Every time I learn a Foo Fighters tune, I think about the Dave Grohl interview where he explains how he learned guitar by treating the fretboard as a drum kit. Very interesting.
Strumming hand is def underrated in the guitar world! Down down up up on E Chord then you slide ring finger to the 6 fret and bar the rest on 4th fret with pointer... your right hand is in position to go down up down up repeatedly and just add hammer on's accordingly on the 7th(pinky) and 5th(pointer) fret of G string... On every third stroke there's a hammer on so the strumming direction changes each time too. As follows: Down, up, *down with pinky finger, up, down, *up with pinky finger, down, up, *down with pointer finger, *up with pointer finger again... Thats how I was taught almost identical to this video, hope the detail helps!!
Ok so I just found this channel like 10 minutes ago. I like it so much that I'm watching his videos without even trying to play the songs on the guitar (because it's 3 AM and I'd wake up my family). I just love his positivity and energy, keep it up bro
Thanks so much for finding me Mega Rockstar, and for inviting me into your home at 3AM :) I'll be excited to hear how it goes with a guitar in your hand
@@RyanLendt dude I started actually playing the songs you teach and damn it was really helpful. Thanks a lot for all the work you put into teaching us!
Dude you are awesome! I have been watching the Howard stern version over and over trying to figure out one little part where the focus was on Dave and not the guitar. It was driving me crazy keeping me up at night! I can sleep now. Thank you Ryan Lendt you are my hero😉
@@rageagainsthememe71 Ryan is the best teacher on RUclips hands down his approach and humor is second to none! There aren't too many tutorials out there where a person can watch the video and walk away being able to play the entire song in either a simplified manner or more correct actual way the artist plays the song. He is really good at filling in holes that others are leaving out or playing wrong. I just wish Ryan would look at me in his videos instead of my wife who is usually standing behind me and slightly to the left🤔
Not only thank you for all the awesome tutorials you present but also the school boy smile you put on my face like I was in 1st grade hearing my first diarrhea joke. You're amazing. You've definitely evolved in a positive way with you tutorials. Not to take away from the refreshing exuberance of your early tabs with all the Pearl Jam videos.
Just so ya know... when I search for a lesson for a song, as you know there are a lot of guys who teach it but I now choose your videos first. First, your videos are usually more detailed. 2. They are usually more accurate. 3. They are DEFINITELY more entertaining! I just noticed this is the acoustic version. I hope you have the electric version.
I am grateful for you. Playing like crazy. I feel like people like think I’m nuts. And they would be right. Because I am nuts. Love your channel dude. You are amazing.
Iam so glad you made this video, the way he did it in the HSS is the best version I've ever heard...just shows how talented Dave is...cause the way he did it was just awe...Thanks for the song choice and that version...
thanks for the great request and the tip robert - had you not mentioned the howard stern show to me I would have missed at least 3 really cool things. You saved the day!
Just wanted to say how useful and awesome this tutorial still is. Absolutely love all the different variations, I keep coming back to this video and trying the different chords to see which I like best. Perfect tutorial for a perfect song, much appreciated 🤍
Ryan, thank you so much for making this video. I remember listening to this live and it was definitely a reason why I wanted to learn the acoustic guitar. I love this lesson.

you put quite the effort to give us a lot of subtle information you don't get from tabs or other youtubers, thank you! overwhelmingly underrated and awesome teacher. enjoyed alot and insta subbed
Great stuff, I already do that one but will definitely layer some of the alternate chords shape and little things you do in there, Faaabulous darling(said with a british accent)!
I already like your tut for Silverchair's Tomorrow - but this one even more. Strumming it this way or the other ... or however it floats your boat. Love it - thank you 👍🤠

Still working on this one. Super happy that you gave so many good choices of various difficulties. You are an amazing teacher.

That c# minor with the little hammer ons is tricky! Typical Dave treating the guitar like a drum kit! Great lesson as always mate💪🤙🍻
that Dave. Cheers to you CKM always nice to hear from you.
Oh I actually had the easiest time with that and a hard time with the rest
