    I make that mistake all the time where i refuse to let go real life knowledge thinking the game is a match! It's not! Most in game adjustments for would wrap your car around a tree in seconds given in real life!

    I loved having Ben Collins (The Stig) assist with tuning in PCars2. Was the perfect balance of a way to teach as well as being a more realistic way teams actually go about it with feedback from the driver and then solutions from the race engineer

    As a racer who's been testing and tuning since fm1, works on cars irl, and has learned a lot since then, the biggest gain for me from this is the scale of change from one extreme to the other being small. I have made frd max soft in front and max stiff in rear, and they're still drivable. This made me lose a lot of my passion for tuning in gt7. I'll go back and make these larger adjustments to test this theory.
    Thanks for the tips!

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Год назад

      It’s a good way to learn what each change does! There are definitely common adjustments and values across many tunes but also infinite adjustability if the car demands something different!

      Obviously if you have an event at specific track, tune the car for that track if possible. If you’re trying to make a versatile setup, look for a track that has a mix of fast and slow speed corners, also make sure the track has an average amount of time spent on the straights. Trial mountain, dragon trial seaside and road Atlanta are decent options. Maybe sardegna Road track B as well :)

    Had a question for you that's been bugging me about shift points, specifically in Gr3 cars. How come when I look at the HP and torque graph for a certain car and see that it has a massive power drop off close to max rpm's, I think "oh I must have to shift early to keep it in the best power band." Sometimes that is true and sometimes maxing out the rpm's is best before shifting, even though it shows a massive power drop off. Just hoping you could shed some light on this for me. Thank you dood

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Год назад +2

      What you’re seeing is correct some cars do lose power before maxing out in the revs. However what matters in this situation you’re describing is what RPM the car has in the next gear. If the next gear bogs the car down significantly, you should rev the car out more in the previous gear so you can be closer to peak power again in the next gear. Every gear you spend a certain amount of time in you should try to maximize the average power level across that time, sometimes that means shifting very close to peak power, sometimes that means you should rev the car more than you think.
      If a cars power falls off a cliff after peak power usually that means you should shift it relatively quickly after peak power. Also if a car has 7 or more gears it means the gear ratios are closer together so that bogging in the next gear effect is less pronounced so you can afford to shift closer to peak power.

I make drivers cars, and I'd like to believe I've made some good and great machines, and cars that competed greatly against stuff like the civic type R (basically i made a golf GTI compete with a civic type R) and even more examples but I wanna keep it short. While you can have a bad fast car, doesn't mean it'll be a good drivers car. And vice versa, you can make the greatest driving car ever and it'll be slow compared to what I call a 'time attack' car, which are basically fully built machines designed for going as fast as you can in a given PP regardless of driving experience quality. I know I'm preaching to a brick wall because its a community mind set of faster always equals the better, in racing that is the goal but I feel now that I'm making 'drivers' or enthusiasts cars, they seem very over looked by the wider community. While I'll never deny these cars y'all make the best in being faster, I feel like very little people in the gt community care about drivers cars or enthusiasts cars. And I wish people would seek out to make their own LFA's or f1 McLaren's or NSX's.

      I completely agree with this. That’s why on #1 I tried to clarify that it depends on how you play the game. When driving experience is the number 1 priority, on many cars that means slowing them down. I think the fastest lap time car still needs to be under control, but what that entails for an experienced driver vs someone not as experienced means something completely different. A lot of the time GT users don’t even look at lap time they just want to have something that feels fun to drive and puts a smile on their face

      @@DoodRacing tbh sometimes I think its the opposite, every time I got into a lobby I always see people with racing softs on a 86, and they aren't even trying to go fast thats just all they can drive on and say "oh its to hard to drive its not grippy enough" lol.. And depending on what it is I think an enthusiast car can take very genuine skill to drive, like the carrera GT or a 918. Both a purpose built time attack cars and a enthusiast car can be hard to drive but aren't hard for the same reason.

      @@drakesinister3337 the carrera GT is lovely in this game. Super balanced and quick but with an edge where on the limit it can kill you at any moment. It also doesn’t suffer from the on throttle understeer that many other MR cars do. Definitely what I would consider to be a great drivers car

    Do you know a guide how to tune cars that are driven by AI in custom races? I'm working on a grid with 20 different cars and when I'm testing them, they are all within 1 second. If they're driven by AI the faster cars take off couple of seconds of the slower ones

    • @DoodRacing

      I honestly don’t know how setup interact with AI cars. I have a similar experience to you. Race cars seem especially slow compared to road cars with AI driving them. Perhaps they all get reset to default.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Год назад

      I race in open lobbies, where in most lobbies you’re allowed to setup your car and race others who can do the same. Back in the PS3 era on GT5 and GT6 there was no sport mode so in most cases mastering setups as well as driving was important. Even in GT7, most of the online players still race in lobbies

      Nope. In daily races tuning is disabled. In GT Sport during open lobbies you could set BOP and have tuning enabled if you wanted to. In this game I don’t think you can.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Год назад +1

      I’ll release an entire vid on this soon but here’s a quick rundown:
      Initial torque: The higher you put it, the more your car will understeer when lifting off the throttle, it also causes more wheelspin, this wheelspin is predictable but not helpful. Overall initial torque slows down lap times and I run it at 5, 99 % of the time.
      Acceleration sensitivity: the lower you run, the more easy the car will be to control out of low speed traction zones, higher value is for cars that have fantastic traction out of low speed corners. Running it higher also promotes more on-throttle rotation in high speed corners, but in GT7 the difference in negligible. Also be careful to not run too little acceleration sensitivity, because on most cars a super low value causes one wheel peel, where the inside rear tire slips and causes a loss in power at low speed.
      Braking sensitivity: has nothing to do with the actual brakes, rather the engine brake. The higher the value the more the car will understeer entering a corner off the throttle. High value is great for mid engine cars that are ass happy entering corners. Low braking sensitivity is good for cars that need more rotation entering corners ie cars that understeer off throttle.

