This is part 2 of the Building Bruce series. Here, Grant Stevens breaks down the Bruce Lee's martial arts training and conditioning. Building off the routine provided in The Art of Expressing the Human Body, Grant adapts Bruce's training to a more modern set-up.
The result is a combination of bag work, shadow boxing, and agility ladder that will help improve cardio fitness, striking speed and power, footwork, agility, and more!
Combine this with the strength routines provided in part one, for a full, modern Bruce Lee inspired training program.
I'm really psyched to have Grant back on the channel! Let us know what you'd liked to see in future. And stay tuned for much more like this. We're still celebrating 100,000 subs!

Could watch him shadow boxing the wohle day
It Looks so smooth
Pls I except
Agreed
The way this guy moves is my new years goal.
I swear me to
make sure you stick to it! heres another exercise that would help if your aiming for the speed of bruce use sound or a sound as the instigator to fire out a punch or a kick.... this will help improve your explosiveness and make you almost superhuman in terms of anticipating a punch or a kick coming towards you.... like shadow boxing, and you can also turn this into a game.... so for instance everytime you hear a ring of a bell throw a punch or a kick as quickly as possible and chamber as quickly as possible.... so basically your almost mimicking bruce lee there in the video where hes looking at the mirror throwing out punches.... even better is to turn this into an ongoing exercise.... so like the drinking game you drink everytime someone or something happens you throw a kick or punch everytime someone says a key word or something happens this will test your concentration, alertness.... i did this for 24 hours to 2 days straight freaked out friends and family and strangers but boy was i fast... even trickier is if your holding shopping in both hands or something, you feel your twitch muscles twitch and acknowledge to yourself that you caught the instigation without throwing or kicking or getting thrown in a jail cell for freaking out bystanders... even better if your able to complete a punch or a kick while doing something else without endangering yourself and others around you...

Bruce was waaaaay too ahead of his time. True legend that was taken far too soon R.I.P
THE FIRST MAN WHO THOUGHT THAT HANDS AND FEET AND THE ELSE CAN BE USED IN FIGHTING - THAT A MAN AHEAD OF HIS TIME. MANY TAKE KNOWLEDGE FROM THE BOX AND ADD EXISTENCE TECHNIQUES AND ONCE THEY GOT THAT THEY FOLLOW UP WITH A CATCHY NAME AND PHILOSOPHY. IF DOESN'T KILL OLD IDEAS TO BETTER THE ART AND HUMANS - THEN WE GOT NOTHING. DON'T GET ME WRONG, AS LONG AS ONE IS TRYING TO BUILD A SYSTEM OR AN EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR TEACHING THEN THERE NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. -

