USB interface. The difference is usually the quality of the preamp (less noise) and the converters (again, cleaner conversion).
Thank you!!! I’ve been searching for weeks trying to find a connection video. All the other 10,000 videos lol showed the equipment and blah blah blah but this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Appreciate it!!! 💪🏾👏🏾
Hey Pete, loving the content on this channel, thanks! I’m considering between getting the 2020 base model vs 2020 iPad Air. Regarding the lightning connection situation on base model, is the only drawback just the inconvenience of having to use the additional lightning to usb converter? or does it have any other effects on playback sound quality or production performance in general, compared to having a direct usb c connection on the iPad?
Great question my friend. In my experience the only real difference is that you definitely need a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter as opposed to USB-C where you can use pretty much any generic adapters. Once you have the connections converted to USB-A there is no difference in the reliability of the connection or quality of sound through any devices. Hope this helps your decision. studiolivetoday.com/ipad

I have an iPhone X. Tried to connect my Behringer UM-2 interface (love it!) to GarageBand. I used a powered USB 4-port USB 3 hub, an Apple Lightning to USB cable (not the wide one). GarageBand let me pick the channel on the interface, and I could see it was getting a signal, but with no headphone out on the phone I couldn't hear it. I tried USB earbuds but as soon as they connected, the UM-2 disconnected. Something I haven't found in the phone only allows one or the other, not both, to be active. So I guess I need to stick with my iRig interface until I get a different phone. Very good video, I like how you showed several interfaces and options. I got very close to making it work!
Update: tried again today, it all works now. No bluetooth needed; sound plays from the audio interface into my headphones. Not sure what changed since yesterday, maybe a monitor setting, but sound is very good. Nice to be able to start a GarageBand drummer and play along, using amps and effects in the phone. Also tried connecting an XLR mic and my keyboard (via USB hub) and it worked seamlessly, all at the same time. It's easy to capture ideas now from any source and build into different tracks. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Glad you got this sorted my friend. I would have just suggested unplugging and turning off then re-plugging. Even after years of experience I still come across weird and random occurrences like this.
Thank you for this great video. I had so many questions in getting an audio interface for my iPad. Trouble finding answers online. This video gave me everything I needed to know and more.
Thank you so much Pete! I've been researching to connect an audio interface to my iPad for a while and I wasn't fully satisfied with any of the videos/blogs until I came to yours. Great video!
Great job on an otherwise baffling subject (at least for me). I've recently retired and am called to try and compose some songs with my acoustic guitar. Had no idea how to hook up an interface and all of that stuff. I have an iPhone 8 plus and a recently purchased iPad pro. On top of all that I've been binge watching your channel to try and get up to speed with GarageBand IOS (you do a really good job with your tutorials). Thanks for all of your work and I'l be dipping my toe in the aforementioned waters soon.
I have a mixer with interface and I will like to connect my iPad to the mixer to manage video calls. I tried with that setup but didn't work. Any suggestions?
Hi there. You will need to make sure your interface/mixer is class compliant and you have the genuine Apple Lightning to USB adapter. It can also be difficult to record calls and get just one copy of both sides of the conversation. This is called a “mix minus” if you want t research it more.
My Scarlett 2i2 don’t work on my iPad or my iPhone 11 it makes this noise like a heartbeat and the light flashes where it says 48V And when I turn it off and still makes the same noise but lower
Just started using Scarlett 2i4 yesterday and ran into a similar issue. The order in which you hook up the Scarlett is important. Make sure nothing is plugged into the Scarlett or iPhone. First plug in the iPhone/iPad camera adapter 3 into device and make sure power is connected to it. Then connect the Scarlett to the camera adapter USB port. Make sure phantom power is not on when you connect or you will get a not enough power message. Once connected and powered you can then connect your inputs and use phantom power if needed. These steps need to repeated any time the Scarlett or iPhone/iPad is disconnected. Also, in my case no matter what order I tried (and I’m ocd when it comes to troubleshooting) the Scarlett would not power up properly when connected to a powered usb hub. I’m using a usb 2 Scarlett btw. I’ve read that the 3rd generation may not have drivers installed on the device as 1st and 2nd gen do as well just fyi.
Hey so I did everything you recommended using the Focusrite interface but now for some reason when I play my tracks - the beats I’ll be singing to - they sound all distorted. Usually I play them in the background from my iTunes and I also tried importing them to see if that would fix the issue but they sound terrible. When I disconnect everything they sound normal again so I know it’s not the tracks themselves. Any suggestions?? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Howdy. I’ve replied to this on your other comment asking for a little more information. Where are the sounds you are importing being sourced from? And if you import them and play back are they still sounding distorted by themselves?
Hello , generally the interfaces don’t have an usb in , what I want to say is , I have a blue yeti microphone the cable has an usb plug , I can connect it into my iPhone without use any interface or the power usb , just using the small white hub that you have , works fine , but I would like better quality, so I have been informed that I need an interface , but how to connect my mic on it ? Thank you

