Guitar Lesson: How To Play The Meat Puppets' Lake Of Fire - Nirvana Unplugged Style

- I have always wanted to learn this epic song, Lake of Fire (by the Meat Puppets but as performed by Nirvana, of course) on the guitar! Well, now I have and now you can too :) It's a lot simpler than I had thought, but no less satisfying for it. You'll find a big long solo discussion in the second half of the video as well.

@@RyanLendt no... thank you. Sometimes I’ll be working out a song and get stuck on n a part, jump on youtube, have a quick search, look for your channel and bingo, problem solved. There’s always some weird key change that gets me, and you always cover it quickly and easily. Like in this song.
I used to insist on watching guitar lessons with tabs displayed, I struggled anyway (only picked up guitar October last year) .
Now that I found this channel, tabs are no longer necessary, there is no struggle. Everything is so well shown and explained, truly amazing, pleasure to learn. 100K subs approaching, I'm glad to be part of this. I salute you Sir!

Just recapping and after playing for almost a year I found that if you stay at the top half of the strings during the verse and pretend to be high,you'll pretty much nail it.

Another great lesson! A an aside i saw a quarantine video of Lisa Loeb's, and she had a Kermie in the shot. As an aside to the aside the woman bathes in blood
ok that's weird. But I watched one of hers as well and I was seriously impressed about how that one song that's her most popular one is played. Someone requested it a couple years ago and I didn't pay it much heed (wait, was it you?) but I'm paying it a bit more heed now!

Taking from a few songs is quite relevant. Mike McCready was quick to disclaim creative credit for the solo from Alive, saying he basically "copied Ace Frehley's solo from 'She', which was copied from Robby Krieger's solo in The Doors' 'Five to One'." Lesson founded santastic!

Ryan, I know you’re an STP fan but have you ever heard of a band called Talk Show? They were basically the members of STP but with a different singer back in 1997. They didn’t last long but put out a good single called “hello hello”. Check it out.
funny thing about that... I had a summer camp group who wrote and recorded a silly song about dogs taking over the world or something and we recorded it and put it up on spotify (i've since taken it down) under the band name they picked for themselves... wait for it... Talk Show. I had no idea that that had anything to do with STP (neither did they) and I was befuddled for years about why it was getting many many plays. It literally sat there as an album published by the band you're referring to on their spotify page for years. Nobody ever called or emailed to threaten jail time hehe, but many many people must have been very very confused because it was obviously a haphazard effort by a group of enthusiastic but terrible 11 year olds.

I was 14, our kids have no idea what their missing out on by actually going to see people instead of messaging them (maybe not drive drunk at 14, but the rest is good times lol). Reznor's Hurt was always bad ass, Cash gave it a different feel that was good but I'm a little nin bias.

The riff is basically Smells like teen spirit, with the same chords but a different order
SLTS is F, Bb, G#, C#
@@matthewhall2320 dude, same chords as lake of fire just the order isn't the same
Savin Petru not sure what you’re seeing here, but this uses G and C. Smells like teen spirit uses G# and C#. And that’s just the chord shapes described in standard tuning. Lake of fire is down a half steep so it’s actually F# and B.
