Well, in Fable: The Lost Chapter/Anniversary, Jack of Blades isn’t the person its the mask. The “Jack of Blades you fight in Fable 1 is just the latest host for Jack’s soul. To put it another way, Jack’s mask is like a lich’s phylactery and Jack is a lich that possesses any, presumably, human that puts the mask on. This is confirmed given how at the end of TLC/Anniversary the mask tries to convince you to wear it and if you do you hear jake say “I told you I couldn’t be so easily killed hero!” And you can see a final entry in your journal where Jake confirms he now possesses the hero’s body. So a female Jack of Blade is easily possible if done well.
Could also be the Queen of Blades, in the original lore Jack was one of three members of an ancient group called "the court", Humphrey's apprentice might have been corrupted by Jack and became the Queen of blades, the Queen along with Jack and the knight of blades could be the main threat of the game as we thwart their attempts to conquer Albion.
I fully expect for there to be no character creator. I do kind of expect a choice between a male and female character. Would be a tad disappointed if there is no choice but definitely don't expect a full on character creator. Especially due to the fact that Fable never had one to begin with.
I am currently playing fable 2 and anniversary and can honestly say..... they were never good looking character models, haha, but thats okay, its the charm of the game

there are several things in both trailers that scream Fable. you can see the classic British Humor and fable style buildings, Guild Symbol on Humphrey's necklace, a classic Fable Property Board, many of the old Fable Enemy types, crazy clothing and polished looking combat
I don't really care about a detailed character creator like what Skyrim had. As long as I can choose to play a male character I'm fine. I guarantee there will be some kind of skin color choice because these days it causes big problems if you can't choose to play as a black person.
Wait... Fable never had a character creator. I don't see them having one for this game either. Look how detailed and expressive the main character is. My hope, is that there are at least female and male options, like in Fable 1 & 2

It’s not actually even a dealbreaker for me, I just can’t possible imagine them not having the choice. In Fable 1 you could only be male though, of course.
I don't think a character creator would be worth it. if i can fully create my character then it would vastly take away from how morality and purity affects your appearance. I'm hoping the character we've seen is just the female option and hoping they put in the same effort for a male protagonist. i have also been hoping for a coop system like fable 3 had, maybe let you have a slightly bigger party and actually include them in cutscenes, but it wouldn't n=be good if it was to be a live service game. they should take what fable 3 did in that aspect and expand and improve it. but if i open up the game and see a character creator screen I'm going to be worried. and even if they do include it hopefully they'll have something figured out for morality and purity rather than do away with it. I have always loved figuring out all the different ways you can look with the same initial preset
It's an RPG it's never been about creating a character more following their journey, but there won't me a male or female protagonist the old fable had sex change potions I'm assuming this one will to.

