Here’s a weird situation. My switch has been acting up for years. It would switch from auto to 4 long when the truck was shut off The indicator lights wouldn’t always work But 4x4 always did. So that’s left it. I knew I’d have to change it eventually Yesterday I was in 2wd and it wouldn’t go into 4x4 at all. I checked the fuses and grounds everything was good. I knew it was the bad switch. I went and picked up a replacement and installed it. Same problem. The lights would light up when you start the truck. But went out and wouldn’t let you select 4x4 I was puzzled because it worked fine the day before. The only thing I did differently was disconnect the battery while I installed a led lightbar I didn’t think it could be related. But I tried it anyways. I disconnected the negative terminal and cleaned it. After about 5 minutes I reinstalled it and BOOM The switch works as it should I just thought I’d share my experience I’m not saying that’s what did it for sure. But it’s working fine now. 🤞
Man thank you so much I was about to throw new switch and parts at my truck and decided to look for transfer case fuse which mine is “trec” and solved it !! Thank you thank you
My good man…. I just got finished replacing the TCCM and first test drive, switches went black…. I was ready to jack the car back up and tear everything down to look at it… Now I’m wondering if this freakin’ fuse was bad from day one ?!??? Oh well, new TCCM and also caught a nasty u joint, so had the front driveline serviced. Hopefully the fuse doesn’t keep blowing now! Thanks again for a seemingly easy fix
Rich, I'm experiencing the same problem with my 01 sierra 1500 z71. I disconnected my battery for 12 hrs, checked both fuses still not working. My brake lines blew out, and have been replaced with new ones... still no power to the control switch... I don't know what to do next ...
if i remove the 4x4 fuse in the cab and just barely put it back in and wiggle it up and down my push button flickers and clicks for a second then nothing .Any thoughts
Hope that's my problem on my 2004 Yukon - switch is not lite up , just bought the truck with that problem , it had the transfer case wire ripped out some how it was repaired i was told - it coud be a code problem - dash says Service 4 wheel drive
Thx a lot! Could never have found out that it was the 20A ATC-fuse that was the problem with my nonworking 4wd without this. 👍
I'd replaced cluster after dash trouble code. This video God send to help me before an ice storm
Rich...Truly, thank you for posting that. Three years on, and you are still helping people!