Pete, just to confirm this works for me thanks to your explanation and the sound is coming out both sides, not just one as you said might happen. My setup as follows : Ipad Air 2 Scarlett 2i2 Powered USB hub Genuine Apple Camera Adapter Many thanks, John
Thank you so much, I was beginning to think I purchased the wrong device. I didn’t see you use the external power bank with the Focusrite so I’m assuming that’s a no go. Thanks again!
Ah.... yeah, so you’d need one of the newer iRig Pro or HD models that has a standard USB connection as well. Anything designed for Lightning alone won’t work.
Thank you for the video!!! Quick question, i connected my mic to my scarlett 2i2 to the power hub to the adapter to my iphone but im only getting audio in the left side when I record?
Yes, the way two channel audio interfaces work is that they only record audio on the left for channel 1 and the right for channel 2. Recording to something like GarageBand will help with this as you can choose where to pan the audio. If using other apps, you would need to convert the audio in editing using something like AudioShare or LumaFusion on iOS.
Pete Johns thank you! Actually I also saw that on video settings it was set to stereo so yeah I had a mic in the left port. I'm recording video in iPhone so I'll have to try mono next time!
I have 3 questions: Would it work to have a midi keyboard plugged directly into the USB power hub, a USB mic plugged directly into the USB power hub, and then an electric guitar plugged into the interface which is plugged into the USB power hub? Also would garage band allow all 3 to record at the same time? Where would the sound come out of at this point?
Hey there. iOS supports only one audio Inuit and output at a time, plus MIDI as this is data. Check out this video for more info. ruclips.net/video/54XHAYDvHps/видео.html
Hello sir I enjoy your teaching very much I have one cuestión. Can I use focus right liquid fire 56 with an iPad 2008? What kind of an adapter should I use?
This is a really helpful video. Thanks for sharing. A quick question thou, to hear what we are playing (example guitar) we hear it via the phone bluetooth headphone?
Hey there. I use a mixer to play the sounds in my demos. Ordinarily you would donuts plug standard headphones in to the headphone jack in the audio interface.
Hello. Great video. Thank you. Question. Can you also link video for example iglive streams. I’m trying to go from my dj mixer into an interface then into the iPhone.