some of what i saw in last trailer did somewhat look ok but im worried about the story and if i can pick who i play as and even them making it more woke
Ever since Cyberpunk, I always take celebrity inserts as a bad omen, Crackdown 3 with Terry Crews, Norman Reedus in Callisto Protocol, it just speaks to me that they are compensating for a lack of game. Fable always had a dreamscape vibe to it, not psudo-realism like The Witcher.
Not sure about what the new fable is gonna be like. I really enjoyed the trilogy even tho the games had some flaws. But the fable series feels like it somewhat belongs to lionhead, shame that the studio had to shut down. The fundamental experience that made fable so charming and fun seems to be lackning a bit when i watch these trailers. The vibes are a bit off like you said. I would like to see a remake release of the original 1-3 at some point.
I think you didn;t played the first game tho, they just going back to it and trailers nailing it until now. You said not ,,werewolves and...'' we have one small arc about them in fable 1....
The Fable games have always been some of my favorites. I even replay them now and then. That said, the studio that made those games disbanded and with it, that creative mindset is lost. The style, tone, story, etc will never be replicated. You see this in numerous franchises across the board; ie Halo. That said, fans of those games have been literally begging Microsoft for a new Fable game for over a decade. I think we should all be thanking them for finally pulling through. It's absolutely NOT going to be the same game or even close to it. If there are parts that are close to it, then you should rejoice... but this is absolutely a REBOOT and with a reboot, major things change. So, why keep the name 'Fable'? Plenty of reasons and it's good that they did so. Fan recognition is key. This game was created because fans of the world begged for it. But also, the word Fable means a story about supernatural or extraordinary persons or incidents; legend. For all intents and purposes, this game did not even have to be based in the same world or even town for that matter! The fact that it is, gives the fans more to be excited about. To see a new Bowerstone, reimagined. Both iterations can and should exist independently... at least having the same general look and familiarity will be all the better. I'm interested to see the new take on the graveyard region. As far as incorporating fairy tales into the new story telling, should be 100% okay. We grew up with fairy tales which are all fables by definition. It makes complete sense to play on that and help them to build this world. You could see it as cheap, or you can see it as another way bring familiarity into a world for people to cling to... Seeing new iterations of old fairy tales they once knew will both entice and offer fresh takes. Playing the older games and not really experiencing any fables that we already knew about seemed strange until we got acquainted with the new world and stories. This new iteration of Fable will feel strange coming from the older ones, but more open minded fans will enjoy the new directions. Lastly, about the character. Why does every single game have to have a character creator in it? This type of game is not skyrim where you can be any hero that you want to be. It's telling a story about a specific hero, and you get to determine the choices that hero makes... good or bad. The fact that we have only seen the same main character in all of the trailers, there is no boy iteration, AND there is a specific actress that plays the character, all points to ZERO character creation. This might hinder your nostalgia of the old games and it might upset you that you do not get the choice to play whoever you want.. but it offers very valid counter points. Having a set main character simplifies the game and allows the player to focus much more on the world and choices made in that world to build the character's story. This is a FABLE afterall, so story-telling is the key point. I firmly believe this game will play out like a book, with chapters. Each new character or boss we encounter will be a new chapter. It will be open world, but will be very linear in story telling. Having a single, static, character shifts the focus from what their face looks like, to what they are facing in this world. Again, this isn't a bad thing. Too many games try to be more than it should and convolutes the entire game to the point that the story is on the back burner. This is a story driven game, let's keep it at that. PS: I'm sorry this is so long. I had a lot of thoughts during your video and wanted to get them all out. I enjoy your content, A LOT... But I feel that you are desperately setting yourself up for disappointment by clinging onto the memories of the old games and how they were special. Let them live during their time... And let this new iteration breathe new thoughts and emotions into you, while still being wrapped in a world that you are already familiar with. I promise you, you'll truly enjoy this game once you get to spend time with it.
I appreciate hearing your thoughts! I’m looking forward to seeing the final game, and I think it’ll probably be pretty great in its own way. Part of the fun of this road to release is debating what will and won’t work, but when I actually sit down to start any new game, I try my best to play with fresh eyes, and no expectations. When it’s a beloved franchise like Fable, staying objective is always going to be harder, because it necessarily invites the comparison. I enjoy considering what nuances makes any franchise feel right / wrong from game to game, but in the end it just has to work as its own thing. I always pray that my hopes are proven right and my concerns are proven wrong!
i remember playing fable when i was 8 and it was my favorite game on xbox and pc. its gonna suck when a long time fan of the game isnt gona buy the new one
I honestly thought it would be quite fun if the Fable series kept going forward in time after Fable 3 and we got games set in the Albion version of the 60's and 80's or something:) I do think Playground are great on the technical level but I am not a fan of their approach to NPCs and gameplay in the Forza Horizon series. It feels like a world that exists in a corporate advertising campaign or something where everyone is happy, positive and smiling but somehow supremely punchable. For gameplay they seem to just shower the player with rewards for basically nothing as if they are afraid the player will turn the game off. I'm not that hopeful for Fable I have to say. If they let me customise my character and still allow me to basically buy every building in the game then I'll certainly give it a go.
I'm concerned with the classic fairytails inclusion too. It doesn't really feel like Fable, at least from what we've seen. It can work, but I'm skeptical. If it's just a 1 or 2 standout quests, it's not gonna be that bad, I just don't want a full on "visit every fairytale" themepark. These things in the trailers can also be just for marketing, even if made in engine? And will not be in the game at all? Not having a character creator would suck, but I honestly don't mind playing as the lady from the trailers.
Lets be honest about the DEI alphabetical self insert character. Honestly I don't see how there just using this character to promote the game the DEI character looks horrible. The original Fable is the exact reason I bought an original Xbox these trailers don't get me to want to buy an Xbox series X. I Do Not want to play as a DEI self insert. I want to play as a male hero like in the original Fable.
totally left field but I remember in the back of my brain holding that purple monster as a kid...please tell me what it is called???? Nostalgia hitting hard
I am absolutely terrified by anything produced by Microsoft. They destroyed the Fable franchise once before, I don't trust them with it at all. Hopefully it'll be a good game, and I'll just have to take the indoctrination mind control with a grimace lol, like i do with all modern games.
You keep calling them Fairy tales, but you can also call them fables. Its clear the trailers for this game are trying to show "This is a pretty game that is funny and based on classic fables". I don't think they care much if it adheres to people's preconception of what Fable is, as it is a reboot by a completely different team. That said, I do think they will try to live up mechanically and narratively to what made the original games fun. Personally, I think leaning into classic fables for gameplay scenarios is novel, and using english comedians to represent the english and comedy heritage of the series is cute.
Ok so a game that was always about choice now has no male and female character choice? Not sure how well that will go down... as a fan of Fable since first came out on Xbox I aint that happy about that... the female protagonist is not an issue but you should have a choice of gender imo..
@@Reese91momo it's a big mistake... many players dislike their forced main character... A lot of people wont'buy the game... i dont'understand Playgound, really...

