You are a miracle worker I've been trying for months on end to figure out how to get those front wheels off to clean the hair all caught up in them. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thanks a lot. I was picking at the lint with needle nose pliers for along time and getting no where. When the wheels fill up, they stop spinning and make it very difficult to maneuver. I had no idea they just pop up like that. Much appreciated.
For the v11 Animal, there are just the 2 small wheels in the front. They have a recessed pin, but it is metal (thankfully). Also, no alignment tab. Removal is just as you showed here, pry under exposed side with small screwdriver (had to pry a little harder than I was comfortable, but nothing broke) and pull out with needle nosed pliers. Just did it and now my vacuum head is clean again! Thanks! Crazy how hard it still is to find these instructions.
You saved my life and I can confirm same thing works with different models. I was having the issue with the laser one, but principle is the same, despite there’s no plastic tab, just the metal cylinder. Shame on Dyson, these should be their instructions.
Thank you so much for this video! The right wheel on my vacuum cleaner had been stuck for almost a year lol. I even stopped using it. I'm so glad you posted this. It's a great video
I did that once with the laser head but its very delicate, so next time to clean the small rollers I used a stanley cutter, and cut the sticked hair meanwhile turning the rollers with my finger. It worked and dont risk to damage the plastic. At the end for me is an opportunity area for @dyson designers
Good explanation, but I would NOT be able to do that, i did just purcase a v8 and already after ONE vacuum I had hair on the small weels, SHOULD I RETURN THIS ANIMAL?
Hello, do you know where i can find a spare motorised floor tool for the DC44 version? Later versions have a plastic insert in the middle of the pin socket that prevents me from inserting them into the vacuum cleaner.... Thanks!
I have a new dyson and popping out doesn't describe it. I used a razor knife a shaved the slots just a little bigger and now the shafts come out but. I think it is a failed technology. I have cats and the wheels get packed after one cleaning. I am looking for an alternative, like skid pads.
Massive design flaw by Dyson can't believe they don't have a formal means of cleaning these wheels. Popping them out by this method is surely going to distort & break the wheel housings after not too long
It's really strange. My Roomba wheels are made to pop out for cleaning. The Dyson wheels should be like that. Maybe Dyson engineers could take a look at iRobot products.
Bless you!!! Everyone else skips over this part. And it’s one of the most important places to clean. Thanks again great job.

Thanks dude, helped me out a ton, you guys can skip to 3:30 mins if you're looking for the tiny wheels bit
Sorry I get a little wordy. Yes by all means skip ahead if it helps.
@@williambronson6541 no offence intended, really appreciate the video

Great. Glad to hear it.

Glad it helped!
Thanks so much for filming this!!
Needed to confirm before trying it on my brush
Thanks for the tip!! Mine is full of hair lol it was bothering me so bad
Thank you!! My shark vertex has the tiny wheels and you probably saved me an hour by telling them how they pop out. Took 30 seconds.
How do you get the other back wheel out? Thank you.
Thank you!! I have a Shark and the tiny wheels fill with hair but I didn’t know how to get them cleaned!
Great video. Audio was clear, the video angles were good. I couldn't find this info anywhere else.
Glad it was helpful! I was just getting my feet wet doing videos.
This also works for Akitas V8 vacuum cleaner. Thank You.
Thanks for this, sorted the small wheel jammed on the Dyson!
Awesome! I was hoping it would help someone
Thank you, sir! This helped so much, those wheels are such a nuisance!
Glad it helped! I feel the same way :)
Thanks! Had to replace a broken wheel & wasn't sure if I was going to snap it or not!
need to do the same how did it go?
@@chuckgreenwood6259 it's still working! But had to also use my existing pin as the one sent was too short 🙂
What about the larger wheels (2) on the same head. How do you remove them to clean and loosen them?
nice! do u have a version for the fluffy head of the v8
No I'm sorry I do not

Sorry for the late response. I hope it worked out. Yes I would have returned it if I couldn't clean them out.
thank you so much. youre my life saviour!
If you can post a video for how to clean the wheel on Dyson V8, that would be really appreciated!
Thanks dude
Thanks🎉

No idea but I will look around.
You’re actually prying it up wrong. Pry it up from the END towards the wheel and it pops up quickly. You also have less chance of breaking it.
Thanks alot
Very helpful. Thank you
You're welcome!

Make sure to complain to the company. They need to know everyone who is not happy with this.
Thanks William ! But too scared to break the wheels so won’t do this. Too fragile
Actually not too fragile. It seems to be very bendable plastic. Just go slow and easy.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
one of dyson's biggest design flaws is those little wheels. mine get clogged up with hair right away and stop turning.
Omg thanks!!
like button smashed
Massive design flaw by Dyson can't believe they don't have a formal means of cleaning these wheels. Popping them out by this method is surely going to distort & break the wheel housings after not too long
they are not metal, probably because they break, eventually.
It's really strange. My Roomba wheels are made to pop out for cleaning. The Dyson wheels should be like that. Maybe Dyson engineers could take a look at iRobot products.
But you ruin the plastic you lean on when doing this way
How about you don't waste my time showing me how to clean everything else. The title is for to clean the little wheels.