Thanks for all this info. My interest is much simpler- I simply want to connect a DAC to my iPad for earphones. I’m puzzled why you need the powers hub. Can’t you simply connect the lightning power cable for charging the iPad into the Lightning port of the Apple Camera Kit? Wouldn’t this supply enough power for the USB-powered DAC?
There is always going to be a b of latency if you’re using monitoring via an audio interface. I personally find it pretty low with GarageBand on iPad and iPhone. Http://studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Hey there. I’ve shared details about my setup on my Patreon. studiolivetoday.com/patreon. You could also maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
Does the powered hub charge the iPad while in use? Or do I still need the Apple charger in to the lighting port on the camera kit? Or use the charging cable from Apple to the charging out from the smart power to the lighting input of the Camera kit. I’m trying to keep it efficient. Thanks 🙏
Hey there. You will still need something plugged in if you ant to power the iPad. The Tendak has a dedicated power port and coupled with the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter it works really well. studiolivetoday.com/usb
Hello! my iPhone 11 works with my Scarlett 18i8; however, it only works with inputs 1 & 2 and with a huge issue... It only records inputs 1 & 2 in stereo (input 1 is panned hard left and input 2 is panned hard right). I want to record both inputs in mono so both channels are in the center. Please help. thanks!
That's odd? Perhaps it requires drivers to access the other inputs and therefore not fully class compliant with iOS? ruclips.net/video/K95B2-KfMak/видео.html
Your demonstration was very good as far as it went. What do you do after you connect the everything? You have to have software apps in you iPhone or computer I'm sure. What I was hoping to do was to use my Camera app and video myself playing the keyboard and having the sound directly from the keyboard on the video instead of from the room. I need to disable the iPhone mic somehow. I have an iPhone 11 Max Pro. I have the Behringer 204, and the USB power adapter. I hook it to my iPhone and nothing happens other than I can video but the sound is from the room. What can I do?
Hey hey, thanks so much for your videos, more than helpfull!! I havé an iPad Pro and thé Scarlett 2i2 + 2 mics ATR 2100, when I start to record voices in garage band thé signal is flat! The sound is recorded but flat. Havé you ever seen that? The gain in my input in garage band in this set up is not movable! If you got some tips that would be incredible
Hello Pete, I get to learn from your videos. Could you please help me, I am trying to connect my iPad using everything that you've mentioned but my iPad is not picking up the condenser microphone from the audio interface. ( no input channel has been showing). On IPAD.
Thanks for the video, I got the exact same set up using 2i2 now, but I got a huge problem: shooting videos with my iphone I can only hear it on the left channel when playing back in headphones, any solution? Thank you!
Yup. This is because any 2 channel interface uses stereo so apps that use stereo audio will push audio to just one side. What I do is edit the audio afterwards to make it mono, either in LumaFusion video editor or AudioShare. ruclips.net/video/nu5XwAWps5E/видео.html
Thanks for this😅 .. it led me on the right path. Bought a NI audio 2 for music, love the design. But after seeing this video I realised it wasn't class compliant. I liked it so much I was just going to keep it and buy a mobile version for streaming to iPhone/iPad. Was going to buy the Irig but sold out everywhere. Swapped over to the Roland GO mixer 1st but then upgraded myself to the Roland GoLive Cast. Saw another review saying the app that controls it sucks, so I escaped that one also. Bottom line, I am sending the Audio2 back, and have ordered the Steinberg Ur 22 Mk2 Happy days .. well kind of .. stay safe all🙏
Question for you Rock Steady or Pete. I am thinking of getting the UR22 as well but my mic's have xlr ends. What type of mic inputs are on that thing? I can't tell from the pictures or descriptions. Will my regular mics work on this unit?
Hey there. It works for any app that uses the input and output. The only issue you may have with an Audio interface is that it puts one channel on the left and one of the right, which you would need to fix in editing.
Wow...I wish I would have discovered this video a couple years ago! this setup would be perfect for what I am trying to accomplish. Great content. Killer vid. THANKS.
Hey so I bought an akg p120 and I also bought a 48v phantom power from a company named aokeo on Amazon and I did all the steps in the video but my phone 11 doesn’t bring up a notification showing a microphone was connected any advice???
What are you using to connect to the Lightning port of your iPhone? You’ll need a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter along with a powered interface. studiolivetoday.com/usb
As long as you plug in to A/C power with the USB 3 adapter this will often work, but isn’t as reliable in my experience. I always recommend a powered USB hub for any interfaces that are bus powered as the iPad/iPhone often just doesn’t have enough power.
Very important question for me. Does the update prompt when you first plug the camera cable into the iPad update the entire IOS. I need to use the adaptor but I also have to keep the IOS from like 6 years ago. Thx!
Hmmmm…. Not sure the oldest version that would be supported? I updated mine back on iOS 10/11 so it should still be okay? Http://studiolivetoday.com/usb
hi pete, how to hack our soundcard so we can get more than 2 input channel ? ( my soundcard only have 2 input channel) but i need 2 more input channel 🙏🏻
So will this work without a hitch if I’m using this setup to send stereo output from a mixer into my usb interface into my iPhone 8plus to stream live to Instagram? So whatever sources I may have going into my Yamaha mixer, and then using a single xlr cable or maybe a dual trs to xlr cable to run into the line input on my focusrite solo before sending into my iPhone (which will be streaming live to Instagram)
Yup, I use a similar setup to stream using my phone. An audio interface with stereo line inputs is better, and the only issue you may have using one jack is it may put the audio on just the left or right.
@@PeteJohnsMusic hmm I yes as much after reading through all of the comments and solutions throughout this thread. I wonder if I could get around the issue of sound coming to one side or the other by sending one of the mixer’s outputs through XLR or TRS into the input on the interface and then sending a second output into the instrument input on the interface and sending All that to my iPhone
OMG. I have a PC based recording system and wondered how on earth I was ever going to get hi res lossless through the PC. This has saved me a huge headache. Just using a USB-C to USB-C cable I just plug my iPad into the Steinberg UR-44C USB-C socket and I play straight into the sound system with no PC involved. The UR-44C is mains powered so it's a much simpler process than you had to go through. As soon as the audio interface is connected it takes over. No configuration necessary. Many thanks for sharing. I had no idea about class compliant drivers. Why is this stuff so hard to find?!
Hey there. Yes, it’s a little more involved with iOS devices as you need power - unless you’re using a mains powered device like the UR44. Glad you got it sorted and welcome to the community!
First off... LOVE the videos, they are helping me out so much... Quick question though, if I use a USB 3 adapter would I just be able to plug the lighting cable into it and use that as power? Eliminating a need for a USB power hub?
This will work with some iPhones and iPads but not all. And sometimes you’ll get random “this device uses too much power” errors. This is why I always recommend the powered hub.
Hello, enjoyed your video. I have one question. If you an early iRig or Apogee Jam, how is there an adapter that make them work with an iPhone with lightning input?
Hi Pete, thanks for the tutorial and walk through.. I was wondering, why couldn't you power the APPLE LIGHTNING adapter from there instead of using the Tendak USB power strip? I only have just the Focusrite Scarlette 2i2 Gen 3 to power up.
@@PeteJohnsMusic is there a limit of power that the apple lightning USB adapter isn’t allowing the full 5v @ 3A to be used through that one port? I figured with the included 18w iPad charger it should still be enough to power the iPad while running one usb device. How often has the genuine apple lightning adapter fail on you on running the one usb device?
I haven’t had any significant issues latency personally. If it is an issue you can use the direct monitoring feature on most audio interfaces to help with this.
Hi! Thank you for this, is very useful. I was wondering if the power from the USB gear would be enough to then use a condenser microphone. Is there a way to connect a microphone like that one, through the Scarlett to the Iphone?
Hi Pete, is it possible to not use a powered USB hub and instead simply plug your apple charger into the other side of the lightning to USB adaptor for ac power? Thanks for you video.
Having trouble. Got a Tendak USB 3.0 Hub. Trying to run it on my 12 mini, IOS 17.1.2, with Garageband 2.3.15 (5262). Using an M-Audio Soundcard (Fast Track). And a cheap USB to lightning dongle. Garageband is not picking up the soundcard. Thinking I’ll try the usb to lightning adapter you’re using. It’s worth a try! Thanks for posting!
Hey there. Yeah, sounds like the weak point there might be your Lightning to USB adapter. The genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter is reliable, but others - not so much! studiolivetoday.com/usb
@@PeteJohnsMusic The adapter will have to go on my wishlist for now. Too many bills. I’ve generally had bad experience though getting any headset mic to work through line in connection daisychained to lightning plug on Iphone 12. Apple took away the headphone jack and been trying to get people to switch to mostly bluetooth devices for audio input on iphone 12. It’s like they don’t want us using wired headsets or soundcards anymore. It’s just the built in mic on the iphone or a bluetooth device.

