      That’s all in the mind and meditation that’s why you see all the top dudes use visualization and meditation and law of attraction and finding rhythm through visualization and being calm with your breath as well as adding rhythm to it so it spreads to the body more efficiently

    Welcome to the channel Grant. I really enjoyed the video and learned a couple of new things that I will now incorporate into my training, thanks! I also do dynamic before a workout and static after because this seems to be the best for me. However, I also used to do static before and after and I never had any injuries or problems. The reason why I switched to current practice is because I enjoy dynamic movement and I like to get that extra inch quicker. I think it really depends on the individual, as far as what is best - as there are no definitive proof, one way over the other. I agree that your body will tell you when you are going too far. This could be a problem for those doing dynamic stretches if they really swing hard without gradually progressing into the stretch. In this way, it could be just as dangerous as pushing too far on a static stretch. Still, if one uses common sense (which is never common), he or she could effectively do both in moderation. Again, I do the same practice as you because I've spent years "listening" to what my body tells me and it likes dynamic first, then static after. Thank you for a great video. If I must RESPECTFULLY part with one constructive criticism; the music seemed just a little louder than your voice, so you may want to revisit that. Have a great evening and training session!

    Regarding static stretching before a workout, last year I had a Shotokan instructor who claimed it was terrible and no one should ever do this. At that point I had been doing static stretching before a workout for about 14 years with no ill effect. I spoke with a Tae Kwon Do instructor about it and she said that there is no consensus within the scientific community about this. She recently earned her doctorate in kinesiology, so I trust she is well informed on the matter.

    • @TheBioneer
      @TheBioneer  6 лет назад +4

      To weigh in on this, you are right there's a lot of studies with some contradictory findings peppered in. But I believe the consensus is now leaning in the direction of it potentially increasing injury risk. If I recall, this is less likely for those that have always used that method. Ultimately though, for those starting out: seeing as there's no benefit to static stretching first, and their *might be* a risk, makes sense to move it to the end. Fascial release is another option that has isn't correlated with increased injury. Thanks for sharing your take :-)

    • @JourneyToTheCage
      @JourneyToTheCage 6 лет назад +1

      Kinesiology is alternative medicine. Therefore is pseudoscientific bullshit

    • @TKDLION
      @TKDLION 6 лет назад +2

      The person I was referring to is a university professor. At universities, they lump all the physical education & sports related classes into kinesiology. It's not just medicine, pseudo-scientific or otherwise. I wasn't aware that sports medicine and physical therapy were considered pseudo-scientific.

      I'd be very careful before committing to surgery dude. I've read about many cases where not only did the surgery fail help... But actually reduced the persons mobility. Have you seen specialists about this? Don't trust a general practitioner to tell you what's going on. Do your research before man.
      With regards to martial arts you could start with something light like Tai Chi or Yoga and progress from there and work up

      monkgrant Thanks man I just wanted to be a better martial artist and an athlete in general since i can kick high but its not like flexbility its me pulling my weight down the other way to perform a hook kick when i should be able to just kick high and flexible but with power

    • @grantstevensma
      @grantstevensma 6 лет назад

      Try to stay positive dude, it will serve you much better to think of yourself that way even if you seem like you're lying to yourself. Trust me!!
      With regards to the kicking flexibility, practise the things that I outlined in this video but also be really careful to ensure how your foot is positioned on the ground when you kick. Very often people point to lack of flexibility because they're struggling to kick well, but in my experience their kicking technique is off; specifically their standing foot isn't pivoted right which then drastically hinders the ability to open the hips correctly.
      Good luck!

      monkgrant Thanks for the support im glad that theres people out there that actually care btw I practise shaolin kung fu its effective but at the same time its not I was thinking of attempting wing chun (although theres not alot of kicking involved except the toe kick) I've tried BBJ i still do it as an effective means of grappling but I just want to futher develop my martial arts skills. I also do know that the style doesn't make a difference its about the individual.
      I'll try to keep postive aswell thank you for your help.

    As a practitioner I really wanted to learn as much as possible. The music over shadows his voice.

      Sorry man, I realised this as well that I need to speak louder. I'm new to the whole RUclips and presenting thing, so I'm still learning. Next video will be better.

      Simplicitas I had headphones too. I like the video but there was so much good information that it gets lost in the music. Just turn it down by -5 decimals or around that range. Turn up the music when there is no information narrated.

      Your speech isn't too bad (could be better). Its the volume mixing.

    I’ve done taekwondo at young age a left 3 years ago, I’ve lost my flexibility and I wanna start again. So are there any tips? Should I even go back?
