Judy, you have grown in your skills hosting BTS with The Walton's. You are a very good interviewer, among the best since the inception of talk shows. Unfortunately, I'm of an age where I can recall pre-Dick Cavett though I'd have to research people's names. You are among the most elegant, calm, mannered hosts! I am very sorry, Martha, for the loss of your son; the ultimate tragedy for any parent and not one easily overcome. It's sad so very many people in our country and around the globe have endured domestic violence and sexual abuse. More and more people every day it seems are stepping from the shadows to tell their stories and seek justice to somehow reclaim their life! I loved Little Joe/Michael Landon from Bonanza a Sunday evening awaited event in my childhood. He was just so very handsome and charming! I have watched only a few seasons of LHOP recently. I burst out crying during the episode the children were on the runaway train and Pa/Michael/Little Joe climbed to the top of the train car running from car to car ~ it was just so old timey Hollywood Western where Gabby Hayes always showed up in a few scenes! Truly loved Michael Landon. I wrote a short story ~ more of a prose poem that didn't meet with publication and I have since lost the story entirely. The title was: Magnify the Glory. Martha, you are rising above your personal difficulties and doing just that: Magnifying the Glory that is simply daily life and the people we're given to love. Your work is brilliant. Judy, your series is continuing to evolve into something grand!
Thank you so very much, Martha for sharing with us Walton's fans and Judy for facilitating this wonderful glimpse into the lives of the actors and all who helped create Earl Hamner's vision. Blessings and love to Walton's everywhere ~ when I write that I include us fans as kind of extended relatives and neighbors of The Walton's ~ "Squatters rights of the heart!" (I think that's from Robert Frost, I could be wrong.) ❤💐🙏🕊️

I admire Martha's "resilience and restoration" stance. I was reading Viktor Frankel's book on "The Meaning of Life" this morning and was struck with the similarity. The search for meaning and purpose is the thing: the higher rung of self-actualization is a byproduct of that. And she is living it. Kuddos for Martha.

This was stellar, Judy. Martha is not just a survivor she is a thriver. I did get the website and will try to reach out to her through that venue. In the first part of this she said something which was life transforming for me in the way I view the abuse I had suffered. I hope I get the chance to thank her. Like her, I grew up in a family where you did what you were told and there was to be no refusal. Like her, I suffered; after much therapy and hearing what she said, I now know the abuse was not my fault. This, for me, has been the most healing interview you have done and I know that was not the original intent by you. So, I doubly thank you for this. I am free at last and she helped. Coincidently, my given first name was Martha ; only, I changed it due to the abuse. Kudos to her for keeping it. Thanks, Judy.

What a lovely surprise, Judy, to have the privilege of listening to your conversation with the beautiful, courageous, articulate Martha Nix! THANK YOU to you BOTH.❤ I must say, prior to hearing "directly " from Martha, I had read an interview of hers where she shared her tragic experience with sexual abuse, as a child. 😢 I had ALSO read about the similar plights of childhood actors, Alison Angrim and Todd Bridges! (Danny Bonaduce was also being physically abused during his stint on the Partridge Family, I believe. ) I remember doing the math, so to speak, and realizing that Martha, Alison, and Todd, all of whom are about the same age, were all doing their work on the 2 most wholesome shows on-air in the 70s - The Waltons and Little House - at the same time they were experiencing the unimaginable. So, here were these beautiful, intelligent, talented children - going to work regularly on these hugely popular shows, surrounded by caring people who had NO IDEA what was happening in their lives.😢 We, the audience, certainly had NO CLUE. 😞 I thought it was remarkable to hear that it was Alison who really reached out to Martha, during the filming of LHOTP! Well... nothing can be done about the past - sadly- but thank God Martha- and others - NOW have their VOICE - and are using it/them to help other victims. 🙏♥️ After hearing from Martha...I am so sorry - for her little heart- that the characters of Serena and Jeffrey were not brought back. I'm glad that she has remained resilient throughout her challenging journey and am HONORED to have had the opportunity to hear from her today! God BLESS her...and you, Judy! 😊❤❤❤ P.S. "Oceans" by Hillsong Worship is the ringtone on my cellphone. Amazing song!🎶🎶🌊🙏🙌♥️

In addition to having had to survive those horrific crimes against her as a child, how tragic that she lost her son! And, yet Miss Nix made an excellent analogy of how 'The Waltons' gave refuge to Serena and Jeffrey from their own drunken abusive male parent and loved them unconditionally- even with their understandably chaotic edges and became their new larger family. And nice that she has done her best to help others who also have had to endure abuse and crimes and helped them learn how to relearn purpose in their own lives as she has done in hers. Thank you so much for letting her share her story with us!