Your videos are miles in front of the rest out there. Thanks for all your help

Hey Pete, your channel rocks! I‘ve been following it for a year now and it helped me a lot, especially with music distribution and ios stuff. Keep on doing what you‘re doing! 🤘
Nice one! Really glad to hear my friend. Thanks for taking the time to reach out.
Hi!
I have a new iPad7 purchased a month ago, on which I use GarageBand connecting my electric guitar to a
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen. audio interface, and this one to the iPad. I can hear myself while playing and/or
recording if I use my headphones on the interface or/on the iPad. But I can't hear my guitar without
headphones, as the iPad's internal speakers stop working. Even if I activate the “monitor” icon in GarageBand,
the iPad doesn't sound. I have tried the two solutions that Apple offers on its website, in the troubleshooting
section, in the section "GarageBand for IOS: Audio is not heard when monitoring an external device" I have
tried both solutions and the problem remains unsolved.
Thanks beforehand
Hey there my friend. So, in my experience once you plug in an audio interface this replaces the audio input and output, so I don’t believe there is a way to do this?
Do you need the lightning cable for it all to work? Can you not go directly from phone to the usb hub with a normal iPhone charger cable?
Hey there. You need the genuine Apple Lightning to USB cable for this setup to work as it enables the creation of a USB Host.
You should thank him for his detailed answer to your question.
Yup. You’ll need to either use the app which came with your interface to make the audio mono, or fix this in editing using something like LumaFusion.
BRO you LITERALLY saved my wallet thank you sooo much
Awesome!! Very glad to hear. 👍😎

