- Jak & Daxter have seemingly been abandoned, despite the community and fans of the series being just as active today as they were in 2004. Today, we are going to take a look at the series overall, and then try and understand why the series has gone into hibernation, and of course answer the raging question: is there hope for a relaunch? Those 2 games were my whole childhood
The driving mechanics in Jak 3 were the best. Then they somehow came out with a Jak and Daxter racing game with the crappiest driving ever, lol.

I would not mind Jak 4 existing. If Naughty Dog decides not to make any more Last of Us games, they could go back to the Jak and Daxter series and make a 4th game.

@@enriquecasiano9558 Lost frontier doesn't count as the 4th game and Naughty Dog does not recognize it as part of the series. So no, we still have not yet gotten a real 4th game.
The moment JAK talks for the first time ever in JAK 2, is such a iconic moment and it’s so embedded in my brain

I really wish they'd bring back/revive the Jak and Daxter series. The first game is a personal favourite among the original trilogy. I still love it so much to this day. The second are third games were also good. I even remember playing the spin-off game Daxter on my PSP back in the day. Even if the first 3 games got a remake, I'd still be content with that over nothing at all. Although a brand new J&D game after all this time being dormant would be more preferable/desirable.
Jak 3 was a masterpiece
First in the series I played. It got me hooked.

I don't think the current Naughty Dog could even make a Jak 4. Quite a few of the original creators have left the company and the studio has gone off in a different direction. It's a shame, though, because the series has great lore.
I hope one day Naughty Dog and Sony can enlist the trust of a studio to remake the Jak and Daxter trilogy since I personally have never played them. Also, I hope this 'What Happened to...' series continues cause it's very intriguing to watch. I would LOVE to see a video in this series on the InFAMOUS, Sly Cooper and Resistance franchises.

Don’t need more remakes. We need more new ORIGINAL games. The first three games still hold up well
As long they stay woke I doubt see anything good from naughty dog or even PlayStation well for Western side as Japanese say western don't get it like they do I agree with them one of there game the westerners said was impossible have body like that when they prove female is girl is a model
Jak and Daxter was an instant classic once i played it, from different adventures to Jak and Daxter's lovable dynamic, I don't know why they just left it when this franchise still has a lot to offer with either Jak 4 or another Daxter solo game.
"What happened?" Right out the top of my head:
"The developers couldn't stop milking out Uncharted & The Last Of Us. The same way Prince of Persia has to watch Ubisoft milk the hell out of Assassin's Creed".
Jak and Daxter still has so much story to explore, but now, lets milk Uncharted.
Yeah, the house of Mar, the Dark Makers, the origins of the Precursors, Daxter's Precursor biology, Grue's daughter being the new crime boss, origin of the Metalskulls, the fate of Gol & Maya, the difference between white/light eco & dark eco and their full potential... just SOOO many plotpoints to go along with and make games about.
Uncharted had 4 games, one DLC and a spin off, TLOU has 2 games, one DLC, Jak and Daxter had 6 games, which one was being milked?
Damn I miss this series. The only thing I regret is not being able to unlock the Dexter car in Jak X. But the fact that existed was awesome and I wish they’d bring them back with some kind of reward for playing the last ones. This is a series that I 100% all of them(with the exception of the Dexter car)
So glad I took a chance on Jak and Daxter. Really hope they get the comeback they deserve one day.
My first console was a ps2 that me and my brothers got for Christmas and the first game we had was Jak and Daxter i will always be a fan. I loved how when we got older and matured so did the series i couldnt believe the sheer contrast between playing the percursor legacy then playing Jak 2. I will never give up on my hopes of a Jak 4.
I was obsessed with the 2nd game as a kid. Never got to play it though.

Personally i never beat 2, only 1 and 3 out of the initial trilogy, 2 always got ridiculously difficult for me about 80% through

Jak and Daxter played a major part of my teen years of gaming. I remember when I won Jak 2 in a Toonami sweepstakes. I was so amped! Love the series and played all the way to Combat Racing. It would be cool for Jak & Daxter to make a comeback. If Ratchet & Clank can do it, Jak & Daxter can do it too.

Loved all the jak games. Even as a kid at the time, i wouldn't say the games got overly difficult. Perfect games in my opinion
I missed out on the original series back then because I was primarily a GameCube player and not a PS2 player. I think a Jak & Daxter remake trilogy can work in the 9th-generation since there’s room for both linear action-platforming games AND non-linear, stylized action-platforming games.
It would work any gen it's jack and Daxter dude.

I got a ps2 for Christmas one year, and Jak 3. (Yes, I started in the third game in a trilogy). Ended up loving it, and bought Jak and Daxter: The Precursor legacy, and Jak II. I SOOO miss playing them.