Oh my, what a gloriously purposeful life!! I am so very moved by Ms. Nix' conquering Spirit (notice the capital letter in the word Spirit...denoting God, our creator), having overcome and having made a terrible experience into such a valuable and life changing ministry! The first gripping comment she made was that she heard God say that He had given her life and who was she to take it away! Oh my soul, how very true...we are His servants and , wow, how true...who are we to take away His creation! We are no one outside of Him!! I am so moved by her grasp on the reality of life and for her to turn such tragedy into such triumph!! For her to have lost a son and for her to make such good of of it! It's so hard to comprehend how adults can do this to children and how sad and confusing when you are a child in Hollywood. I'm thankful for Martha's bravery and fearlessness to speak out and tell her story. Losing a son as well, turning so much pain into good, and thankfully hearing God's voice tell her to "live." He is using Martha to write an inspiring story of hope. Much love to her. ox P.S. I played the role of Patsy Brimmer (Debbie Gunn or Deborah Tracey Hewitt) and I was so thankful for my experience on set. So much of my life, (I am realizing later in life), was eclectic and surreal. As an immigrant it was so strange for my family at home and for us. The way I got into acting also unusual. The Waltons confirmed my deep interest in people, stories, and how everything was filmed. It sealed a visual sense I had for later on in life, becoming a professional photographer and now a writer. I loved being a part of something so iconic that has helped people along the way through their own life stories and grief. I joined the online forum a few years ago and a FB page and have met many wonderful people with testimonies to how much The Waltons meant to them, ..even saved them.

Also loved watching Little House. I probably at the time did not realize it was Martha (Serena) from the Walton's. Glad she did have some people that did look out for her. Sad for the ones that didn't for her best interest.

I remember her from these shows, mostly the Walton's and how good she was in Safe At Home. Such a gifted and pretty little actress, it's so tragic she had to go thru that turmoil and abuse. She was putting on some weight, but had a real future in her career, to be blackballed and lose her connections to the industry she loved for taking her own part when, apparently, no one else really helped her. It is so obvious how bright she is too; well, I'm very glad to see she recovered her self-image and has handled life like a real trooper. God bless, Martha.

Wow. In a world like we have today where folks like to play the victim, it is so inspiring to see someone overcome having been a victim for real, and make that the focus of her life. She made a choice to recover and be resilient. Martha has certainly been through a lot, but my goodness she is a survivor who is making a difference. Also liked her expression regarding looking over the waves - such a great visual to understand approaching challenges and troubles in life. Thank you for giving this lady a platform to spread her wisdom and outlook on life.

She’s so strong and an inspiration to us all and thank you Judy for having her come on your channel :) also I want to tell you that I just got a Waltons pillow that I designed and a Waltons t-shirt. All I can say is wow. With true tears in my eyes big hugs go out to Martha Nix. Very bad situation for her as a child actor. Adults that took advantage of her then totally blocker her out of her true dream. Glad she has her platforms to bring awareness for others who are going thru the same thing or have gone thru it already. Praying hoping wishing Martha may have anther in somehow. Now it would be interesting to hear from Keith. Thanks for this very powerful interview.

Wow Judy, thank you, thank you. This is one of your best interviews. Everything that Martha says is profound and goes straight to the heart. She is as real as rain and is a true Walton. There wasn't' one bad seed in the whole Walton clan. Judy I hope there will be a part 3 and 4 with her. I will rewatch your interviews with her because there is so much hope and help to grasp.

As you may know, I follow your page and know a little about what you endured as Judy. I am just so glad you had a father figure. Ralph/ John.
Oh by the way, John was my favorite one of the Waltons.
Judy and Martha, please stay strong, that is an order young ladies. ❤️