in my country there’s no any usb hub that requires power to the wall. is that going to work with my ipad?
It may not provide enough power to run your devices if it is not an A/C powered hub.
@@PeteJohnsMusic ok great, I think I’m gonna go with the base model 8th gen as I’m a noob still. All best, Jon

Can you connect a scarlet2i2 4th gen plug in with an MaonocasterE2?
So when I plug the interface into the iPad I dont get a message on the iPad acknowledging audio device

Hi Pete, very explanatory content again, thx. One question here: how do you cope with recording latency to the GB click?
Hey there. I haven’t experienced a whole lot of latency with this setup. I find it quite low.

Great job on an otherwise baffling subject (at least for me). I've recently retired and am called to try and compose some songs with my acoustic guitar.

Sounds like a power issue? Are you using a powered USB hub? This video might help - ruclips.net/video/gwNqV1W3fPU/видео.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic I am using the power connector on the iPad power cord and plug
@@BadKarma714 did u fix it? I got the same issue
You guys need a POWERED usb hub - it should be self powered.
Thanks so much! After 2+ days of failed attempts your video guided me to a successful connection. Happy thoughts your way!

Does this setup work for the new iPad Pro? I’m using the iRig but it only works with lightning cable
Ah.... yeah, so you’d need one of the newer iRig Pro or HD models that has a standard USB connection as well.

Your demonstration was very good as far as it went. What do you do after you connect the everything? You have to have software apps in you iPhone or computer I'm sure. Yup. Once you connect an external audio interface it will override the internal mic and audio.

Thanks for the video, I got the exact same set up using 2i2 now, but I got a huge problem: shooting videos with my iphone I can only hear it on the left channel when playing back in headphones, any solution? Thank you!

Question for you Rock Steady or Pete. I am thinking of getting the UR22 as well but my mic's have xlr ends. What type of mic inputs are on that thing? I can't tell from the pictures or descriptions. Will my regular mics work on this unit?
Can you use this same set up for the camera so that the external sound set up records the camera audio for a vlog or is this only for audio recording?
Hey there. It works for any app that uses the input and output. The only issue you may have with an Audio interface is that it puts one channel on the left and one of the right, which you would need to fix in editing.

You can use one of the analog headphones jack interfaces with a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. studiolivetoday.com/gear
Hi Pete, thanks for the tutorial and walk through.. I was wondering, why couldn't you power the APPLE LIGHTNING adapter from there instead of using the Tendak USB power strip? I only have just the Focusrite Scarlette 2i2 Gen 3 to power up.
It can work with just the additional power form the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter but the powered hub is always a little more reliable.
Does it have latency. If so do you know what could help that.
I haven’t had any significant issues latency personally. If it is an issue you can use the direct monitoring feature on most audio interfaces to help with this.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thank you for your response.
Hi!
Thank you for this, is very useful.
I was wondering if the power from the USB gear would be enough to then use a condenser microphone. Is there a way to connect a microphone like that one, through the Scarlett to the Iphone?
Yup. Pretty much all interfaces these days have phantom power so will work fine.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you! I tried it and it works perfectly fine. Thank you for this!
Hi Pete, is it possible to not use a powered USB hub and instead simply plug your apple charger into the other side of the lightning to USB adaptor for ac power? Thanks for you video.
This can work for some interfaces sometimes but on my experience isn’t as reliable as a powered USB hub.
Great video thanx!
Behringer U-Phoria works as well, because i need 2 channels? By
Nice one! I hope you get value from the other videos on the channel and consider subscribing if you haven’t already. 👍
Peter my friend maybe you can solve my issue I have the mixpre 6 ii and a iPad 6th none USB c will the connection camera kit work with the mixpre 6 ii also thanks again for the great content.
Is you’re interface class compliant, meaning it can operate without any drivers or software? ruclips.net/video/K95B2-KfMak/видео.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic yes it is my friend .
