Drive train of the Plaid (battery and especially motors) are still years ahead of the others, for example Plaid has those crazy carbon sleeved rotors which basically do not lose power with the speed increase, co engineered with spaceX apparently, so even with 2 speed gearbox and more power, (from what I've seen so far) Porsche will still be slower especially as the speed increases >200kmh (you can search Plaid power curve to see why). Still there's absolutely no denying that the Taycan GT Ring result is astonishing but with 200k apart from Model S, its hardly even seen as a competitor... I would also say that there's no denying which one is a better overall car between the two
There is nothing exactly special about tesla powertrain, pretty basic motors and inverters apart from that strange desicion to use carbon sleeve in an IPM.
The Taycan maybe the much better car from an engineering perspective as well as track performance wise but still, the Tesla is a lot cheaper, not too bad and almost as fast in a straight line….
Useless video! Also the Plaid's torque is rated at 1420NM and for fairness you should put a disclaimer for the peak Porsche power. Under normal conditions it's 777hp. The absolute peak power is achieved for 2 seconds and the rest 1000ish hp for 8 seconds total. After that power will drop to 777hp.
What all these videos fail to show is how repeatable the performance is: Tesla is definitely ahead in terms of pure numbers, and some of the technology is also still ahead, but can the performance be repeated lap after lap? If not (see latest M3P) then one has to take into account if they really intend to use this on the track. On the public road, it's more about stability at high speed and comfort, as well as luxurt and technology, and price. A single drag race isn't going to clarify any of the points above.
That's like saying it's pointless to have a car do 1.3ga when 1.0x is more than enough for moat drivers. Might as well buy a Plaid and put carbon brakes on it and call it a day.
@@TB-vb3ovnah, but usually when you do hit that speed. Its nice if the car handles well. Its also nice if the car looks good and is well built. Tesla is miles away from luxury.

@starkillerchardin3050 Yawn a lot of lies and I would hope it had more features being it cost 3x the price. Let's see what Tesla has on it...The Plaid is slightly quicker 9.2 va 9.4 quarter mile, a lot more room, a better sounding sound sytem and better UI and has access to the Tesla super charger network. That's all a fact.
The reason is, that the Porsche can do that performance all Night Long. The Tesla? Well, its more like a premature ejaculation. One shot and Game over.
Slower? It's fucking raining. You saw that, right? And the Porsche not really have more hp. And this Porsche, as any other, do these 0-200km/h times over and over again, now. No waiting minutes for special "Gepard" mode...And if you give them a track with just 1 curve, the Tesla will be even more destroyed, than it already is. Seriously, these are 2 totally different cars. It's a shame for Porsche, that somebody seriously compare it to a Tesla. Performance-wise, ok, but that's it. Quality, engineering, workmanship, Race track, Tesla can say "Goodbye". Take a look for tests, what an excellent car the Turbo GT is. I'm not a fan of electric cars, but this Porsche is not comparable to Tesla, no matter what it costs.
Its not urbo gt,it is turbo s with 939 bhp, please be more accurate
and how do you know it's not the Turbo *1034hp GT in this video?
@@nomansland120 i saw this exact video with 7.9 sec to 200 kph with name of turbo s,turbo gt does it in sub 7 seconds

Almost as fast as the soccermom Plaid in the wet.
So turn on "sport + mode".
Its not the Turbo GT with 1108 but the Turbo s with 939 hp AND THE PORSCH IS ON THE VERY VERY WET TARMAC...
Here’s a better representation and typical run of the Plaid on the street.

1108 hp slow G80 with 720 hp.
you forgot to turn off "normal mode"

Lets be honest 99 percent of those wont ne driving at such speeds except totally useless to be that fast
