      I don’t hear many people talk about Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, which is a real shame. It looks like a GTA knock of set in North Korea, but it’s actually a fantastic 3rd person shooter with a fantastic open world, lots of weapons to play with, tons of cool vehicles,and a fully destructible world. You play as a mercenary, who is charged with taking down a dictator, and his 51 henchmen, represented by a deck of cards. You’re given an objective, how you complete it is totally up to you.

    PS2 had a LOT of underappreciated games.
    Mad Maestro! was a rhythm game that went in for classical music. Why no one wants to touch that genre with a ten meter cattle prod, despite a huge catalog that would cost nothing to license, is beyond me. I'll see your "Through the Fire and the Flames," and raise you one "1812 Overture."
    Baroque was an unapologetically tough post-apocalyptic roguelike. It was weird, it was wonderful, and I miss it.
    G1 Jockey 3 got a Western port, and this was all about the racing, the horses, and the characters. You'd think a horse racing RPG-light would be a snoozer, but you'd be wrong.

    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 4 месяца назад

      As a person that is both a fan of metal, as well as classical, music, Dragonforce simply is a much more complex version of even the most complex of classical music, and, were they to have existed at the time when classical music existed, then their songs would be among the most complex of classical music songs that were ever made. Basically, think of the most complex classical music that was ever composed, and dial that to 11, and that is Dragonforce.

    • @ToABrighterFuture
      @ToABrighterFuture 4 месяца назад

      @@paxhumana2015 Not saying Dragonforce is in any way bad. I'm just saying that, in a theoretical classical music video game, conducting the "1812" would make for one heck of a "final boss" kind of piece (which is the basis for my comparison). 15 minutes long, bells, artillery, and even a choir, depending on the arrangement...it's a lot to keep straight.
      Gamers don't have fifteen minutes to spare for a single piece, so this theoretical game would focus on shorter pieces like, say, Pachelbel's Canon, or Mountain King, or Fanfare For the Common Man.
      See what I'm getting at?

    MDK2 is a seriously hidden gem. I loved that game so much and played through multiple times back then even on harder difficulty levels. The concept of saving one hero by the hand of another who have been kidnapped afterwards by the aliens was a great experience of this sequel of MDK came out in the 90s. Nonetheless, we could also play 2 extra characters with their own unique playstyle and oh god, the dialogue is GOLDEN! MDK3 will just never gonna happen as much as I see this game. No chance regarding that, no matter how great of a successor it was in my childhood.

    Thanks for this video man! Quite a good list! I've played Urban Reign till the end, around 100 stages, unlocking all characters, there's even Paul and Law from Tekken, I wished they had Kazuya and others in this but the roaster is quite nice, playing with a friend in coop or versus compensated the game being repetitive!
    I completed Oni but on pc, bought a magazine that had the game in a cd. Many pc games were sold cheap in this format, had a few of them. The gameplay was pretty good but guns were not worth using most of the time, also the scenarios seemed too simple.
    I do wanna recomend a few games, one is Growlanser Generations, a tactic rpg with the marvelous art of Satoshi Urushihara, i don't see this game receiving the proper love it deserves. Silpheed The Lost Planet is a nice shoot em up, also finished but i did not find that hard compared to other games of this genre, even had a decent story line! There's a few more games but i just don't recall right now, the PS2 library is quite large, we're sure to find more hidden gems!
    I didn't knew about this Grim Grimoire, quite interesting game, going to check it out! Thanks again!

    I played so much No One Lives forever on pc as a kid. Finally picked up the ps2 version on clearance in 2005 . Also know everyone one of these. Usually we're in the $2-10 range for games I'd pick up at gamestop.

    For me, Chaos Legion was a pretty cool game overshadowed by Devil May Cry. It had its faults. Hard mode had some enemies that were just stupidly spongy, but I liked it a lot. It was very frustrating, because I remember a review at the time from one of the big sites being 'Its too easy' when they obviously played on easy difficulty, due to some of the things they complained about being more of situations associated with easy mode.

    The Mark of Kri.
    You play as a Polynesian warrior out for revenge for the destruction of his tribe.
    The animation reminds me of Don Bluth and the gameplay predates the Arkham series. By moving the right analog stick, each opponents will have a symbol of the face buttons. So you can fight different enemies at once.
    Loved that game when it came out and brought it again on the ps store. Hope I can still access it.

    This Bungie fan boy played Oni. Pathways to Darkness, Marathon and the first two installments of Myth were my favorite games in high school. Was pretty devastated when they sold out to MS. Haven’t been the same since, while Halo still had some of the magic it was clear the visionaries had cashed out and left. Valuable life and why it doesn’t piss me off anymore when a company sells out. We already lost the best of them in 00.

    Grim Grimoire is excellent! It doesn't look it, but it actually plays similarly to Starcraft, in fact a developer cited Starcraft as one of his influences. The original PS2 version did have some slowdown issues when things got chaotic, but there's a PS4/5 remaster out now, so just get that version!

    actually remember back in action(find cool a lot of the deleted scenes where used that more film games should've done as i'd love another console looney tunes game like this as i loved playing it at my school's book fair finding it just as underrated as the film.),bloodrayne,urban reign(loved tekken force and remember this for paul/law's guest appearance alongside it being compared to capcom's beatdown fist of vengeance.),graffiti kingdom(remember it for reimu from touhou's cameo.:3) .
    & snoopy vs. the red baron(wish more peanuts games got made as i was interested in a game based off those dogfights/loved a few of the peanuts games.).
    oni/gregory horror picture show(got introduced seeing it on capcom's consumer chronicles that alongside capcom friendly club introduced me to so many of their great series.:3) looks fun & whiplash sounds like a concept for a ren and stimpy game.

    @mojoplays, fun fact, Seek and Destroy (which is also the title of a classic song by Metallica, by the way), is actually a part of the Choro Q franchise, which began with the game that is called City Connection (and is now also the name of the successor video game company to the old video game/mega-conglomerate company that was called Jaleco). The Japanese name of the game translates to True Combat: Choro Q, so, yes, the English name of the game is a lot better. Also, in my list of my own twenty good picks for the PS2, I mention a few good war based video games that are criminally overlooked as well. Finally, Seek and Destroy/True Combat: Choro Q reminds me of a more primitive version of World of Tanks. I also mentioned two other games that were in the franchise that also got NTSB-U releases as well in my Honorable Mentions list, namely, Gadget Racers/Choro Q HG, and Road Trip/Choro Q HG 2.