Look theres no reason to assume this new game will have anything to do with Fable as we know it. This is Microsoft pushing a shitty girl power "rpg" and calling it Fable. Literally take %80 of the player base and take them out of the game by making them play a premade character they cant relate to. Good move microsoft.
I can’t relate to the Witcher character. I still enjoyed the game. Is your masculinity threatened by playing a game with a female protagonist somehow? I 100% agree there should be male/ female options but a female only character shouldn’t alienate anyone. Women aren’t that bad 😂 I’m 99% sure you owe a women your life so yeah… shity girl power. Mass effect 1,2&3 and dragon age inquisition both had better female voice actors than the male options.
@@Bethany_mo could you cope any harder? A female protagonist isnt bad. Microsoft forcing you to play a woman because the DEI gods say so is girl-power cringe and poison to any possible immersion or half decent storytelling. Lots of examples of strong female protagonists, just not in the last 10 years and never from a microsoft property.
Not every game with a female lead (which isn't at all proven to be the case here) is a woke monster. However only having an issue with games that have female/black/minority characters actually shows that you are the opposite of accepting of anything other than what I can only assume is a biased perspective. Thats your character. All this and you don't even know with certainty if there is a choice of gender or not.

Are men really that insecure? I can’t believe all the anti female comments I’ve read on game protagonists. Fable is a very popular game with women. Why is it feminist* to have a female* protagonist? 🤦♀️
@aaronjohnson1005 Doubt you played them. Most likely saw trailer with female lead then went to complain after googling Fable games. Being male or female had zero consequences. Or maybe you prefer seeing a male ass wiggling on screen the whole time, if so then it might still happen.

I am absolutely terrified by anything produced by Microsoft. They destroyed the Fable franchise once before, I don't trust them with it at all. Hopefully it'll be a good game, and I'll just have to take the indoctrination mind control with a grimace lol, like i do with all modern games.
I think the mockumentary thing is a bad choice though hope it's just marketing like you say.
Dont listen to anyones opinion if you listen to everyone you wouldn't play anything i concerned about it not having amazing british humor
Ok so a game that was always about choice now has no male and female character choice? Not sure how well that will go down... as a fan of Fable since first came out on Xbox I aint that happy about that... the female protagonist is not an issue but you should have a choice of gender imo..
you should embrase change, its a reboot for a reason. god of war reboot wouldve nevver happend if the team was made up of people like you
Hmm. I think your wrong. I dont think we will see jack of blades. Would be cool to meet your heros mother
Adult prosch are you kidding me it was one of the cleanest games now everything is nasty trash
i want the freedom of play with a male pg, and I want a character creator. If i havent i wont buy the game.
They have a paid actress likeness in this game as the protagonist thus there is no character creator 🤷🏾♂️
@@Reese91momo it's a big mistake... many players dislike their forced main character... A lot of people wont'buy the game... i dont'understand Playgound, really...
Wow. You are very well spoken and you make a pretty in depth point. You deserve many more subs! 👍🏻
Worlds gotten worse game stories gotten worse society going insane i dont think fable knows how to make a beautiful game . Society koces evil graphic violence bad language
@@couchguy427 You might actually be illiterate. Did i say every game? Im certain I said the opposite. You are just so desprate to claim moral supiriority that you lose any ability to think critically about what i actually said.
i didn't like any of the fable games after the first one,(first one was great) second one and third i didn't get more then 20 minutes in and never played again. My guess is this one will be a woke bs game, but i hope im wrong.
Dude how old are you why are you doing a video game video before it comes out millennials will complain no matter what
Woke fable
Fwmale lead watch , propaganda femenist crap
Are men really that insecure? I can’t believe all the anti female comments I’ve read on game protagonists. Fable is a very popular game with women. Why is it feminist* to have a female* protagonist? 🤦♀️
If they made the game how u want, it will make it boring and lockluster,as well as uninspiring, just let the game be 🤨
You mean if they made the game like a fable game it would be boring? Since fable one they let you decide which to be and I don’t want to be a female….
@@aaronjohnson1005 so u playing with a female character is a problem, are u gay😅😅😅
@aaronjohnson1005 Doubt you played them. Most likely saw trailer with female lead then went to complain after googling Fable games. Being male or female had zero consequences. Or maybe you prefer seeing a male ass wiggling on screen the whole time, if so then it might still happen.
