I had pulled the entire head apart, found the part with the issue, couldn't get it to move freely no matter how much WD40 I soaked it in. Couldn't find a replacement head in stock. Almost gave up and nearly bought a new vaccum. Then I find this video. "There is a T8 torx in here", 'no way that works' I say. BOOM. All comes apart with some pulling, miles of my long thick hair in there. Put it back together, runs good as new. Thank you so much! Only video on RUclips that helped.

Spot On - fixed my brush not spinning; the problem was that the two female contacts had built up a coating of solidified dirt inside them so that the pins in the extension tube or beater head went in, but did not make electrical contact. It was pretty tough to shift as well, but now it works perfectly. Thank you!

Thank you so much! You saved me from throwing out my V6 and having to buy a new vacuum. The vacuum repair shop told me the electrical problem couldn’t be fixed. I brought it back home, watched this video, dismantled the black thing behind the brush on the motor head, cleaned the plug of hair and used a can of compressed air on all the electrical contacts. It works just like new!!! Excellent video!

The electrical contacts in the main section were our cause of frustration! Amazing guidance, thank you, saved us from taking it to a repair shop, had no idea re the contacts and the wire going round the dust collection bin.

DUDE. You just saved me hundreds of dollars. I was literally shopping for a new vacuum and bummed that our dyson had crapped out after 5 years. I’ve even taken it apart and cleaned it a dozens times over the years. But I’ve never done the piece behind the brush. The thing works like it did when it was brand new. So grateful for this video

Yes, it's working again! Realized it was an electrical issue and you identified it. The fix? Lightly emery-boarding the contacts on the body. Thanks for the tip! This Dyson's been through a lot. Ironically, it stopped working right after I washed the HEPA filter, so some people think the cleaning led to the breakdown - an evil strange coincidence!

It worked!!! The black spindle behind the brush bar was the culprit - all cleaned and sorted, working brilliantly again. Buying a set of £7.99 torx screwdrivers is infinitely preferable to £57.99 for a new head! Thank you so much! Good job!

So Iʻve got two heads; one I bought as a replacement. As of this morning neither one of the heads worked. I found someone elseʻs video and took the little spinny things off both of the heads, cleaned out the hair -- massively tangled up in there -- put the spinny things back on. One head worked fine; I was able to vacuum my carpet -- yay!!! The other one did not work. I know itʻs not the brush bar; I played around with switching the brush bars in the two heads, and it doesnʻt matter which brush bar I use. Itʻs not the hand-held piece; Iʻve cleaned that, cleaned the contacts on the tube and the hand-held piece and the heads. What else could it be?! The one head works good as new; the other one still does not turn. It did turn for a second or two, then stopped.

Back again for a full service - top and bottom. This time the trigger got stuck in the "on" position. I found a video to take the battery off and get inside where the trigger is. Found some little broken pieces and once they fell out, everything seems good to go. I wish you'd made a video on how to take of the battery and get into that chamber. I trust how you take care of the machine. I don't know if the little bits were broken before I took the battery out or if I broke it in the process. Hope you're still watching your channel. I bookmarked this video and your other on cleaning the cyclones on a V6. Really enjoy your tutorials and I watch and pause and just follow along. Soooooo helpful! THANK YOU AGAIN!

Really helpful - thank you. I had cleaned the head, cleaned the contacts, but for me the key was the torx head screw inside the spindle. I couldn't see any hair externally but when I removed the spindle, there was an incredible amount hair wrapped underneath that was preventing the spindle from working correctly. Once this was removed everything started working correctly.

Thank you so much! My motor head was spinning intermittently so I checked all the electrical connections in sections and concluded that the fault was with the spinning mechanism. Just like you mentioned, there was a lot of hair wound up behind the black spinner. I couldn’t believe how much was in there! I used some tweezers to get them all out and tested it and voila! Good as new!

  • @chino646
    @chino646 2 месяца назад +1

Answer: Mine got wet when cleaning spin head which caused scale corrosion on the circuit board that controls the electric motor inside what makes that brush actually spin when powered w clean connections. Beyond cleaning lint, much further disassembly of screws was needed until the spinnhead circuit board could be exposed. A Qtip in wd-40 or T9 effectively cleaned and lubed board, removing corrosion. Reassemble, works perfect.

09:40... Yep this was the problem. I have 2 spinning brush heads and neither worked so I knew that wasn't the issue. Sure enough, a piece of lint got lodged between the contacts on the back of the collection drum after the last emptying. Once removed both heads are working again. Major time saver tracking down the problem. Thanks, M8!!

This was the best tutorial I have found and I have been able to do a complete service on the machine As you said, it is now like having a new machine. In my case as well, it was hair wound around behind the black driving bush pin - I was quite shocked how much was in there chugging it up but I also cleaned up the contacts and it all works really well - thank you very much. I’m more than a little surprised none of this is on the troubleshooting sections or FAQs of the Dyson website - hmmm…..

