- Fable made a big showing last year, and as one of the biggest upcoming Xbox Series X games, it'll be interesting to see if we get another look at the much-anticipated adventure this year. With an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023, we got a memorable trailer for Fable 4, which gave us a taste its third-person gameplay and it's British humor, alongside showing off a giant played by Richard Ayoade.
Coming to us from the developer behind the Forza Horizon series, Playground Games, Fable 4 promises to bring us back to Albion and keep the humorous spirit of Lionhead's previous games in the series. We don't yet know if the next entry will be arriving this year in the lineup of the new games for 2024, but here's hoping we get the chance to see more in the future.

Been scouring RUclips for ages looking for news on FABLE and this video contains all information I needed in a clear and concise format. Every other video was pretty much one of the many points that you made and then the rest being speculation around that one point haha

Fable was my introduction to gaming. I watched my family play the first one and when I got my first console, Fable 2 was the first game I played.
The only games that have come close to scratching that Fable itch were the Assassin’s Creed games and Skyrim. I was so ecstatic when they announced Fable 4, and I’ll be heartbroken if it’s cancelled once again.

I played the first one in Jr high, the third didn't come out my senior year of high school.
I'm safe to be drafted, I already did my time. I just want a good game that's not filled with political activism.
New Fable took too long to come out. The hole it left in my childhood has now been filled by Skyrim (yes, I'm a late gamer). P.S., I still think Fable 3 is overhated. Is it better than 1 and 2? No. But it's not as bad as ya'll make it out to be.
I see what you're saying, I personally hope they can just take some ingredients from games like Skyrim, Elden Ring and other Western RPG's that were praised in between Fable installments...We'll see, that's the "glass half full" approach, right?
Fable 3 was arguably a downgrade from Fable 2. Some of the iconic features and mechanics were streamlined. You have less options and control over your characters appearance, your holy/evil side only shows in certain combat moves, the star rating in the economy system was completely removed, the world doesn't change based on your actions throughout the game, every house outside Bowerston is the same cookie cutter model, there are no real mansions or estates you can own, the game never changes seasons, and the story takes place over 2 years instead of half your adult life.
I liked the idea of being the prince who's taking over the kingdom in a revolution against my brother, gaining allies along the way, and having my own pretty city to start out in on the other side of the map. But a prince deserves something better than a standard middle class house and there's no excuse for not designing a mansion or smaller palace for you. Even the Academy would have been sufficient but you can't live there. Brightwall swears its allegiance to you officially recognizing you as the rightful King and yet they have nowhere nice for you to live so you can feel like a real King.
That and the NPC interactions for affinity getting more cringe are my biggest gripes with Fable 3. It's not a terrible game, it's just not an upgrade from the previous one.
I prefer fable 3 to fable 1 which comparably just felt unnecessarily complicated and really limited in terms of customization.
My favorites are 2 and 3. 2 has a better story imo but 3 has better overall gameplay.
My gut is starting to tell me the game isnt ever coming
The game was actually formally announced with a trailer in 2020, and we know It began development in January 2018, and we still basically know nothing about it...

I really want them to put out some game play footage, which is what they didn't deliver on with the last 2 trailers.
Some of the second trailer was gameplay footage, BUT I want raw gameplay, I want to see the mechanics and systems involved in the game and not just polished up gameplay without a HUD

I played Fable 1 for the 1st time in 2011. I was house sitting for a friend and was bored. He had an Xbox and I decided to play what I thought even then was "an old game". I fell absolutely in love with this game and it helped me through a very dark time in my life. I hope I will always get a magical feeling when I just think of that game ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Fable 1 combat with fable 2’s property buying an hopefully you can become king like in fable 3 or have the choice not to.

I love literally every single one of the fable games…
My biggest hope is that they just dont make it where the main character is prasied for existing, I liked when you had to do lots of side quests to make you character well known or do morally good or bad things and it affects how people view you, I just hope the game doesnt just have it where everyone loves the main character right out of the gate or the main character just learns the power to defeat the big bad was in themselves the whole time, I just want the character to feel like a real character with flaws and limits and a past, 1 and 2 do the past thing right while 3 is eh on that part but force the player to make hard decisions near the end which I liked, just please dont fumble the bag Microsoft and please dont try to force the main character to girlboss her way through the game.
Same, Same, but in the trailer you can hear someone shout an obesity at the hero and everyone gasps, so I'm thinking that element of winning over the people WILL exist, I'll be making a video breaking things like that down shortly!
@@agaxb_if the game follows its previous pattern you'll be playing as the child of the hero from the last game again, so it's likely you'll start off with everyone knowing who your father and grandfather was. The hero gene is passed on through the family bloodline. There are other heros though like Reaver and the ones in Fable 2, it would fun to be Reavers kid this time.
The choices are what made the fable games for me helping bandits an seeing the town change negativity or helping the town folk and guards and seeing the town prosper stuff like that.