I miss Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper sooo much! We need them back! Ghost of Tsushima is too confusing for me to enjoy, and I'm sick of all these realistic IPs of Uncharted and The Last of Us. The Last of Us, especially!

Im 28. I remember playing Jak 1, Jak 2 and Jak 3 as a kid. I'll never forget Jak and Daxter!❤ So many good memories made playing these games.
My favorite game series! This and crash,spyro,ratchet and sly are all i really play anymore. Sad to see whats happened to them.
when I was a little kid, I would play though these games so many times over.. after a while I would just start walking around the battle zones in Jak 3, protecting citizens and RPing that I was apart of the battle, RPing long before I ever even knew that was. I will never forgot how warm those moments made me on the inside.. and it makes me so sad that this series has gotten 0 love for so many years from its creators.

Jak and Daxter is what got me into gaming when I was a child, they were the very first video game I’ve ever played. I still love this series even to this day. I miss playing as these iconic Precursor heroes.😢

I think naughty dog should just put together a small young team to remake the game. They can develop their skills and the company would have a pool of up-and-coming developers to choose from to add to the main team when the time araises
The Daxter game on psp with only Daxter as a playable character is burned into my mind as one of my favorite games from childhood I wish they would bring these characters back

Jak and daxter are such great games. Would love to see a jak 4 or even. Remake of the original game. Jak and sly cooper where my childhood and will forever be my childhood!
Do a similar video on Sly Cooper please. It hasn’t suffered as hard as Jak and Daxter but it’s in a very similar situation. I love both series for different reasons too.
Jake and Daxter 1 was just an amazing game still now just as much as it was back then. I can't tell you how many times I would replay the all 3 games a long with Rachet and Clank. The early 2000's games hit differently back when everything was coming out and changing up.
Every time I replay jak 2 (even more so if I played 1 before firing up 2) it triggers the same feeling/memories of when I fired up jak 2 for the first time. Such a great twist imo

Loved playing those games as a kid. While the tone definitely got more serious I thought it was awesome. Really hope the series gets a remake! Getting Crash & Spyro was a welcome surprise and I think there’s still plenty of us who would welcome it!

I would not mind a Jak and Daxter movie, but that is what the 1st three games already accomplished with the no load screens. Similar to Abe's Odyssey with the cutscenes (Also, I am aware there were load times. I am just talking about the movie like cutscenes), especially with Strangers Wrath. 🎥🎮

Jak and Daxter was the first video game i've ever played, and for years I didn't have a memory card so I would always replay it. Later on I would leave my ps2 on for days at a time till I got back to my dads to finish the game. This games movement also just feels so much better than most modern games a remake would be amazing.
I did the same thing with crash bandicoot at boss that was too hard and i had to go to school😂 actually buying the memorycard would have been cheaper then the energy bill😂😂

I remember playing the Jak games as kid. I barely remember the first Jak and Daxter game but I absolutely loved Jak II. The change in the tone in gameplay was memorable but my 11 year old self thought it was the coolest thing ever. Jak 3 was even better and I have fond memories of that game as well. I remember back then I didn't hear about anyone who didn't like the tone shift from the first to Jak II. In my opinion, it was the right move.

Ikr! I literally mastered that game at the age of 7! There were hard parts but it was still beatable.
Sony's negligence and Naughty Dog's priorities over Uncharted 2, because they were working on Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier at the same time as Uncharted 2 the most logical move would have been was to finish one game first then the other,but no they worked on Lost Frontier half way and passed it to another studio to finished what they started and the end result not many people liked Lost Frontier
Sony Interactive Entertainment gives their studios complete creative freedom how is that "negligence"
Naughty Dog prioritizing Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is not "negligence" when they realized they could not juggle two projects at once so it was better to pass the smaller scale one after cancelling it to another studio that would revive it to fully focus on what they wanted
That's not how video game development works nor the idea behind contracting said studio to be able to focus entirely on a new project

Even their studio profile outlines they are an all hands on deck a single project at a time company
Studios move on from past projects to create new experiences nothing wrong with that
Hell the Sly Trilogy was not remastered until Sucker Punch gave their blessing towards Sanzaru Games

@@sir.jinzu9426The studios don't want to work on the games you want back, easy as that. Sony is not forcing them to anything other than the live service stuff, and that initiative has now been canceled and Sony changed their strategy.

