There are three main fable games and they're not all the same. Why is this getting heat just because its not somehow the same as the original? Came here for hidden clues we missed and not people complaining.
To be fair, 2 and 3 caught a lot of heat from die hard fable fans This game is catching so much heat because we don't want a repeat of 2 and 3. We want a game that is finally worthy of the name the original made for itself.

I don't agree with hiring the models part. All major RPGs has a base of model faces which can be customized like Baldurs Gate 3, Starfield, Cyberpunk. They just chose her to be the face of marketing like Male Shephard for Mass Effect. Everything should be clear with the Fable Direct next summer anyways.
I wouldn't be so quick to use the "all RPG's" logic zelda games are RPG adventure games, and you don't get to customize your character, you get to play as link The most we have ever gotten from Fable, is the choice between a preset male model, and a preset female model. But BOTH times this has happened, it has also been made excruciatingly clear and obvious in the trailers that it was a feature of the game. Given the history of Fable games in particular, the only thing with historical precedence that we can hope for is that there is also a male option; however the trailers have yet to illustrate this as a feature. The bottom line is that we can't just make assumptions based on things we haven't been told. All we have to work with is what he have been told/shown at face value, and historical precedence of previous titles. I would be reluctant to apply logic from other game series/other development studios, to this game from this studio. I don't really care what Mass Effect, or Baldurs Gate, or Starfield, or Cyberpunk did. Fable is not any of those games, and historically Fable hasn't been like those games; so there is no reason to believe Fable will be like those games all of a sudden, unless the developers show/tell us this themselves. We will just have to wait and see, but from what we have to go off of currently, kinda just seems like we are going to be playing as a girl.
I feel like this trailer was actually a tease that she isn’t the main character. The way they made his monologue seem like it was about her, only to be about the villain. I’d bet we will be able to pick our character. Even more so after this trailer
Sure it is, with the character they created for these trailers. Your character will look like your character, in the same scene. We see that all the time in games.
The catching of the arrow in the trailer I think is a reference to one of Peter Molenus original fable 1 promises. He said something about "skill" giving you the ability to catch arrows in mid air and throw it back at the enemy in an interview i beleive.
There's still time for them to make small tweaks to the appearance of the character. In the Red Dead 2 trailers, Arthur looked a bit different and worse than he did in the final game. She doesn't look all that bad to me, but it might be a good idea to change her a bit
i was kinda thinking the staff lady we see at the end could be theresa.... hes saying he knew someone that made all the wrong choices.. that doesnt mean the lady we see at the end was who he was refering to...or it could.. all we know is the ugly girl says shes back... was she referring to the wrong choice lady or theresa.. or they could be one and the same person
Yoooo that theory you said about the protag being the mother of the hero of Oakville sounds like really cool and i kinda hope that's the case. It would also be cool seeing jack of blades like before the first fable game. Idk but i just think it's so cool to seeing everything that happens before the events of the first game.
Nobody notice that during the entire trailer and the footage of the main character. He's talking about her in past tense. Here's a fun thing. The footage of the protagonists were saying might actually just be a random hero who's talking about.
Not really sure how any of this is confusing, when the end of the trailer literally solves your "mystery" pretty clearly. It is insanely obvious that he is introducing some sort of villain, or at least some hero who turned evil (made ALL the WRONG choices) Not really sure how you could conclude anything else based on the details we are given. It also literally shows third person gameplay footage of the protagonist, including ranged, melee, magic, and special (grabbing crossbow bolts midair) combat
I believe you are reaching with the customization of a main character and/or choosing between multiple heroes. Thematically the trailer is about choice and choosing if you want to be good (make the right choices as the unnamed female hero is set up to do) or bad (choosing the wrong choices as the red robed rival hero is set up to have done). I believe that’s all that can be interpreted. Highly doubt it is any deeper than that.
Will also add that I think it's funny this is the only time I can think of where the choice of character is a point of contention. Most other RPGs choose one character for trailers.
I mean how many reboots in the past decade have been worthy of their predecessors hype. It only used the Fable name to sell more copies and the og team are pretty much gone. The "magic" will never return but I suppose this game could still be fun to play.
With the new Fable is that they're making the characters look too realistic Fable was about having more of a cartoonish aspect to it kinda like a Pixar movie like Shrek or even frozen
I still don't cnosider this trailer gameplay, the "gameplay" we see could well be like finishers instead of actual gameplay, I say this because of the quality of animation and that actually scares me because if you've ever played fifa or wwe games this type of gameplay sucks a lot because your inputs usually don't register when the animation plays or the latency is off the charts
Yeah I know what you mean most of it seems like actual cutscenes, with a little bit of gameplay sprinkled in, probably with the hud removed (like the bow and arrow/spell sequences and walking through town), but it doesn't look like natural gameplay it looks too cinematic
At MOST we would get to pick between Male and Female, Fable has never had "Character Creation" and those hoping for it are gonna be disappointed. I would be perfectly fine if it's just the character they've shown, because it seems like a well made character, but if we can't customize in SOME way, the game will not feel like Fable as much