I really just hope she’s likable. Sarah Morgan was a bombshell but she was the WORST companion in Starfield

I'm disappointed that so many people are hating on the presumable PC's looks. She's just British! Also, if they do the muscles and height growth like before, she'll look like a monster by the end of the game anyways

Fable 1 was ahead of its time imo, only limited by time constraints. 2 was good and 3 was one i couldnt get through. This reboot has a lot to live up to if they want to match the quality of the first two games, and not just end up like Fable 3
Once a month I remember about Fables new game and I do a deep dive to be sad with no new updates. Glad I ended up here with some answers and some questions that can't be answered (quite yet I hope). Fable was my childhood so I am in hopes that they truly release this. I too follow employees and try to find some small information about this game.. I feel like a stalker but I keep telling everyone about this game and how it was my go to game when I was a kid. I hope this new one lives up to the high standards lol. Honestly, I really enjoyed the fact that you could marry a bunch of people and have kids with them like what other game allows you to do that?? Idk weird setting I liked but I like sims and it was cool to see something like that in a game like this

Its hilariously ironic that they are burning time and money with high turnover. Treat your devs, pay them well, give them time and flexibility to craft their full vision. They will produce a passion filled, high quality game... not only will you make more money in the long term, you'll strengthen your reputation. No? Ok. Overwork and underpay your people causing them to constantly quit, forcing you to train inexperienced workers who are slower and make more mistakes. Pinch pennies and rush/stress out your devs. We're definitely seeing how that's been working out.
I think the game looks really fun and I think it’d be awesome to get this game with the humor and the decision impact of the story

This game is my childhood. This is what my hopes are hanging on for Xbox as the next gen games have been extremely underwhelming thus far.

The engine issues makes some sense. LionHead created their own expression engine to utilize the the moral choices they put into the game. Trying to recreate that same experience for an engine that has primarily been tailored to racing games seems like it would be a pretty big undertaking. I just wish Microsawft or even the studio would give some kind of an update. Fable is one of my favorite franchises and It's super sucky to see it being handled this way. Especially after Legends was canned.

I think they really should look at fable the last chapters, and use it as the main inspiration for whatever game they decide to build in terms of fable while I did enjoy fable 2 I think guns were a big miss for the series

The problem with games today is that they spend way too much time on it just to overdue it and ruin it. By the time it comes out people are already drained from waiting and the hype is gone or the game is overdone and ruined. Kind of like overthinking. I miss the old games 😞
They don't talk about it much because the Playground team didn't want to. Matt Booty (head of Xbox Game Studios) has said he wanted Playground to show the game off much earlier. But Playground said no.
This is just a case of the developers keeping their head down and focusing. Which is a good thing. Im sure we'll see something this year though. I think the game will come out in 2025.
Im really excited for Fable, group up playing 2 and love 3 as well. Ive played 1 as well but fable 2 is my favorite. Im hopeful the game will be good

The Xbox 360 era was the last W across the board for Xbox for a console generation and they’ve yet to recapture that. I still have hope in the IPs, but MS is slipping. They’re becoming more of a publishing parent company than a console by the month
It was announced in 2020 and we didn’t get any updates until 2023 which is three whole years don’t lose hope they are just being secretive

They've been radio silent for nearly a year now on all platforms and MANY major developers give some progress or even....mention.....said game between showcases.
The silence in marketing, progress, and even deleted tweets are red flags, and if you can't see that then you're just commenting here to be different.
I discovered Fable 2 and 3 while I got my Series X, and I LOVED it.
Of course the gameplay was not revolutionary in 2023, but it felt satisfying, good, rewarding, and the choices were still very decent even in 2023. And the gameplay was still very very unique. It felt like no other game and I loved that. I also loved how DARK yet funny it was. So well written for that. The music as well… ah I felt in love with those games. So much to do.
But yeah not having a lot of news is concerning… and not having seen any specific gameplay elements inherents to fable games is VERY concerning.
And yeah, big Halo Infinite feeling for now… which is bad.
Forza is ok, but honestly I thought it was very boring very quickly. And way too childish. Which I hope Fable won’t be. I want that dark ambiance and dark humour !

Im a huge fan of Fable. As such the marketing and information for Fable 4 has worried me. So far, nothing ive seen seems to represent the fairly unique formula of fable. It appears to be a misguided modern imitation, without a strong idea of what made fable great. Even the teazer trailer missed the mark entirely with focusing almost exclusively on the "anti-fairytale" aspect and literally nothing else

You forgot about fable the journey. Which is by far the worst fable game ive seen. That being said i did enjoy how it tied all 3 games together. It just tied the whole story up and i liked it

Fans need to prepare for what's coming. the cancelation of this new Fable. and it's heartbreaking. they've missed the 20 year anniversary of the first game by a mile and a half. last year's trailer didn't even include a release window. Why? We literally know nothing about it. Not even a five second beta version gameplay video. If you just wanna worry, then worry about the more likely (worst) scenario: it might not even come out, like the video says.
It's only using the name of a dead franchise to get people hyped about what's probably a mediocre game that has very little in common with the original games.

judging by how the main character looks i doubt the game will be any good. games that pander to this specific subsection of the internet rarely turn out to be good. we'll probably see the same quality of work than we saw with suicide squad kill the franchise. Being a good game taht is fun and is innovative is literally on the bottom of their importance checklist. First is being as woke as possible and then comes monetization and all the way at the end comes quality. Tbh i dont think many people will be able to play a single minute with the main character looking like a downsydrom cave troll mix between man and woman. i dont need the mc to look as good as the mc of stellar blade or be a top model but there is a minimum standard that needs to be reached.

Fable has been all men for the whole trilogy? You couldn’t marry a man in the first three? What game was I playing? I swear it was Fable by Lionhead…..maybe we played two different games?
That trailer looks nothing, at all!, like the first two games, which EVERYONE loves. So we should all just stop. The great game makers are all too old to care now and so enjoy the new bs where we can all pretend it's just so real looking. Staring like an idiot at things that look so real is the new game.