Honestly i think a soft reboot or new story direction after jak 3 would work in the same setting. Introduce light rpg mechanics for platforming/eco based skills and gun/vehicle development through crafting, materials, money, XP etc. in line with the core mechanics from the original trilogy. Maybe something similar to what gears did with the locust into the swarm could be done with the metal heads for a new enemy archetype.
Loved all three games but I'll always wonder how the stories and gameplay of sequels could've been if they kept the story in the original game's world.
Jak & Daxter could go the Zelda BOTW or TOTK route, that would be awesome
I think now could be a great time to revamp the series. We have so much high tech, challenging games at the moment, this would be refreshing

I remember going to a friend’s house as a child and playing jak the first time. I thought it was amazing, the vehicle movement REALLY stood out to me for some reason at the time.
Jak & daxter is my favorite naughty dog IP and got me thru my childhood + JAK 2 is the best in the series
I missed PlayStation franchises that aren't on the PS5 yet.
I would lose my breath if Killzone, Sly Cooper, Resistance or Jax and Daxter rebooted or made a comeback to the PlayStation 5.

This is my first game that I ever played on my own and beat. This whole series is so special to my heart, and I would really love to see it get the attention. It deserves instead of naughty dog, giving all of it to the last of us. (Don’t get me wrong. The last of us is also a masterpiece, but this is quite literally the definition of a hidden gem.)
the first jak and daxter game i played as a kid was the lost frontier on the PSP. call it not good, call it bad. that game has a special place in my memories and i loved it though i wish you could use all the upgrades and stuff i got after completing the game just going around the world etc but i digress. i did find the older games and played 2 and 3.
So....before TLOU2, there was Jak II 😁
But joking aside, I say the series has done enough to please everyone.
All I can say is, just let it rest.
I'm glad they didn't go with the redesign for Jak and Daxter, honestly. It would have felt wrong and weird. I hope one day they'll try again and make Jak 4. The Jak series is definitely one of my favorites so I really hope they release a new one some day.
This series still has so, so much to give. Its a shame we will probably never gonna see a new game.

They tried to make Jak 4 but then realized the game they wanted to make didn't uphold the vibe/feeling of Jak... it would be a game that the fans most likely would not like if they called it Jak 4... so they stopped making it.

Fyi, Lost Frontier is actually mainline J&D series, it's considered the fourth main entry and was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy. And while most people hate it outright, I thought it was okay except for the overly tedious dogfighting. It was a main mechanic to get around mind you but it did get old real fast with only slight variations on what you had to do in say the boss fights. I'm still waiting on that slightly more than rumored remake coming, as developers stated that the easter egg in R&C:RA for Jak and Daxter wasnt only a nostalgia hit and they were trying to get a new series off the ground for it. That was at least a year or two ago though but with how amazing Crash 4 wound up not to mention Rift Apart, I expect at the least a multi-console rerelease of the series in the next year or two. Preferably only to Jak X but again I wouldnt mind screwing around through Lost Frontier again either
I don't care if its Naughty Dog or another Studio. I just want someone to make a new Jak & Daxter game. Seeing as how Insomniac is still able to maintain the Ratchet & Clank series and even included Jak & Daxter in Rift Apart, I say they take over the property. Maybe then we could finally see this beloved franchise brought back to life.

Hopefully Capcom want to published a remake of Jak and Daxter making Naughty Dog,Sony and Capcom sign an publishing deals with RE Engine version of Jak and Daxter

The original was perfect. It felt like a steam punk paradise. Yellow eco was as close to guns as it got. Thats part of what made it unique.
Would love for Jak & Daxter to get a quality remaster, including an official PC port.

I love these games and i dont think they need to adjust much just show us the workings as jak takes on the role of mar, show us what he had to do to build the city show us how he overcame whatever adversities to become this large figure! Take us back to the og map and begin to expand it to the haven city! Id love to go back as the jak 3 version and go back to build his haven! Take out metal head, dark makers and lurkers! Show us how he made this circle loop!
I will continue to play the trilogy until this happens and this will be a something my children play if they want to play my systems 😂 played on ps3,4,and 5 won't stop love it!!!!

I'm literally playing the game on my ps5, I didn't get to play the game (Jax & daxter) on my PS2 when I was 7 years old (I'm 29) so that is the one game I missed on was jax & daxter

This was my childhood. Me and my sister played Spyro and the first Kingdom Heart's. Me and my cousin played Sly Cooper, Giant Citizen, Kinetica, and Jak and Daxter. Man I miss late 90s and early 2000s.
A Jak trilogy full remake needs to happen. Do like they need Crash and make it ported to all consoles (switch would be a killer saler for Jak and Dexter due to the platform still being extremely huge for the console and it would be a huge success
If a remake of the OG trilogy were to happen, I'd love to see them combine it into a single game. I think that would work really well especially during a Hero Mode playthrough of the game.

Makes sense they still havent made a new game, that’s what naughty dog does, they make 4-5 games in a popular franchise then move on to the next. First Crash then Jak then Uncharted, hopefully there doesn’t end up being that many last of us tho, those games are too long and depressing imo
