- Understand these two principles and you will be faster in any Racing Sim or even in real Live motor sport.
Traction Circle or Friction Circle explained
Phases of a corner explained
Both of these principles combined together will give you a great understanding of how to extract the maximum out of your vehicle, either in sim racing or real life.

Bonus Point if you can name the Film the clip came from…
Days Of Reserve Driver
Absolutely. Top Gun but with NASCARs 🤣
Greatest film ever made!
Days of thunder i really liked that one
This video helped me a huge amount in reducing my lap times since I watched it. Thanks man
Awesome. Glad it helped 👍🏻👍🏻
its braking to get weight over front outside wheel at right point or accelerate before the max point of the corner and increase power slowly until you can see the max exit point of the corner
1:20 You can steer fully and brake fully in GT7 if you have ABS default, because "default" automatically trail brakes for you (weak setting doesn't).
If you don't believe me go test it, I got into the top 10 stars in GT Sport daily race B of the month june, the track was suzuka on Gr.4 I got the first 2 turns of suzuka using full braking while cornering, but since I have ABS on default, I didn't understeer or lockup, and managed 6th fastest in the region.
Yeah. GT7 ABS is very good. But it’s good practise not to rely on it too much.
Look up the top 10 fastest times for Race C (Gr3 Suzuka) they're all half braking into T1. This is not always true
@@KepleroGT
but without need, you can perform the same if tap full brake, go test it yourself I know what I'm saying.
Maybe some of them use ABS weak, or just a good practice so when you play other sims trail braking will be built in your muscle memory.
@@Doughtinator there is no real point in turning off abs or set it on weak in my opinion almost nobody does it daily races never require it infact they incourage the use of aids so no offense i get when you wanne do it for realism but it does make you slower.
So their is hardly anyone interested in driving without abs so i dont really get the hardcore no abs thing in the sense of gt7 driving without isnt a problem to me but just doesnt make sense in this game its the only driving aid besides the brake indicator on the speedometer that actually helps me the rest is in the way of my driving or my tuning ..
Now if people without abs were faster i would be into it but thats just not the case it just requires more attention to braking and youll braking points will change it might be harder and fun to do from time to time but there is a reason why the standard is only abs in gran turismo its just the fastest way to drive
@@Ihelpanytime i know trail braking and getting a feeling for it can help greatly but if full abs does it automaticly why the hell not up untill now nobody trailbraking theirself wich requires far more concentration was faster on a gran turismo game people driving with abs on will always be 1 step ahead of you already fucussing on the next corner the work you put into it doesnt pay off at all but its always really nice the option is there to challange ypurself
spectacular video allowed me to improve on average 1 to 2 seconds per lap thank you so much keep it up with great videos 👍👍👍👍
Awesome stuff. Always great to hear 👍🏻👍🏻
Super valuable stuff that seems a pre-requisite if you even want to keep up with B rated lobbies.
Yeah. I think you can gain most time in GT7 trail braking correctly 👍🏻
Nice explanation. Ta.
Glad to help 👍🏻
Very useful 👌 👍 information, thank you
Glad to help 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video and original content
Thanks man. Really appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
Since im dutch ive been trying the max verstappen trick brake late go in deep for the shortest turn possible at the highest speed possible to have a long hard acceleration out basicly cutting part of the corner and it does work really well when applied with precision on the tighter corners and hairpins when you hang a bit more to the left or right before entering a corner youll actually hit the apex a fraction later but have a far more straight line out on higher speed then people actually following the ideal racingline i takes some practise tho not every corner is ideal for this but the nordschleife has plenty small ones and i notice it over there
Yeah there are MANY shapes you can make a corner which changes the amount of time you spend in each phase. Almost unlimited possibilities really.
I find in GT Sport and GT7 that the mid corner is often really short compared to something like iRacing or ACC.
@@Doughtinator i know exactly what you mean on gt7 cars are strong mid corner on the ideal line but it still can work might be smaller margin on gt 7 tho but few km extra can get you a win
Glorious 👏👏, the studio is looking tidy 👍
Like deployed 👍

Fastest studio on RUclips 🤣🤣
This is why I preferred original physics on gt7, because this was teaching us to be much better drivers, being progressive on brake throttle and steering. Now I find physics have made it more arcady again, and more like gts
Yeah. The cars were VERY sensitive on throttle. I quite liked it like that. Though perhaps it was a bit too sensitive. But now it’s probably a bit too far the other way. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Doughtinator yeah possibly, I liked t but maybe there is a balance the struck
@@Doughtinator i agree it was far to much up to a unrealistic point i couldnt even catch a slide you were straight gone from the moment it started slipping i prefer the new physics by far
I do actually apply tips from a long time of racing Sims/games into my rl driving I have a fr car so you can imagine how it goes on British roads , it was all fun and games until I tried right foot breaking and face planted the windscreen
Yeah man. Using the ‘sim racing’ foot for braking IRL often ends up with an aggressive stop 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
is there any advantage in GT7 when lsd tuning not available to maintain a minimum amount of throttle when steering , in conjuction with braking, to keep a car more stable ?
In GT7 I often find that the ‘mid-corner’ part is very very small. I’m most often transferring from brake to throttle quite quickly.
I have a video about the Catalunya circuit experience with the Lambo Gr3 which really shows this.
@@Doughtinator in circuit like lago maggiore at turn 5 with certain cars I found it was making the car more stable in long braking .. but of course not easy to do it in a consistent manner and probably bad for tires....
I have issues with both phase 4's
Traction control can help on corner exit.
