Great video! I have the same dishwasher that had the exact same problem. Before I had a chance to see your video, my wife called a "repair man" to look at it. After an $82 visit, his recommendation was to get a new dishwasher. Oh hell no. Before spending hundreds more, I searched online for a possible solution and found your video. I found a new touchpad on ebay for $75. It arrived, I installed it easily thanks to your video, and bam! Dishwasher works like new. Many thanks!

I have the exact same dishwasher and exact same problem. I also just had a repair guy come and he told us the same thing, buy a new dishwasher. We just sold our house and are moving in 2 weeks. I reallllllly don’t want to buy a new one. The link to purchase the part brings me to something different. Any suggestions? Thank you for the easy fix!

However, inflation and the age of this model means the part price is higher and harder to find. We paid $195. Still cheaper than a new dishwasher and super easy to do for this 45 year old mom. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for the detailed video. One of the key points that stood out for me in this video is, when the patch cable is reattached to the computer panel, the first pin (on our side) should be left open.

I just looked my part up for my Maytag key pad and it's like 200 to 300 dollars.....it's cheaper me to just get a new dishwasher for that price.....I have the Maytag legacy series quiet series 300....very expensive part

You might try unplugging the ribbon cable from the controller and cleaning the end if it with a pencil eraser and then plug it back in to see if it works 👍

Sorry to be a bother, but you're a fairly recent comment. Any chance you can share where you found the part?
Mine has a similar issue, but I think it needs a different fix. My buttons work fine, but In my case after each cycle it just doesn't turn on, I press the button, but nothing happens.
But I sort of recognized the behavior from building my own computers, so I went to my electrical panel, I pulled the breaker, walked back in and behold, it worked. Problem is I have to do it every time I need to do a load.
My thinking is that the board is defective in some way, maybe repairable, maybe not, but the hillbilly solution would be to insert a switch on the electrical line (I'll pull the breaker first, no worries) so I don't have to go outside every time I have to wash dishes.
Thank you for giving me an idea of what is behind the panel though. That's always helpful so one doesn't forget to unscrew something and breaks the panel in pieces.
Any ideas of what could be wrong that gets fixed by a reboot?
It could be the heating element is causing the problem because it fires up at the end of the cycle and that’s when it had problems. Maybe a new heating element will help?

I have the same dishwasher. In my case the start button flashes 3 times. When it does that I know I have to turn the breaker off/on, then it starts and runs normally. Does this sound like I need a new keyboard? Thanks

I have the mbd4709awb4 maytag. You have the best video I've watched. I'm pretty convinced its my control panel that needs replacing but still concerned it may be the actual control board. Is there a way to know for sure so I don't waste $$$ on a panel for nothing? Also, I found Parts dr to be the best 👍. Id definitely be buying there.
PS: no buttons light (except for high temp, heat dry, n sanitize) or work. The left side cycle buttons haven't worked for awhile, btw. So to turn it on you had to push start (default ran on 'normal'). Now can't even do that.

I’m confused, this video u show to replace the whole front ( keypad) not the computer.... and I saw another video of yours you replaced the computer not the front panel.... so how do I know what is the Wright part to replace with knowing that the start / cancel are only two not working.. if u have Answr for me that would be highly appreciated...

You may have a blown fuse on the controller located behind the control panel.

I have had to replace mine twice in a little over 8 years. The failure point on mine was a poorly made ribbon cable on the touch pad both times. Still cheaper than a new dishwasher.
Thanks. I bought the control panel through Amazon. Now, It works well. Only down point is that it is not easy to find same color panel board with dish washer.
@@johnyoungheankim8241 You're right. I need black and parts dr has a reasonable price but black is out of stock. Other sites have black but at $40-50 more (for any colors). I'll just be a decor trend setter buying white n save that 50 bucks.

FYI, Maytag no longer carries the touch panel on our dishwasher. Maytag used to be known for continuing to support their appliances for the long term. No more. My refrigerator, same problem. Check out replacement parts webpage. Pick something. There's a whole bunch of something like, "this part is no longer available from our supplier". IE, it's the "supplier's" fault. I did not buy a dishwasher from Maytag's "supplier". I did not buy a refrigerator from Maytag's "supplier". I bought appliances from Maytag. And Maytag is not ensuring availability of replacement parts. Probably not past warranty? No sign this is covid related / temporary. Just too bad for you. It's our "supplier's" fault. Will be buying a dishwasher. NOT a Maytag.

I've got all the buttons lighting up except for the delay, it's just not starting, do you think it's still shorted?
All buttons lit but no action, probably need to replace the touch pad
It's a little unclear from the video, did you replace the circuit board too?
I have replaced the touch pad twice on mine in 8 years. The failure point is a poorly make ribbon cable on the touch pad. The circuit board did not need replacement on mine.
this doesnt mention the one simple thing that is often the issues with these, the $8.00 fuse.
