Bought my 2005 Silverado in 2007. 14 years later I just rolled over 211k miles, and she is still kicking it. I've addressed 4 out of the 5 issues you mentioned (never dealt with a knock sensor). Here's a couple more:
    1) Day time running lights
    2) Airbag (impact) sensors behind the bumper
    3) Stepper motors in the dash
    4) Transfer Case encoder motor sensor
    5) Castech heads
Overall this has been a rock solid performing truck. Michigan winters have taken their toll on the body, but that's to be expected. I'll keep her on the road as long as I can. With the limited maintenance I've had to do, this truck doesn't owe me a thing.

I have a 2006 Silverado 2500HD with 145,000 miles. I have only had the tailgate latch issue and the steering column issue. Each was really easy and cheap to fix. The tail gate latch fix is a $2.00 plastic clip to reconnect the rod(s) to the latch. I solved the steering column issue not be replacing the intermediate shaft, instead by an almost free solution. I used a zip tie between the steering column plastic housing and an adjacent metal structure under the dash to pull the play out of the steering column. This held up for 3-4 years, problem developed again, so I has to put in a new zip tie, problem solved yet again, total cost 5 cents. This has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever had. I have only spent money on things that wear out such as tires, brakes, wipers, shocks, a couple of ball joints, belts, and fluids.

I’ve had my ‘03 Silverado now going on 21 years. Just had a recent surprise when I was pulled over for no brake lights. First thing I thought, a fuse. Never had fuse go out on this one. Checked a 10 amp at dash fuse box. Fine. Then tried a different switch at the brake pedal. Nope. Center brake light working. Didn’t know there were two separate fuses for brake lights. The other one I found out about when I Googled. VEH 15 amp was the culprit. As for common problems, haven’t had these 5, but had an early recall when the distributor was getting moisture. An alternator, the pumps, hubs eventually wore out. But went many years w/o anything, so I’m not complaining. The best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

have changed tons of those knock sensors. up here in northern Alberta, the rear ones rot out, usually because of all the mud and water that gets under the rubber plug. more often than not i have to replace the valley cover also, after that rear sensor breaks off, then you have to pull the cover up over whats left of the sensor. with the seal staying underneath it usually holds all the mud in place, which is a good thing since its open to the cam shaft underneath it. and the rear hole of the cover is so rotted that it can't be reused. then i usually put a bit of silicone around the rubber plugs before i seat them in the holes, the put the little dam of silicone around the holes like GM says.

For the Front Wheel Bearing, everything I read or watch said 30 minutes to repair. They were partly right. Took about 10-15 minutes to disconnect everything and 15 minutes to reinstall. Took many hours to get it out! Heat and penetrating oil over the day a few times and some 5 pound sledge hammering finally got it out! :)
Replaced the dash instrument cluster, easy fix. In the end, wouldn't pass emissions test. It wouldn't clear two OBD, Cat and Eval. No matter what I did, they wouldn't clear. Wanted a bigger truck so traded it in for a 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD WT.

Oh... the three I've had is the fuel vent canister, knock sensor (I replaced both and the wire harness when one went), and of course the tailgate latches/handle that just failed after 17 years of use. I’ve read that the oil pressure sender fails a lot too. Easy fix if you happen to own the “special tool” to get the thing off & on.

The things you mention are indeed true and easy fixes. If you live where they use road salt the following things can be a real pain: Rusted out fuel tank and spare tire crossmembers and the frame itself. The spring hangers too. Factory steel brake lines rotting out. A Dorman stainless steel brake kit fixes that problemm. Oil the truck if the frame is in good shape. It will help them last. Oh and don't forget the rotted off engine ground cables at the back of the engine. Cheers

Nary a mention of the fuel pumps. I've changed about 75-80 fuel pumps..... not one steering shaft

I had to change out the fuel pump at 190k on my 2003 silverado 4.8l 4x4. I'm getting lifter noise now but other than that it's been very reliable.

I've got 240,000 on a 2000 Silverado. Very few problems outside of normal maintenance. The only one on the list is the tailgate handle was replaced at 200k.

Left out brake lines, all 5 brake lines get replaced at the same time when they go.Luckily there are NI COP and stainless steel pre bent brake line kits out there.Poorly casted cylinder heads with the 4.8,5.3 and 6.0 from the factory. It is in the middle headbolt hole area, cracks there which there was not a middle support casted in.Complaint is coolant loss with no outside leaks.

I have an 06 just like that one. The tail gate stopped opening, then wouldn't open at all. I watched another youtube video and pulled the cover and replaced the plastic clip's. I don't understand why they didn't use metal clip's.

The biggest problem is the castech 706 aluminum cylinder heads cracking and mysterious coolant loss seeping from the heads usually around the head bolts on the 99-07 4.8 and 5.3s

I'm not surprised that nothing in the drive train was mentioned..
There's a reason these first Gen Silverados are still very present on the road when other manufacturers from the same years are few..
My 2002, has over 280,000 miles and shifts out smooth..
As this video indicates, I did have to replace the front wheel bearings and had the rear-end rebuilt.. but other than that the only money I've spent on that truck has been maintenance ..
Oh yeah.. I almost forgot.. I bought this truck in 2010 for $1,500 .. lol

    I have electrical problems....
Horn is inop, no power at the fuse either side. The radio and key chine when below 40 are inop.
    Few other problems.
The first video I saw was very informative.
I'm sure his shop is extremely busy.

Over 200,000 miles on my 2006 Silverado 4.3 V6 purchase new had wheel bearings replaced recently and tailgate latch replaced. I drive the truck everywhere and lots of times pulling my boat. From Western Kentucky to Eastern Kentucky Mountains and all over Tennessee. Had Ford trucks I liked as well. But the older the Chevy gets the better it runs. 20 mpg highway. 14 to 15 mpg pulling the big Alumacraft deep V . Love my Chevy Truck .

I own a 2005 GMC Sierra 5.3 SLT 4x4. When my Evap went bad I replaced it but still had tank filling issues and no CEL. I replaced the big charcoal canister and then it was fixed. Also an over looked problem: door pins and bushings wearing out and the heavy doors like to sag and hit the rocker as they close. Overall I haven’t had many big issues with my truck, it likes to burn a bit of oil. I use 6qts synthetic and I have a moroso catch can. When I change the oil at 4-5k I get out only 4-5 qts. That’s why I try not to let my oil go much longer than 5k before I change it with a wix filter

We had a 2005 that made it to over 170k miles before the PCM took a poo. Before that, the only problems we really had was the Knock Sensor issue, the water pump started leaking around 150k and a 4wd issue that we never really figured out. Great truck overall.

2000 Sierra V6 5 speed, my problems have been 1) clutch master cylinder plastic clutch pedal housing broke, 2) Intake gaskets 3) fuel gauge sender 4) rear disc brake shields rusted out, only rusty part on the truck anywhere, 5) horn switch and auto headlight sensor.