I honestly think it will be Theresa, she has been in almost every fable game even spin offs. When she speaks at the very end of the trailer she even sounds like the actress is trying to mimic both Theresa’s voices from the first game, a soft voice and the more old lady voice from the sequels
but they were still exaggerated versions of the standard Only weapon that is close to standard, is the longsword, and even that is super chunked out looking, and would weigh 2-3x as much as a real sword would. Everything else is pretty fantasy looking. Massive cleavers, maces bigger than your head, hammers bigger than your body, etc.

Look I know I’m late to the party with this reply. But god damn it I have been playing the fable games since original Xbox. I can’t wait for this game. Even if I have to play as rough looking female. As long as I can change her hair style give her make up or a beard and change her clothes I’ll be down with it. If they brought back the jobs like in fable 2 and 3 and I can buy every bodies homes and shops I’ll be happy. But if they do allow to swap genders like they did in 2 and 3 this very well could be the beginning of a great rebooted series
I think we've been played by playground games. This trailer makes us think Humphry is talking about the girl who we think is the main protagonist when they are actually talking about the villain. They knew about the discourse surrounding the character so they teased us with it. So I think there is a character creator and this trailer by leading us on to believe that Humphry is talking about the girl we see rather than the main protagonist only to do a switcharoo at the end leads me to believe there is a character creator of some sort. Either that or playground is evil and likes to stab us and twist the knife whilst we are down 😂 They benefit from the discourse surrounding the character I'm sure of it.

And I think the narrator is deliberately misleading us all the way through the trailer and then only at the end revealing that they were actually talking about the villain (which is what a lot of people have noticed). Either way it's only a speculation but I think it holds some weight.
i feel like the character would never be customized in this game also there no proof of new weapons i mean yes you have a bow and the sword and that's it no maces no hammers not even daggers or the Katanas
I'll genuinely be annoyed if I cant coose a male hero, my iissue isn't and has never been how the female character model looks, but as a HUGE fan of Fable I like to immerse myself into the world of Albion and play as a hero as if it were me, thats just how I play a game like Fable or Skyrim, I dont want to be a woman or a lizard humanoid (skyrim) character, I want to be a man with the clothes and weapon customisation of my choice and the ability to do good and evil deeds etc and be fully immersed in this world as my avatar. If this new Fable forced me to play as that woman, it wouldnt be a deal breaker; I'd still give the game a solid chance but it would inevitably break the immersion for me and ultimately would NOT feel like a Fable game to me and probably alot of Fable fans out there. Being painted as a sexist or whatever for having a VALID concern when it relates to a Fable game is highly unappreciated, if a developer wants to make an open world RPG based on a female only protagonist then do it but dont call it Fable. - The Welsh Gamer.