Outstanding tip to find and clean the canister contact points. I did everything that all the other RUclipsrs suggested and it still did not work. Stampy's secret fix saved me a lot of money (and Dyson's reputation with me). And Stampy - Yes - every time I touch it (pick it up, empty, change heads) it goes off and scares the **** out of me.I think that, like a gun, it needs a safety! Thanks for your help.

After cleaning the brush bar, it still wouldn't spin smoothly - just sputtered. Tried your short cut connecting the handle end to the brush end without the pole. IT WORKED! Thanks so much! Tried all the usual fixes, but as two different heads weren't rotating I knew it had to be electrical rather than a hair clog. Exactly as you said, it was a bit of fluff up behind the bin that was stubborn enough to stay there even after blowing it all over. Pulled it out and all working again.😊

I’ve just gotten a V7 Animal as a gift. I got it all charged up and vacuumed the carpet in my office. After about 45 seconds of use, the brush bar stopped spinning. The carpet wasn’t even dirty, there was hardly any dust or hair in the bin, nothing physically stopping the bar from turning. I attached the smaller motorized head to the tube and it spun perfectly, so clearly my issue is with the large brush head. But with less than a minute of use, there is simply no way there is dust or hair interfering with the contacts. I think there’s probably an internal issue with this specific head.

Thank you for the tips. I just fixed my Motörhead by looking at the connections at the canister. One connector slid to the side so very little connection. I forced it back in place and it works like day 1. 👍🙌🏻🙌🏻

Thanks man. Just hearing the reminder, “clean everywhere”. Cleaned where the brush attaches inside the attachment. Works well again. 😊

My thanks, as well, mate. I had already followed most of the step with the Dyson support folds EXCEPT taking off the little black drive spindle. Mine is just a pressure fit and doesn't require a torx driver - it pries off easily with pliers. Inside was a thick compacted cylinder of hair! Once I removed that, it works like new! I had a new head on back order from Dyson. Just saved $125 and have a functional tool. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just purchased an aftermarket replacement power roller brush on Amazon yesterday because of this issue, but something told me to check out videos on RUclips on how to troubleshoot the OEM roller brush not spinning, and I found you! Long story short, I followed your guidance, and VIOLA! My roller brush works perfectly. My issue wasn't an electrical connection; it was a hair clog around the black stem I removed as per your instructions, but yeah, it works perfect now. 👍👍 Needless to say I will be returning the aftermarket roller brush.

Dude! I’ve matched millions of videos and yours is the only one that’s shows the dust at the top part of the unit!! Awesome!!

Thank you!!! You saved my day. It was the unscrewing the knob that moves the roller that worked for me. So much hair stuck in there! Thank you!

This was a great help. I’d tried everything else and removed what bits I could see to clean etc but I didn’t know about the connections!! It worked, I also realised the black rubber bit around the cylinder was meant to have bristles! 🤣🤣. Prefer a new brush head. Thanks 🙏

Thank you, I followed your easy instructions, it spins beautifully now. It was the connection at the motor head.
I’m an expert now, thanks to you, best wishes to you

Bravo. I changed the battery and it did not work. Cleaned the connections as you recommended. Works now. Thanks

Thank you! Per your video, I cleaned the connection on the canister and on the main body. Voila, the brush now moves again! Brilliant. There was not much fuzzy dirt on the connection, but apparently it was enough to stop the electrical connection.

Being a mechanic I use my problem solving skills to learn all you mention before watching but having checked all this before I came to you tube my problem is where it works for a few seconds and then stops until I stop and disconnect/reconnect and works for a few seconds again and stops.
I think it’s either the hole that’s in the flexible tube that’s lowering the back pressure. This load on motor or it’s the software on the esc that controls the brush motor.

We have the DC39 cleaner, that head needs a T6h driver to remove the black twisted spindle. 'h' being one with a hole in the middle of the tork. Great advice though - thanks! Dyson have big design faults like this but they are generally easily repaired, that's the main thing.

Thank you so much. Your killer tip really worked! Removing the spinning mechanism with a t8 Torx screwdriving revealed a lot of hair stopping it from moving freely. This was not visible or accessible without removing the part. Now working like a dream.

Greetings from New York City. Thank you! I have an older Dyson stick V6 and my brush actually has a motor underneath or inside the roller head. When you remove the roller, there is another long piece that I assume holds that motor for the roller. I did all the cleaning and nothing. Then you mentioned to take off the canister that holds the dirt and pointed to the contacts by the handle. I blew some canned air into there and also wiped down the ridiculously small contacts on the back of the canister and it did the trick! Thanks again.