Definitely not.
@@cakebanans2039 lol. No. You must be a little kid moron.
It is nice to see some real martial art training, keep it up, as you approaching 60 as I am, all the training will make you stand out
This guys form is astounding
I’m jealous and amazed
Even when warming up, Grant "Night wing" Stevens maintains complete concentration and pinpoint accuracy. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing.
Fictional
Let’s not forget those legendary forearms of bruce lee 💯
Nemesis OnThaTrack wonder what he did for those forearms? Must’ve been the daily punches
@Reyzah Rotana he also turned a one side weighted dumbell from side to side.
How did he train them
@@sassysuiryu1114 lies!
He trained his grip in everyway possible, just gotta challenge and push yourself just like he did.
Bruce Lee was far ahead of his time. That's why he's one of the most respected iconic figures in the *World.*
@awake asleep Your comment about Bruce shows how ignorant you are.
Haha ya, that history of him fighting other Martial arts schools when he was a teenager, him winning a karate tournament, fighting challengers on set of his movies, an actual video of him sparring mean nothing.
honestly it's most likely more about the fame.
@@robbybee70 Define *FAME* and Define *SUCCESS?* Plus, Bruce Lee wanted to be recognized as a *ARTIST.* Not just a actor!!!!!
@@Dragonflyjones67 defining success would be difficult without more context but anyone who tries to make a point with bold type is pretty much beyond reason, what I said is accurate deal with it
Damn your speed and technique is incredible I definitely learned a lot watching this
Grant's speed is insane
Hehe footage is sped up. Still impressive though
@@jon...5324 It's not, look at the bald guy in the background, he is moving at normal speed
sorry, but it is sped up. watch 7:22 as the guy enters the frame. He initially moves faster than at the end when the shot fades out.
ironkcoony I can assure you nothing in this video is sped up. I would never speed up my footage that would be ridiculous
@@grantstevensma don't worry Grant....I believe it's not sped up...I actually meant my comment as a compliment
Yehhhhh loving the Bruce lee vids and that first kick is amazing the power in that kick is out of this world no run up no wind up just straight from standstill in the head with so much power
The best fitness channel on youtube honestly, I just love how you not only cover how to improve the aesthetic of your body and become swallow but also make in-depth videos on fighting techniques and how to get mentally stronger, improving the brain power and so on.
Seems coincidental, was watching enter the dragon yesterday, so thought about how Bruce Lee trained, re-watched the first video and wondered if a part 2 was coming. Nice
Watched it there on Netflix as well hahaha great stuff
Bro I watched it yesterday too
Me too been trying to get his training since he did it like no other nobody is even aware of his weight training, dude was a bodybuilder as well
I love the detailed, real life instruction here. Thank you!
When I started out training with my father years ago, it was Wing Chun. Because that was his style, then as I got older and continued my own training I incorporated TKD, JKD, Choy Li Fut, hell I even started incorporating some of the moves from games like Shenmue into my training. I also added boxing, I added wrestling for grappling purposes.
Yessss my man, learn from everything you can
Dude! I would like so much to see you in a martial arts movie. Do something! Great talent dude!
Mate! You're the business.
Just found your channel and I'm so enjoying your content.
So crisp and you whole manner is totally inspiring.
Respect Bro.
This was a great video and I am surprised how quickly it was uploaded. I knew it would've probably been pre-recorded before the first part but I thought it would've been spaced out a little longer. That's the great thing about this channel. Well, one of many great things about it. The fact that everything is so well done and nothing is held back. There are plenty of others who would easily do so or make one or two videos into a series of short ones. That's not challenging toward creativity and ingenuity.
This was well produced and edited. I really like the simplicity in all of the details and explanations - which makes sense, given the philosophy of Bruce's art. It was also a nice welcome back to Grant. I've looked forward to seeing more of him from last year's videos and hopefully there will be more collaboration in the future.
Thanks for all the research, documentation, videography and other (lovingly so) hard work and dedication into the video and the subject matter. Have a great evening!
Class content as always ! Look forward the the next video 💪
This is amazing. I will defo make this a part of my future workouts as training and teaching. Great work Grant.
Fantastic!! Your ultra instinct vid got me here over a year ago and you are a huge part of my transformation thank you and congratulations!!
Excellent training routine-and you sir have excellent speed, flow and balance. I had been doing something similiar but definitely going to tey this routine specifically
Perfect form. Notice those hooks how he move his hips not his shoulders. Creates that quick and perfect snap with precision and power while maintaining balance.
He does move his shoulders, but his hips turn first of course.
The hips are the foundation of the core when you don't use them you can't possibly hit as hard as your body can output.
@@roberttallafer2299 yes he moves his shoulders but only slightly while everything flows through the hips.
Brilliant stuff!! Clear, simple, and realistic program.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing...love the sound effects.
One of the best videos you've made i really liked this one

Wow. Amazing footwork man. Thanks for the tips
The best content ever.
Thank you
The back kick at 14:50 along with the nice retraction of the leg after the kick! Someones been studying their TKD 👌
Wow...so inspiring to just watch him move!
*He speaks about intention, IN-TENSION, tension withIN ! there's little or none. It's hard to move away from being mechanical,as Bruce said. This means, mind FIRST, after technique, form, forget the technique, etc. The movement is from in to out, NOT otherwise ! Not only most don't get the essence of Bruce's brilliance, even if you get it, applying it rests on you: do it->it does you->there's no technique or you, but A TOTAL movement ! Another thing he said"real competitor gives his best ALL the time"*
All you attacks look great, fast and powerful! Very nice foot works!
Great video. Simple and effective. Glad I Found this channel.