@@PTMG Not arguing with that logic, im just simply throwing in "Plot twist". Lol I do agree to some degree it being a figure such as Queen of Blades perhaps, but Theresa also wore a red cloak. And Just going off the look of what I assume is Bowerstone, (TO MY OPINION) looks like a clash somewhere between 1 and 2 somewhere - especially since we havent seen guns as of yet to be confirmed and only bows. (Timeline hint based on technology presented) So I assume it could be a moderately young Theresa and this whole hero thing could be taking place after Heroes Guild was brought to ruin as told in "Fall of the Heroes" tale. Another reason I cant necessarily think it would be Queen of Blades (or anyone of the Court for that matter) was initially they were defeated by a hero named William Black during the Old Kingdom. ANd just going off the trailer, there's no confirmation stating whether that be the case - given we seen only a female protagonist at the moment, and as well if that is lore anymore with this Fable reboot probably going a new route. Another theory it could be before FABLE 1 and the woman at the end was Scarlet Robe, mother of Theresa and Hero of Oakvale. Who knows. EDIT: OR IT COULD BE A GAME, During the OLD KINGDOM, and it's entirely a different location than bowerstone and yes it could very well be Queen of Blades from the Court. That be possible as well. Lots of ways to interpret it I think.
I really think from the first glance they've missed the Fable universe. It's not supposed to be realistic, it never has been, why do we have ultra realistic humans? I want big noses, massive bellies ugly ass guards that are basically just a talking moustache and nose. Sure based on humans per sey but never was supposed to be realistic. Like you said they've missed the mark on the fable aesthetic entirely it seems. I really hope somehow we sonic the hedgehog this dev team into changing the art back.
Yeah I think it's too late at this point for them to pull a full on sonic style redesign, but lets hope they capture the rest of the feel of a fable game as far as gameplay and mechanics are concerned, and general world feel.
First fable 1 you can’t not choose your character it is a fixed character as well. Snd got the rest it is a remake not the same thing this guy is just a hater or he is too dumb to realize all that

Yeah I agree There's definitely a time and place for it. Like a game like GTA will speak for itself and the graphics are just the decorative frosting on top, so the more realistic the better And then other games like fable are more of a delicious pie, that shouldn't have frosting on it at all or it could completely ruin the pie

I do agree to some degree it being a figure such as Queen of Blades perhaps, but Theresa also wore a red cloak. And Just going off the look of what I assume is Bowerstone, (TO MY OPINION) looks like a clash somewhere between 1 and 2 somewhere - especially since we havent seen guns as of yet to be confirmed and only bows. (Timeline hint based on technology presented) So I assume it could be a moderately young Theresa and this whole hero thing could be taking place after Heroes Guild was brought to ruin as told in "Fall of the Heroes" tale.
Another reason I cant necessarily think it would be Queen of Blades (or anyone of the Court for that matter) was initially they were defeated by a hero named William Black during the Old Kingdom. ANd just going off the trailer, there's no confirmation stating whether that be the case - given we seen only a female protagonist at the moment, and as well if that is lore anymore with this Fable reboot probably going a new route.
Another theory it could be before FABLE 1 and the woman at the end was Scarlet Robe, mother of Theresa and Hero of Oakvale. Who knows.
EDIT: OR IT COULD BE A GAME, During the OLD KINGDOM, and it's entirely a different location than bowerstone and yes it could very well be Queen of Blades from the Court. That be possible as well.

I really think from the first glance they've missed the Fable universe. It's not supposed to be realistic, it never has been, why do we have ultra realistic humans? I want big noses, massive bellies ugly ass guards that are basically just a talking moustache and nose. Sure based on humans per sey but never was supposed to be realistic. Like you said they've missed the mark on the fable aesthetic entirely it seems.
I really hope somehow we sonic the hedgehog this dev team into changing the art back.
Yeah I think it's too late at this point for them to pull a full on sonic style redesign, but lets hope they capture the rest of the feel of a fable game as far as gameplay and mechanics are concerned, and general world feel.

Plague of realism in modern gaming. Everything becomes the same, looks the same, feels the same. Terrible. I hate seeing great games butchered this way.

There's definitely a time and place for it. Like a game like GTA will speak for itself and the graphics are just the decorative frosting on top, so the more realistic the better
And then other games like fable are more of a delicious pie, that shouldn't have frosting on it at all or it could completely ruin the pie