    🤨
    10 ein Mal gelernt und es passt für immer?! Mmh gt 3 oder 5 gelernt und war mist?! Plus
    9 was im realen kann man teilweise über bord werfen? Die wahre fahrsimulation gt x okay....
    Lustig, was du dann anschliessend sagst 😂 in kurz, gt 7 macht halt was und wir müssen herausfinden wie was wirkt, da es nicht dem realen entspricht 👏 interessanterweise habe ich bei sonstigen renn-spielen keine probleme die fahrzeuge einzustellen weil realistisch und die behaupten nicht immer ein reales simulations spiel zu sein 😊
    Ich persönlich wäre schon froh, wenn manche einstellungen am fahrzeug und das auch noch unterschiedlich je fahrzeugen überhaupt was bewirken würden. Und das von minimum zu maximum und umgekehrt ausprobiert! Das differenzial bringt zu 75% der fahrzeuge gar nichts bei mir... und die traktionskontrolle, obwohl ich je ohne gefahren bin, hat 50% aussetzer selbst bei ps schwachen fahrzeugen... und ohne curbs, dreck, von strecke, kuppe oder senke sowie schlecht eingestelltes fahrwerk, sofern da alles wirkung zeigt.
    Habe schon fahrzeuge klar gemacht u die strecken rausgesucht was man hier so findet von denen die erklären und meine zeit mit deren verglichen. Also für allgemein eingestellte fahrzeuge, also pauschal für alle strecken, habe ich nach 3 4 runden schon die zeit manchmal unterboten, ansonsten mit 2 3s dahinter. Nun laßt mich noch bischen auf jene strecke abstimmen... lustig, aber ok 2 verschiedene fahrzeuge, aber fast gleiche ps, dafür der andere allrad u ich frontantrieb. Er trocken und ich bei starkregen. 10s unterschied. Habe es leider versäumt mal trocken zu fahren 😎
    Nun ich weis nicht, warum ich mir dann von gewissen leuten tipps holen soll und mir in den kommentaren von jüngern als, einfach gesagf wegen übersetzung, anfänger bezeichnen lassen muss 😅
    Gt7 und schon gt sport sind keine simulationen! Simuliert wird realität, und das hast du ja selbst negiert... dann ist man nicht anfänger, zu dumm anderst gesagt, sondern die physik wirkt eben nach weltanschauung der programmierer. Und da rege ich mich und andere zu recht auf. Finde ich.
    8 ist es nicht schon bezeichnend, wenn man sagt, dass das fahrzeug schlecht fährt? Und erst mal durch tuning fahrtüchtig zu machen? 😅 man stelle sich das in echt vor, 100.000 oder 250.000 dollar für ein supersportwagen bezahlen und dann erst mal in die werkstatt damit zum einstellen, damit man ohne unfall mit fahren kann 😂👍 passt jedenfall zum spiel bei porsche... porsche würde pleite gehen, würden die in echt so fahren 😊
    Ansonsten wichtig und zutreffend, wann und bei was und wo macht das auto, was man nicht will, dass es das macht 👍 ich kenn auch einen, dem kann man es sagen, zeigen und erklären, nächste strecke, anderes auto und je nach ist entweder das auto oder die strecke (stelle) schuld 😅
    7:44 👍 eigentlich einleuchtend und je nach mache ich das immer noch (vorallem jetzt bei gt7, um überhaupt zu sehen, funktioniert diese einstellung bzw welche nicht 😅).
    Ok, zu dem rest, nicht verkehrt. Wichtig wäre noch, in richtiger reihenfolge ein zu stellen und bestimmtes in die mitte zu stellen als neutral. Wenn die basis stimmt, best möglich, dann stellt man helfende sachen passend ein und dann dadurch wird man auch erst schneller. 😎 Ansonsten kann man auch gefahr laufen einstellungen gegeneinander auszurichten.

I ALREADY WONB THE GT CHAMPIONSHIP.. 1 stupid question, DON'T WE LEARN AS WE PLAY EACH RACE, EACH TRACK, EACH TUNING PART, DIFFERENT WHEELS? U ARE basically telling people, WHO already know how to play GT 2, GT3, GT4, GT5, GT SPORT, GT7, stuff that we ALREADY KNOW cuz we played this game 4 years now. STOP GIVING TERRIBLE ADVICE. thanks buddy. 🤘🤙

      Congratulations on winning the GT championship! But unfortunately this doesn’t mean you are good at the game compared to people online… As far as tuning goes, using the descriptions for the parts only gets you so far. You need to put in the effort to learn how to maximize your cars grip potential. You don’t just magically get this from playing the game for 4 years. Doing races does help, but you have to pay attention to certain car behaviours in order to improve your builds
      Acting like you know EVERYTHING is a quick and easy way to ensure you will never get better at tuning. Send me one of your builds, I bet I can make it faster by at least 1 second a lap.
